Nearly six weeks later, the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, that left Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead is still shrouded in mystery. A clearer outline of the attack, though, is emerging. A credible witness tells Fox News that, prior to the attack, he heard a mob approaching the mission’s front gate, chanting blood-thirsty slogans, before they broke in. He said it was less like a demonstration and more like a warm-up to battle. This could explain how others thought, including some I spoke with, that the attack started as a protest. In the crowd,...

EXCERPTS A credible witness tells Fox News that, prior to the attack, he heard a mob approaching the mission’s front gate, chanting blood-thirsty slogans, before they broke in. He said it was less like a demonstration and more like a warm-up to battle. This could explain how others thought, including some I spoke with, that the attack started as a protest. (snip) There were several closed-circuit camera installations. While attackers targeted some, they appear to be intact and could already be supplying key video evidence regarding the start of the attack and the movement of the mob. (snip) What Fox News...

Here is video of Fox News Reporter Greg Palkot and his cameraman Olaf Wiig talking on camera for the first time about the beating they took at the hands of pro-Mubarak thugs in Cairo, Egypt earlier this week. They talked to Fox News Correspondent John Roberts about how they were repeatedly hit in the head and all over their bodies with fists, open hands, sticks, rocks. Their injuries are still very visible and graphic. They are fortunate to still be alive.

CAIRO, Egypt – It was Wednesday afternoon. We were covering the clashes between pro- and anti-government protesters near Tahrir or Liberation Square in Cairo. A short time after we started our shooting, cameraman Olaf Wiig was threatened by a small group of pro-Mubarak thugs. We ducked down an alley. It turned out to be a dead end, so we dashed into a nearby building. At first it was a perfect vantage point to cover the street battle. Then it quickly turned into a battle station for the pro-government side. Olaf, producer Ibrahim Hezbroun, a Canadian journalist, and myself hunkered down...

WASHINGTON — When Barack Obama went to Cairo in June 2009, he was lauded for seeking "a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world." His speech was spiked with apologies for what he believes are past American errors and omissions and peppered with Utopian calls for "peace in the Middle East," a "world in which no nations hold nuclear weapons" and upholding "the richness of religious diversity." The president also boldly proclaimed himself to be "a student of history." But two years on, it appears he has not learned some of history's lessons very...

Earlier today we reported on the attacks of Fox News journalists Greg Palkot and video journalist Olaf Wiig that sent them both to the hospital with “fairly grave” injuries . Mediaite has learned that upon being rushed the hospital, Palkot and Wiig were both detained by military police and accused of being Israeli spies. A source with knowledge of the situation says that Palkot was blindfolded throughout the ordeal. It was an exceptionally nerve wracking 24 hours at Fox News, according to our source, with a flurry of calls being made behind the scenes as a small team of executives...

[...] for five weeks this summer, producer Grace Cutler, cameraman John Templeton, myself and others crisscrossed the country to see how folks were faring. [...] In the days to come we would go to places where most TV crews choose not to tread — To find out what real Iraqis are thinking. Like along Main Street in the Karada district of Baghdad. Lined with appliance stores on both sides, it looks like an open air Circuit City. [...] The Iraqi Stock Exchange was an even bigger eye opener. On the day we were there the single trading room was packed...

Did any of you catch it? I didn't see it, but I heard that Greg Palkot was messing around in Saddam's "palace." That's great. They can make it a tourist destination, with all the money going towards the Iraqi people. "Climb in the Saddam pit. The experience of a lifetime." Of course, that stinky, filthy place must be crawling with ten different types of vermin.
