…the mainstream news picks up on the boldness — and insolence toward our masters– and demands that the hero apologize and be “disciplined.” Below is some hack, grind, mainstream journalist’s report on this “shocking” video, in the Detroit News — with my translations. Notice what the very tone of the title reveals: While a person from the community/ethnicity that Americans insist on being dumb about is TELLING us that these people were *not* the victims they claimed to be and that we’ve done something policy-wise that is not only self-destructive but destructive to the maturation of the Albanian community, here...

The United States is issuing unusually strong criticism of NATO ally Spain by expressing surprise at its decision to pull out its troops from the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. State Department spokesman Robert Wood says the United States was "deeply disappointed" by the decision. He says Washington only learned of the move shortly before Spain announced it publicly. Defense Minister Carme Chacon made the announcement Thursday, saying, "The mission has been completed and it is time to return home." Asked if the United States shared that assessment, Wood said, "Not at all."
  • Serbia to Offer Kosovo 95 Pct Autonomy (Last offer)

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) - Serbia will offer near complete autonomy to Kosovo during the first face-to-face negotiations with rival ethnic Albanians in New York later this week, a Serbian official said Monday. The minister for Kosovo, Slobodan Samardzic, said that Belgrade's new proposal includes giving the independence-seeking Kosovo Albanians ``95 percent competence'' in running the province. ``The Serbian proposal is new and specific and offers a form of maximum autonomy not seen in the world today,'' Samardzic said, adding that Kosovo would maintain ``weak and minimal'' links with Serbia.

As someone who has been following and writing about the events in the Balkans for over a decade, the announced death in myriads of newspapers throughout the world of President Ibrahim Rugova of Kosovo, was of deep interest to me. Virtually nothing is mentioned in the media nor in Congress anymore of the dire situation for the remaining Christian Serbian population in Kosovo. It is as though the Balkan war never happened, nor the consequences of that war. While Rugova's method of achieving independence for Kosovo is described as nonviolent he often found himself allied with Hashim Thaci, the leader...

Things look promising in Kosovo, despite the tender ministrations of the United Nations. -------------------------------------------------- Prishtina, Kosovo SOME OF THE FRESHEST and most distinctive voices of "new Europe"--Donald Rumsfeld's term for the former-Communist states that have joined the reunited continent as ardent supporters of capitalism, democracy, and other conservative values--are sounding off in a place so new, in its own way, that less than a decade ago most Americans had never heard of it: Kosovo. Isolated by the Albanian language, an ancient Indo-European tongue with no obvious relatives, as well as by the long-standing hostility of their rapacious neighbors, the Kosovars...
