I need advice in establishing a Celebrity chef or television chef ping list. There is an existing food ping list though I'm not sure how active it is. This would not be a place for the exchange of recipes though if that were to happen I wouldn't have an issue with it. The main purpose would be the diversion from more serious matters to discuss television food personalities and news of interest to "foodies": Rachel Ray, Anthony Bourdain, Bobby Flay, Mario Batali, Jacques Pépin, Paula Deen and so on.

Okay, we are just a few days away from Thanksgiving so let this thread be the Official Thanksgiving Turkey Guide. Tips on preparing turkeys and the trimmings. I am really posting this thread out of ulterior motives. I just bought two Thanksgiving turkeys and assured my wife I know everything about how to cook them. She doesn't since she is from Venezuela. Problem is that I fibbed a bit. My main experience in cooking Thanksgiving turkeys before was merely heating up pre-cooked turkeys. This time I will be doing it almost from scratch. Sorry for the vanity but I need Freeper Help!!! Since I just arrived from Phoenix AZ to Maine last year my family wants me to bring a crockpot chili to the reunion on Sat Jun 30th. They also added the stipulation that is should be in a crockpot (to keep it warm) and mild (so everyone can eat it) I have made chili before, (long time ago) but it has never been either crockpot nor mild, and I don't think they will be willing to try anything else. I'd like to hear about the different Christmas Day and Eve traditions of freepers. We always vow not to repeat Thanksgiving Day, but usually end up with the whole roasted turkey and trimmings event -- plus some fresh Florida seafood, more desserts than usual, etc.

I'm not being politically correct when I add holiday to the title of this thread. There are so many things to do in the next few weeks. But, my favorite holiday is actually New Years. Probably because it's my anniversary. Also, I have no free time the next few weekends. So, it would be wonderful to have some quick meal ideas as well. So, have some fun. Share your food and your memories. I'll go dig up mine sometime before Christmas. ;-)

The day after Thanksgiving I like to make these. That doesn't mean I am June Cleaver and always get around to making them. But, at least I think of it. These are the softest and most wonderful cinnamon rolls. Since I wasn't sure about copyright for reposting I am just adding the url for this.

How do you cook meatballs? I googled some recipes that broil them. Also they fry them in sauce. But I thought if you fry them (boiled them?) in sauce, the meat gets done but not brown? Can you just fry them in a skillet with a little oil? Or will they not get done that way? thanx
