  • Republican Debaters Ignore China Threat (Except Duncan Hunter)

After seven Democratic presidential candidates debated on Nov. 15, CNN treated us to a debate of eight Republican hopefuls on Nov. 28. The transcript of the debate numbers 25 pages. Its first major subject is “illegal immigration,” which runs to Page 10, or about a third of the debate. Illegal immigration? The word “state” in the political sense (as in “the United States of America”) implies that foreigners cannot come to and live in a “state” as they could on land owned by no one. Otherwise, the “USA” should have been called “NOLA,” “No One’s Lands of America.” Nineteen foreigners...

Americans were rightly outraged over the possibility of an Arab nation with ties to terrorists taking control of six major American ports. Protests from across the nation helped to squelch the deal. However, the job’s not finished. The Communist Chinese still control ports at Long Beach. Congressman Charlie Norwood, (R-GA) made a strong case for getting the Chinese out of the port of Long Beach when he noted that while Dubai has been a reliable partner for America in the War on Terror, Red Chinese officials have threatened invasion of America’s ally on Taiwan and nuclear war against the United...

In May 2004, a flotilla of Chinese warships sailed slowly down the length of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor in an effective show of force. Officially, the People's Liberation Army described the visit as "an event to honor the PLA Navy's 55th anniversary." Clearly, the subtext was that the People's Republic of China (PRC) was striding confidently on the world stage. This display – the first since the colony's return to China in 1997 – came as pro-democracy advocates were grumbling about Beijing's clamp-down on any appearance of self-determination for the former British colony. Two guided-missile destroyers (Shenzhen and Harbin, Sovremmenyy-class...

Yesterday my wife and I attended a community awareness meeting called at our church to talk about the growing methamphetamine and illegal drug problem in our little Idaho community. The County Attorney and a Captain with the Idaho State Troopers made the presentation, with the local Police Chief and Sheriff also in attendance. About 300 people attended. Idaho is an increasing target for the Mexico Drug Cartels for developing and deciminating drugs. The officials clearly showed and demonstrated how these drugs are being funneled, using illegal aliens as carriers, from Mexico, across the remote sections of the US border and...

Over the last ten days I have, with the rest of America and the world, watched a horrific natural disaster and tragedy unfold. I say natural disaster because that is exactly what a hurricane is when it strikes humanity and destroys property and lives and leaves suffering in its wake, as hurricane Katrina did along the Gulf Coast last week. I say tragedy because I have sat transfixed as I have watched as governmental social programs long in place, contributed to the disaster, and as a number of unimaginable and crass mistakes made by those who could have and should...

What is Liberty? Well, IMHO, in the context of American liberty, ere's an answer.... Liberty is freedom from encumberance in an environment where the unalienable rights of mankind are both recognized and respected and where individual "Free Will" bounded by fundamental moral principle is the avenue for interaction in society . That's a lot of pretty words that basically say that if a people are to be free, they and their government have to recognize and respect the God-given rights of others and be moral. In fact, liberty can not coexist with widespread individual, or institutional immorality. Immorality places an...

Halfway through Jeff Head’s four volume (soon to be five volume) series, “Dragon’s Fury”, it’s difficult to decide whether to be more awed by the scope or by the execution of this 21st century Iliad. In “Dragon’s Fury”, Head has crafted an epic – there’s no other word - with a global range and has done it without allowing the story to lose its humanity and focus on individuals wrapped up in and affected by events. And, oh mama, are there ever events. Iran parlaying a nuclear capacity into reality, Middle Eastern states coming together into a unified intranational entity,...

I took out the domain name "TributeToRonaldReagan.com" today (it will take about 96 hours to propogate across the web). It is my permanent tribute to President Ronald Wilson Reagan...the greatest President in my life time, in the 20th centruy, and among the two top presidents of all time, second IMHO, only to George Washington.

Regarding the growing wait to see the late President Reagan lying in state. ...I am overjoyed to see it. I wish I could be there. I woudl gladly wait 24 hours or more to be honored to see him lying in state. Myself and my family will be there in spirit. I pray that the masses who desire to see him amaze everyone...that they are so numberless that they cannot be contained. I pray that they will wait as long as necessary and be glad and willing to do so, in California and in DC...white, black, yellow, brown and red....

My Tribute to Ronlad Reagan, The Gipper These are my feelings at the passing of a truly great American...one that history will show whose life and service to this nation we were all tremendously priveleged to have personally witnessed. Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) was simply the greatest President in my lifetime, and I believe the greatest President of the 1900's. Probably among the greatest three Presidents this nation has ever had. He epitomized the traditional American spirit of positive, can-do attitude, reliance on fundamental moral principle eminating from faith in God, dedication to the principles of individual liberty and a commitment...

I wanted to take a moment and give a progress report to everyone following my Dragon's Fury Series of novels. As many of you know, my father passed away on January 25th just past. It was sudden, and in that sense it was unexpected, but it was not a shock in the sense that Dad had suffered from serious heart ailements for the past 15 years, many of those instances reported here on FR. In any case, it was sorrowful because of the break in the association, the company and the great counsel and advise...but we rejoice in the knowledge...

THE RISING SEA DRAGON IN ASIA By Jeff Head, January 2004 In the 1990's the Poeple's Republic of China embarked on an unprecedented military buildup to modernize their aremd forces, increase their qualitative functioning and put them in a position to be able to better carry out the geo-olitical dictates of the Red Chinese government. This necessarily includes being able to develop themselves to a point that they could credibly confront the other armed forces in the region who may stand in the way of those geo-political directives, in particularly the United States. The buildup has covered the spectrum...
