Burnsville officials found 10 fish, some a foot long, in Keller Lake earlier this month while surveying the fish population as part of a water quality project. On Monday, a second trip yielded 18 more fish, some 18 inches long and estimated to weigh about 4 pounds. The proliferation of the bright orange fish, which don't naturally live in Minnesota waters, is a problem that's plagued communities around the metro as pet owners seeking a humane next chapter for their pets — which hail from east Asia and are a smaller cousin of the common carp — end up adding...

A total of 10 expensive koi fish have now been killed and eaten by the otter as of Sunday morning; there were previously 14 adult koi living in the ponds at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park in Chinatown. As a result, staff at the Chinatown park have begun evacuating koi from the park’s ponds. On Saturday, crews moved in to begin rescue efforts. So far, only one fish has been moved to the Vancouver Aquarium for safekeeping; koi are also difficult to capture so it remains unclear how long the evacuation will take though crews are working to relocate the remaining...

President Trump and Japan Prime Minister Abe carried on a tradition of feeding carp at a Koi pond in Tokyo when CNN and the mainstream media decided to twist the narrative to make Trump appear like a buffoon. CNN ran the headline, “Trump feeds fish, winds up pouring entire box of food into Koi pond,” with a misleading tweet from reporter Veronica Rocha only showing Trump dumping the entire box of food. Her footage is conveniently edited to skip Abe doing the same thing. Abe dumped his entire box into the pond and Trump followed while the Prime Minister smiled....

One of the contributing factors to Donald Trump's election last year was the widespread perception that the media elites were completely detached from the rest of the country. Many see the media, with its credibility shredded, alternate between reckless mishandling of the truth and pathological lying. Take, for instance, an entirely manufactured controversy taken from President Trump's current visit to Japan. An otherwise uneventful photo op with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been falsely spun by the White House press corps as a massive diplomatic blunder. During the photo op, Trump and Abe were feeding koi in a pond...

Dave Mackie is running an online Sudoku competition where his luxury home in Lancashire will be given away as a prize. He has already received thousands of entries around the world, but will let his 'koi' pick the winner from the correct entries. The insurance broker and puzzle fan plans to install a touch sensitive pad in the pond and when the fish touch it one of the 14,000 entries will be selected. He hopes this will mean the fish select someone who will look after them when he moves out- though given it is random they are just as...

This would be a dreary day to be a fish in Lincoln Park's South Pond, what with the poison in the water and the sight of hundreds of your fish colleagues slowly floating to the surface. So if you're reading this, be thankful you're not a black crappie or a largemouth bass. But, for the sake of those that went belly up on Friday to make way for a $12 million pond restoration project, ponder for a moment this age-old question: Do fish feel pain?

FREEPORT, Maine --Armed game wardens seized 10 exotic fish from the tank of a popular Chinese restaurant, leaving its owner shaken and outraged. "They treated me like a criminal," said Cuong Ly, who escaped from Vietnam 25 years ago. "I lived under communism and I felt like I'm back there again." Ly, 45, said his pet koi were like family members and their confiscation in what he described as a heavy-handed raid made him "want to explode inside." After obtaining a search warrant, two uniformed wardens and a biologist, accompanied by Freeport police, visited China Rose on Wednesday, taking away...

HUNDREDS of pounds worth of ornamental fish have been stolen from outside the corporate headquarters of Hyundai UK, in Easton Street, High Wycombe. SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Two students at the University of California at Santa Cruz are facing expulsion and up to a year in prison after stealing an 18-inch (45-cm) koi fish from a campus pond, a university spokeswoman said on Saturday. Elizabeth Irwin said seniors Matthew Cox and Casey Loop had been charged with theft and malicious mischief after confessing to taking the koi -- Midas, also known as Goldie -- during the early hours of May 20. The fate of the fish was not known but Irwin said it was rumored to have been cooked and eaten as part...

SANTA CRUZ — A 20-pound fish named Midas is dead, and the county District Attorney’s Office will soon be on the case. A member of the UC Santa Cruz fraternity Delta Omega Chi, now taking part in an MTV reality show, said two members were the koi-snatching culprits, but that the frat as a whole had nothing to do with the incident. Campus spokeswoman Liz Irwin confirmed two students have admitted filching the fish from a Porter College pond in the wee hours of May 20, but she declined to name them. Campus police turned the case over to the...
