CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Today's snowstorm made this month the snowiest December in New Hampshire in more than a century. The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, said Concord, where New Hampshire records are kept, beat the previous record of 43 inches of snow in December by an inch and a half. That record was set in 1876. Overall, the storm left 10.1 inches in Concord, and more in other parts of the state.

Just sitting down to lunch a few minutes ago, channel surfing, and CSPN2 had an Al Gore Booksining repeat from June 2006. The segment opens with a bookstore employee giving out line placement numbers and oh my, the wide eyed sheeple were in a kind of worship mode. Then, in walked His Warmness, I think I heard a halleujah in the background. Then the signing process began. These vacant eyed sheeple, with stacks of his propganda filed through, each offering platitudes to the Goreacle. My point, you may ask? Has anyone on FR ever read this book, An Inconvenient Truth,...

A top executive of Dubai-based carrier Emirates on Thursday rubbished Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore's Oscar-winning documentary on climate change, saying he did not believe the film's scientific theory on global warming. "Don't talk to me about global warming... I just do not buy it whatsoever," Maurice Flanagan, Emirates executive vice chairman, said at a regional aviation conference in Singapore. "Al Gore's 'Inconvenient Truth' is absolute rubbish,"

Earth Shoe Academies by: Malcolm A. Kline, October 30, 2007 Academics like to cultivate an image of themselves as cutting edge. Actually, while they may be more up-to-date than flat-earth theories, they are frequently not quite as far ahead of the curve as earth shoes. “The issue of climate change has entered its rock concert/college curriculum phase, which is a sure indicator that the issue has peaked and will begin a long, slow fade in the public mind,” author Steven F. Hayward writes in a column that appeared in the October Carolina Journal. “Simultaneous ‘Live Earth’ rock concerts were staged...

A COUPLE of days before Al Gore was awarded his Nobel Peace prize, Michael Burton, an English High Court judge and apparently a fine film critic, ruled that Al's Oscar-winner An Inconvenient Truth was prone to "alarmism and exaggeration" and identified nine major factual errors. For example, the former vice-president predicts a rise in sea levels of 6m "in the near future". "The Armageddon scenario he predicts," declared Burton, "is not in line with the scientific consensus." I'll say. The so-called scientific consensus of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change suggests rising sea levels across the next century of somewhere...
  • Our View: Al Gore's reputation as Nobel Prize winner rises on cloud of hot air

They just don't make Nobel Prizes the way they used to. That's the feeling we get after hearing that Al Gore was named co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize yesterday for his global warming alarmism. The other co-winner was the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group of scientists. It was easy enough to understand how Hollywood awarded Gore an Oscar for his climate movie ''An Inconvenient Truth.'' The Academy Award judges live in the land of make-believe. But the Nobel is a serious prize and its judges are supposed to do better work than the movie crowd....

Al Gore now has a Nobel Peace Prize to pair with his Academy Award for "An Inconvenient Truth." But neither accolade makes him any less a liar. As it did when it gave the prize to Jimmy Carter in 2002, the Norwegian Nobel Committee honored Mr. Gore and the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to make a left-wing political statement. Though it did not mention "An Inconvenient Truth" by name, the committee spoke glowingly of Mr. Gore's political activity, lectures, films and books for reducing the "danger of violent conflicts and wars." The film details Mr. Gore's arguments on...

Watching Al Gore's movie about global warming is now part of the job at City Hall. The city of Albuquerque this week began sending its blue-collar and clerical workers to a morning-long seminar on energy efficiency. The seminar includes watching about 50 minutes of "An Inconvenient Truth," which won an Academy Award. "At the end of the day, you save money" by conserving energy, Mayor Martin Chávez told reporters Friday. "We want all our employees to understand energy efficiency." The seminars have faced criticism from those who say it interferes with regular city work. "I think it's probably a waste...

Ignoring the Academy Award won by the film, as well as rumors that former U.S. vice-president Al Gore is in line for a Nobel Peace Prize, a United Kingdom High Court judge said Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” was “assembled by a cretin of minimal understanding and even less sense.” The movie has been distributed to more than 3500 schools for children aged 11 to 14 as part of their “Climate Change” curriculum. The case reached the court when truck driver and father of two, Stewart Dimmock brought action to ban the film from UK schools. The court’s ruling substantially agreed...

