ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski is on the cusp of vindication after waging a high stakes - and long shot - write-in campaign to keep her job. Initial returns show write-in ballots holding a 13,439-vote edge over GOP nominee Joe Miller, and though it's not clear how many of those are for her or will be counted as valid, she's confident enough in her winning to tell supporters that they'd "made history." The write-in count starts Wednesday in Juneau.

Alaska Senate hopeful Joe Miller appeared on Fox News to discuss the vote counting that is currently underway in his undecided race. During the segment, a video was shown of a federal contractor , at a federal installation, saying he’s not telling them to vote for Joe Miller’s opponent Sen. Lisa Murkowski, but advised them a vote for her would continue to bring federal money to the state for the projects in which this contractor was involved.

In another boon for Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, write-in ballots cast for Republican candidate Joe Miller won’t count toward his total vote count. Alaska’s Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell, who oversees elections, told the Associated Press that write-in ballots for Miller will be tossed out.

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski told POLITICO unequivocally that she plans to caucus with the Republican Party if she wins her write-in campaign Tuesday. “I have caucused with the Republicans in the past, I will be caucusing with the Republicans when I go back in January,” said Murkowski in a phone interview, responding to recent news reports speculating whether she’d buck the party, and comments Murkowski made over the weekend saying that if elected, she would represent Alaska before the Republican Party.

ABC's Jonathan Karl reports: A high-level GOP source tells me that party leaders have essentially given up on Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller and are now banking on a victory by write-in candidate Lisa Murkowski as the best bet for Republicans to keep the Alaska Senate seat. Murkowski defied party leaders by running a write-in campaign after she lost the Republican primary last month. But with Miller's campaign faltering, the source tells me that Republican leaders are now worried that Democrat Scott McAdams has a shot of winning and that Murkowski may be the only way to stop him. It's...
  • Palin: 'Corrupt Bastards' At Alaska CBS Affiliate Tried To Create False Controversy About Joe Miller

Calling them "corrupt bastards," Sarah Palin has asserted that reporters at a CBS affiliate in Alaska tried to gin up false controversies surrounding the Republican senatorial candidate, Joe Miller. Palin said she has tape of CBS reporters in Alaska at a Miller rally that Palin organized this past Thursday saying "let's find a child molester in the crowd as a supporter for Joe Miller" and blast that, and seeking to suggest there was some kind of chaos along the lines that occured recently at a Rand Paul rally. "I support him in this fight because this D.C. Beltway thuggery, as exemplified by Lisa Murkowski’s latest threat, is ruining our country" That is Sarah Palin, from her Facebook page, boldly defending a talk show host who has often spoken against her in the past. What is going on? First, Senator Murkowski has tried to muddy up the Alaska US Senate race by getting the courts to force the disclosure of the names of "write-in" candidates to the voters when they get to the polls (What kind of silly notion requires that write-in candidates register in the first place!)...

We already know that Barack Hussein Obama Soebarkah AKA Barry Soetoro is not constitutionally eligible to be president, no matter where he was born. I also think it is very critical the fraud at all levels is exposed and dealt with. This includes the Obama COLB that was first posted online by the Daily KOS and then by Obama's FightTheSmears website, which both still have the forged COLB posted. Many in the Media claim, including the obots, that the short-form COLB is the only document obtainable by the Hawaii Department of Health, but, as proven here, that is not true...

Yesterday, Lisa Murkowski’s hired guns threatened radio host Dan Fagan, and more importantly, the station that airs Fagan’s show, with legal action for allegedly illegal “electioneering.” The station, unlike Murkowski, who is flush with millions of dollars from vested corporate interests, does not have a budget for a legal defense. So it did what any small market station would do when threatened by Beltway lawyers charging $500 to $1000 an hour – they pulled Dan Fagan off the air. Does all this sound heavy handed? It is. It is an interference with Dan Fagan’s constitutional right to free speech. It...

In a movement one pro-Sarah Palin website is calling “Operation Alaska Chaos,” at least 100 people filed paperwork Thursday to register as write-in candidates in the U.S. Senate election, according to the Division of Elections. A stream of would-be senators filtered through the elections office in Midtown Anchorage late in the day, many saying the effort is meant to protest an order by the Alaska Supreme Court on Wednesday allowing a list of write-in candidates to be shown to voters who ask for assistance. The idea of a mass registration is to create a long list of potential write-in choices...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Supreme Court has stayed a Superior Court injunction that bars the Alaska Division of Elections from providing lists of write-in candidates to voters at polling places, after an appeal by the state and Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s write-in campaign. The stay allows the division to continue providing the lists to early voters, but requires that only names and not party affiliations be listed. It also states that ballots cast prior to the injunction remain valid, but should be tallied separately. “In the interim period prior to this court’s ruling on the underlying Petition for Review, all...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- An Alaska judge on Wednesday granted a temporary restraining order stopping the state elections officials from handing out names of write-in candidates at polling places. The ruling is a setback for the campaign of incumbent U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who was defeated in the August GOP primary by tea party favorite Joe Miller and is mounting a write-in campaign. Former Sitka Mayor Scott McAdams is the Democrat in the race. Anchorage Superior Court Judge Frank A. Pfiffner said the division was in clear violation of an administrative regulation. The regulation reads, "Information regarding a write-in candidate...

A recommended read by Sarah Palin It has been with great distress that I have watched Sen. Lisa Murkowski serve, far too often, as the Statists' useful idiot - on the Law of the Sea Treaty and more recently trying to bargain on cap-and-trade. The latter came to fend off a growing, logical chorus seeking to simply and cleanly kill EPA's current Power Grab. In addition to heading that smarter move off, if successful her idea would instead, at best, only beggar a classic Washington deal...on something that should have a stake driven through its heart, not presented a cask...

You have to hand it to Alaska politics. Nowhere else in the world can make such an issue out of online opinion polls or jackets... After being an outside observer of this stuff for well over two years, I think I have a pretty good grasp on how this works. Conservative opposition (be they sponsored by the DNC or by VECO) use a willing media to hype up some supposed big scandal involving use of the court system to build said hype around, then release of targeted documents in order to build the perception of impropriety. Such was the case...

Is this it? Rostad said he received the phone call from Miller's father after Kodiak Republicans asked him to find out what happened at the Fairbanks borough. Rostad forwarded the results of the conversation to a number of Republicans in an e-mail sent Thursday night. Rostad wrote in the e-mail that Rex Miller told him there was a poll being conducted as part of the effort to oust Ruedrich as state Republican Party chairman. Here's how Rex Miller described what happened, according to Rostad's e-mail: "One noon hour, on his own time at the borough, Joe participated in an online...
