Here's the place to post your pet peeves! Here are mine: 1. Liberals, lawyers, hypocrites, etc...wait, this list is getting redundant! 2. People who pronounce water as "wooter" and wash as "warsh", and strength/length as "strenth/lenth". So basically, people with Baltimore accents 3. Walking down a crowded hallway in school and the idiot in front of you stops and turns around 4. When people refer to the Czech Republic as just "Czech", or say "Slovakian" instead of the correct adjective, Slovak 5. Alarm clocks 6. People who whine. Oh wait, I already said liberals 7. Anti-war whackos, animal rights whackos,...

... Third, complexity does not imply “design.” One of Adam Smith’s most powerful insights, developed further by Friedrich Hayek, is that incredible complexity can emerge in society without a designer or planner, through “spontaneous order.” Hayek showed how in a free market the complex processes of producing and distributing goods and services to millions of individuals do not require socialist planners. Rather, individuals pursuing their own self-interest in a system governed by a few basic rules—property rights, voluntary exchange by contract—have produced all the vast riches of the Western world. Many creationists who are on the political Right understand the logic...

TEL AVIV – A Florida teenager lying in a coma here after being critically injured last week in a suicide bombing opened his eyes for the first time since the attack yesterday just as his rabbi donned him with teffillin, or Jewish prayer phylacteries. Daniel Wultz, 16, was one of over 60 people injured in last Monday's attack in which a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowded section of Tel Aviv as Israelis celebrated the fifth day of the Passover holiday. The blast ripped through a falafel restaurant just outside the city's old central bus station, killing...

For all Bush’s good qualities, the man can’t not spend money. This republican congress and president has spent an obscene amount of money. I find this behavior to be irresponsible during a time of war, to say the least. I know I’ve ranted about it before at length, but I’ll say it again: the federal government’s spending habits have far exceeded its constitutional mandate, and something has to be done.

VATICAN, January 30, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In an address to the leaders of the Christian Associations of Italian Workers Friday, Pope Benedict XVI warned, "As history demonstrates, a democracy without values easily turns into open or thinly disguised totalitarianism." Benedict was in fact making his own the statement first uttered by his predecessor John Paul II, who made the statement in 2000. (see coverage: http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2000/feb/00022501.html ) Benedict XVI highlighted how, in our time, science and technology "present huge possibilities for improving everyone's lives," but warned that "the misguided use of such power can provoke grave and irreparable threats to the...

Rev. R. Albert Mohler, Jr., the president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, says it's "an absolute revolt against God's design" if husbands and wives purposely avoid bearing children. On his Web site and other articles and interviews, Mohler argues that "marriage, sex and children are part of one package" and that "to deny any part of this wholeness is to reject God's intention in creation and his mandate revealed in the Bible." In a CNN interview, the Baptist leader added, “We grow up by having children. Without that responsibility, we have a generation of perpetual adolescents just growing old."
