The store manager of a Chick-fil-A in Torrance says the restaurant was targeted by vandals overnight. KNX 1070′s John Brooks reports a message that read “Tastes Like Hate” with a painting of a cow was discovered early Friday morning at the store located at 18200 Hawthorne Boulevard. Workers quickly painted over the graffiti as Torrance police officers were called out to the scene sometime around 6:40 a.m., according to police. Franchise owner Cole Donahoo said they never talk about politics, marriage or religion at the restaurant — they just serve food to anyone who comes in. “We just don’t even...

Two News & Record reporters returned to the office in the past hour after checking Chick-fil-A restaurants for on-site kissing by supporters of same-sex marriage. The reporters visited four Chick-fil-A's. They saw no kissing. We'll stop by local Chick-fil-A's again later today. Let us know if you see Chick-fil-A kissers. Kiss-ins, set for today, were to be same-sex marriage supporters' answer to Wednesday's -- what? -- eat-in. That's when supporters of Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's stance against same-sex marriage packed its restaurants in the Triad and elsewhere. Of course, 'tis easier and probably more fun to register support by eating...
  • Poll Position: Will today’s Chick-fil-A ‘kiss-in’ be successful?

The “buycott” of Chick-fil-A on Wednesday produced what the company will only describe as an “unprecedented day” for business. Today, we get the counter-protest...in the form of a “kiss-in” by gay couples angry about remarks made by company president Dan Cathy. Will it be as successful? Boycotts have a revered place in American history as an effective form of protest, in large part because of the role they played in the civil rights movement. Lately, however, the tactic’s record is much more spotty. Looking at one list of current boycotts, I don’t see many, if any, that I’d count as...

Vandals at a Chick-Fil-A in Torrance left a message on the restaurant Friday during a week of protests in response to the company president's comments regarding same-sex marriage. "Tastes Like Hate" and a cow with a paint brush appeared on the Torrance restaurant early Friday as same-sex marriage activists planned a "National Same-Sex Kiss Day" at Chick-fil-A locations nationwide. The kiss-in comes two days after a "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," which resulted in what the Georgia-based chain called a "record-setting" day. The company's executive vice president of marketing declined to offer sales figures to NBC News. Participants in Friday's counter-protest will...

Two days after backers of Chick-fil-A converged on locations around the nation in support, gay rights backers plan to strike back with a decidedly different kind of activism. Activists are planning a "National Same-Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A" on Friday. As part of the event, couples are encouraged to go one of the chicken restaurant's locations and take a photo or video of themselves kissing. It remains unclear whether this protest will generate the huge crowds that turned out Wednesday to a show of support for the company's CEO, who ignited a national debate by publicly expressing his opposition to...
