The people who want to destroy the Trump presidency demand that John Lewis, be awarded absolute moral authority (shades of Cindy Sheehan) for his public denial of the legitimacy of the next commander-in-chief. At least that is the conclusion one must draw from the torrent of abuse Donald Trump has received for his tweets suggesting that Lewis should better spend his time helping his constituents. Lewis is invariably described as a “civil rights icon,” but the man is an utter fraud. He has been coasting on his 50-year-old reputation for decades. Andrew Breitbart exposed Lewis as a liar when he...

John Lewis, the famed Democratic Georgia Representative and civil rights leader, said that President-Elect Donald Trump is not a legitimate President. As much as I would like to reverse the clock and change the outcome of the election, everytime I think about that, I am reminded in my memory of how we, Democrats, failed to really come together under one unifying message.A lot of us were ignored by those in the DNC who achieved power-positions. Even long-time credentialed bloggers like me (Zennie Abraham, Zennie62.com, Zennie62 on YouTube) were ignored by the Clinton-controlled DNC brass, and left out of covering the...

John Lewis Makes A Fool of Himself On Capitol Hill... by refusing to attend the 2017 Inauguration. Lewis is apparently outraged over the loss of his party leader's bid for the presidency. Although Donald J. Trump won thirty of the fifty states and more individual counties than any other U.S. president since President Reagan, Lewis has been unable to accept his party's defeat. Accepting an uncomfortable loss is a life experience that escapes John R. Lewis, a man of 76 years of age. Lewis can be found declaring the President-Elect was not legitimately elected and promising to forego the Inauguration....

Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) responded to an attack from President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday by urging Democrats in a fundraising email to stand up to Trump. “Today Donald Trump attacked me on Twitter. He said that I’m ‘all talk’ and ‘no action,’” Lewis wrote in the letter from the Democratic National Committee (DNC). “I’ve been beaten, bloody, tear-gassed, fighting for what’s right for America. I’ve marched at Selma with Dr. King. Sometimes that’s what it takes to move our country in the right direction," the letter continued.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed pushed back Saturday on President-elect Donald Trump’s assessment of civil rights leader and U.S. Rep. John Lewis’ district. In a series of tweets, Reed said: “John Lewis is an American hero & a national treasure. Period. Full stop. “That PEOTUS Trump would attack Congressman Lewis on MLK Day weekend for “all talk…no action” when he bled to actually “Make America Great” is why far less than half the country supports him at the dawn of his presidency.” Trump said Lewis’s district was “in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested)” in an early...

A Senate Republican is blasting President-elect Donald Trump's criticism of Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), praising the lawmaker for his leadership in the civil rights movement in the 1960s. Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) on Saturday seized on Trump's characterization of Lewis as "All talk, talk, talk - no action," pointing out that his "talk" made a significant contribution in the civil rights movement. "John Lewis and his 'talk' have changed the world," Sasse tweeted.

In an exclusive interview with NBC News' "Meet the Press," Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) said he does not believe Donald Trump is a "legitimate president," citing Russian interference in last year's election. Asked whether he would try to forge a relationship with the president-elect, Lewis said that he believes in forgiveness, but added, "it's going to be very difficult. I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president." When pressed to explain why, he cited allegations of Russian hacks during the campaign that lead to the release of internal documents from the Democratic National Committee, and Hillary Clinton's campaign co-chairman,...

Congressman John Lewis, returning to the city where he launched a life of protest, said demonstrators objecting to the election of Donald Trump are justified in raising their voices. But those protesters should be peaceful and remain optimistic, the iconic civil rights leader said on a visit to Nashville, where as a college student in the 1960s he helped desegregate lunch counters and movie theaters. “I would say to the young people, the young protesters, and those not so young: Accept a way of peace, believe in the way of love, believe in the philosophy and the discipline of nonviolence,”...

More than two dozen House Democrats staged a "sit-in" on the House floor Wednesday in protest of GOP leadership's refusal to allow a vote on a gun control measure following the Orlando massacre. Led by Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), the civil rights icon, and more than 40 Democrats walked into the chamber just before noon and pledged to “occupy” the House floor until GOP leadership allowed a vote. Democrats have tried numerous times over the past week to force a vote on a so-called "no fly, no buy" bill, which would bar terror suspects on the “no-fly" list from purchasing...

Scientific evidence of an ancient invasion of Scotland from Ireland may have been uncovered by DNA techniques. Researchers from Edinburgh University said studies of Scots living on Islay, Lewis, Harris and Skye found strong links with Irish people. Early historical sources recount how the Gaels came from Ireland about 500 AD and conquered the Picts in Argyll. Scientists said the study was the first demonstration of a significant Irish genetics component in Scots' ancestry. The research, which features work by geneticist Dr Jim Wilson, a specialist in population genetics, is being featured in programmes on Gaelic television channel BBC Alba....

He seemed to have a separate life online. An online personals ad seeking women in North Carolina interested in bondage and sadomasochistic sex showed a picture that appeared to be Mr. Dear and used an online pseudonym associated with him. The same user also appeared to have turned to online message boards to seek companions in the Asheville area with whom he could smoke marijuana. On Cannabis.com, the writer said in December 2005: "AIDS, hurricanes, we are in the end times."

The Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon, a Labor Day television tradition for decades, is ending. MDA said Friday that “the new realities of television viewing and philanthropic giving” make it the right time to end the annual event, memorably hosted for most of its life by Jerry Lewis. Celebrities including Frank Sinatra, John Lennon and Michael Jackson to Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez have performed on the telethon, first hosted by Lewis and Dean Martin in 1956. It moved to Labor Day in 1966. The telethon ran 21 and a half hours in 2010, Lewis’ last year as host, and had dwindled...

Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 1:09 p.m. EDT Billionaires Secretly Met in Aspen to Defeat Bush In the days following the Democratic National Convention in Boston this past August, several billionaire Democratic activists secretly met at the famed Aspen Institute in Colorado. The purpose of their clandestine meeting was "to use their fortunes to engineer the defeat of President George W. Bush," The New Yorker magazine reports in its most recent edition. Details of the meeting remain sketchy, but the magazine described the Aspen conference this way: "Five billionaires joined half a dozen liberal leaders in a lengthy conversation about the...