Seriously Inconvenient Truth: Producers of Gore’s Film Asked to Return Oscars By Noel Sheppard | October 11, 2007 - 22:46 ET As media in America fall all over themselves with glee at the thought of the Global Warmingist-in-Chief winning a Nobel Peace Prize, Wednesday's findings by a British judge that Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" contained nine material falsehoods has prompted a request to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to strip the movie's producers of the Oscars they received in February for "Best Documentary." LONDON - Some of the assertions in Al Gore's Oscar-winning environmental documentary are not supported by scientific evidence, a British judge said in ruling on a challenge from a school official who did not want the film shown to students. The ruling was published Wednesday and it detailed High Court Judge Michael Burton's decision this month to allow film showings to go ahead in English secondary schools. But the judge said that written guidance to teachers designed to ensure Gore's views are not presented uncritically must accompany the showings. Burton said he had no doubt the points raised in "An...

A controversial documentary on climate change which has been sent to thousands of schools has been criticised by a High Court judge for being 'alarmist' and 'exaggerated'. Mr Justice Burton said former US vice-president Al Gore's film, An Inconvenient Truth, was 'one-sided' and would breach education rules unless accompanied by a warning. Despite winning lavish praise from the environmental lobby and an Oscar from the film industry, Mr Gore's documentary was found to contain 'nine scientific errors' by the judge. These inconvenient untruths included the claim that the snows on Mount Kilimanjaro were disapearing and solely due to the global...

judge on Wednesday ruled that Al Gore's award winning climate change documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" should only be shown in schools with guidance notes to prevent political indoctrination. High Court judge Michael Burton's decision follows legal action brought by a father of two last month claiming the former US vice-president's film contained "serious scientific inaccuracies, political propaganda and sentimental mush". Judge Burton said the Oscar-winning film should be accompanied by government guidance notes and to distribute it without them would breach education laws prohibiting the promotion of unbalanced political viewpoints. But the victory was only partial, as Dimmock failed to...

CNN Meteorologist Rob Marciano clapped his hands and exclaimed, “Finally,” in response to a report that a British judge might ban the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" from UK schools because, according to “American Morning,” “it is politically biased and contains scientific inaccuracies.” "There are definitely some inaccuracies,” Marciano added. “The biggest thing I have a problem with is this implication that Katrina was caused by global warming.”

A High Court judge who ruled on whether climate change film, An Inconvenient Truth, could be shown in schools said it contains "nine scientific errors". Mr Justice Burton said the government could still send Al Gore's film to schools - if accompanied by guidance giving the other side of the argument. A Kent school governor wanted the film banned from secondary schools. The judge said nine statements in the film were not supported by current mainstream scientific consensus. The Oscar-winning film was made by former US Vice-President Al Gore. In his final verdict, the judge said the film could be...

After a three day trial, British High Court judge Mr. Justice Michael Burton has found nine serious factual errors in Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, a film which the judge describes as attempting to support Gore's thesis on global warming through "alarmism and exaggeration." By far the largest and most troubling of the nine "errors" is Gore's false claim of a match—an exact fit, according to Gore—in the rise of carbon dioxide against an increase in global temperatures. *** And so the judge ruled that if the film is going to be distributed to public schools it would need an...

... * The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct. * The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years. * The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute...

Al Gore says he's impressed with the environmental initiatives being promised by B.C.’s government. The former U.S. vice-president told a Vancouver audience Saturday night Premier Gordon Campbell is to be praised for his promise last week of legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and his pledge to adopt California's tough tailpipe emission standards for vehicles. Gore made the comments during a slide presentation based on his Academy Award-winning movie An Inconvenient Truth. Campbell...promised legislation will be passed to make B.C. the first province in Canada to legally cap greenhouse gas emissions, using an undisclosed carbon trading system. Among other initiatives,...

For all the money spent, nobody can say if the offsets have done much to alleviate global warming.... Without government regulation and mandatory caps on emissions, all that is left to drive offset sales is guilt and marketing. Offset companies charge what the market will bear. "How much are you willing to spend to feel good or to impress your neighbors?" asked Marland, of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. For Katy Hansen, a 29-year-old law school student, the answer was $429.99. She wanted to offset the travel of the guests to her May wedding in Madison, Wis., and paid San Francisco-based...
