As widely anticipated, Attorney General Eric Holder today filed a lawsuit against Arizona and Gov. Jan Brewer over the state’s immigration law. The suit seeks a preliminary injunction to stop the law from being implemented. The court filing states that Arizona law is pre-empted by federal law and therefore violates the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution. The filing makes no assertion that the law is discriminatory or risks being applied in a discriminatory fashion, as the president and other officials said they feared would be the case. Interestingly, this suit makes no civil rights charges against the Arizona law.You can...

Fox News' Bill O'Reilly is warning that if President Barack Obama ever bypasses Congress and uses his pardon power to make millions of illegal aliens citizens, he could face serious calls for his impeachment. “If President Obama were to sign an executive order giving illegal aliens amnesty, his career would be over and an impeachment movement would explode,” O'Reilly said Friday night on his “Talking Points” segment during his top-rated Fox show. At the same time, O'Reilly said he did not believe reports that the Obama administration would grant such a blanket amnesty. Fox News, however, reported this week: “The...

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 3,500 acres in southern Arizona have now been closed to U.S. citizens because of the dangers posed in that area from Mexican drug smugglers. The area includes part of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. Refuge manager Mitch Ellis told Fox News: “The situation in this zone has reached a point where continued public use of the area is not prudent.” Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said: “It’s literally out of control. We need support from the federal government. It’s their job to secure the border and they haven’t done it. In...

Two illegal immigrants are now convicted murderers of a Houston police officer. They now face life in prison after a jury found them guilty Friday. It only took jurors about five hours to find 37-year-old Xiomara Mendez-Rosales and 42-year-old Andres Nava-Maldonado guilty of engaging in organized crime and felony murder. The family of fallen HPD officer Henry Canales were visibly, still emotional as they left the courtroom for a short break Friday afternoon.

Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Los Angeles Unified School District [LAUSD] joined the city of San Francisco and West Hollywood and signed on to denounce SB 1070, the Arizona law that criminalizes undocumented immigrants. ...The boycott calls for a stop of any official county travel to Arizona, as well as a revision and end to any contract with that state. ...Meanwhile, Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who last week had come out against the proposal, calling it "stupid," ratified his position this week, adding that as elected officials they must uphold the law. "We need solutions, not boycotts. Solutions,...
