Last week Erik Wemple at the Washington Post wrote a really solid story about the firing of James Bennet from the NY Times. In case you’ve forgotten, Bennet was fired after he presided over the publication of an op-ed by Sen. Tom Cotton back in 2020. Cotton argued that the National Guard should be called out to deal with riots which were taking place in locations around the country in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. There was a huge backlash on Twitter and within the Times’ newsroom led by black staffers who argued (if you can call...
  • MSNBC's Cross: Pro-Life is 'Dancing With the Devil,' Pro-Abortion is 'Dancing With the Lord'

The Devil opposes abortion. The Lord supports abortion. That is the sick, twisted metaphor of MSNBC's Tiffany Cross. On her Cross Connection show Saturday morning, Cross condemned companies that on the one hand are offering to pay for their employees' travel to states where abortion is legal, but on the other hand, contribute to politicians who are pro-life. Complained Cross: "You can't dance with the Devil and the Lord at the same time."Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

🤡 Covid: 1 death is too many. 🤡Vaccine: 1 death isn't enough to be concerned about. 🤡Covid: This virus can cause severe side effects. Though rare, we must not turn a blind eye and we must take it seriously as we don't know who will be severely affected. 🤡Vaccine: Severe side effects are possible but so rare. Please don't pay attention or let anti-vaxxers scare you away from vaccinations. We don't have any way of knowing who will be affected, but it's a risk we must be willing to take for the good of society. 🤡Covid: Though you may have...
  • WHY LIBERALS HAVE JOINED DISCUSSIONS ON FREE REPUBLIC : THE BEAUTY OF A TRUMP VETO.

A Trump veto cannot be overridden and the Lib-Demo- Rhinos know it. No mistake, this terrifies them, and no amount of involuntary elitist chastening can change this. Yes, we are on to you, and it just doesn't matter anymore. A Trump veto takes away the pressure that has intimidated the Republicans for decades. Now, the question may be asked, " Has Republican intimidation been sincere, or simply an excuse to go along with the same interests that move the Democrats? ". We will see. If they are not sincere, they must be replaced. What is absolutely required, is to kill...
  • A Tax Reform Plan That May No Longer Work

My father, who was born in 1922 and lived his teens and early twenties during the unfortunate reign of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, whimsically embraced a tax reform plan that he sardonically explained to me once or twice during his hard-working life. The first step in this plan was to abolish the federal system of withholding taxes from a worker's paycheck -- a system enacted in 1943 by Roosevelt and a Democratic Congress. FDR wanted not only to limit the size of an individual's income, but also to seize a large share of it before the individual could lay his own...
  • Trump/Rubio ticket? (vanity)

I'm beginning to think that if Trump is the nominee, there is a good chance that he may pick Rubio as his running mate. Naturally, this is just a guess on my part but I have two reasons to speculate on this: 1. While Trump liberally criticizes Cruz, Kasich and Bush, I rarely hear him lambast Rubio. And, conversely, I don't recall Rubio going after Trump. At least not nearly as much as he does some of the other candidates. 2. The Trump campaign team thinking may be that having Rubio on the ticket would draw in more Hispanic votes...

Creating the infrastructure needed to push the crypto-currency to fruition If bitcoin transactions were less cumbersome, the digital currency could potentially become the premier international currency of the world. But as it stands, using cash or credit for everyday purchases is much more practical. Xapo, the bitcoin wallet and storage service, seeks to reshape this paradigm using a debit card that taps directly into a user’s bitcoin storage and is accepted anywhere in the world where MasterCard is. The Xapo debit card works similarly to a bank issued debit card, performing transactions in real time; when a user purchases a...

WASHINGTON (AP) - Attorney General Eric Holder says recent violent attacks show the need for a tougher hate crimes law. Holder, speaking Tuesday at a luncheon for civil rights lawyers, noted the recent killings of an abortion doctor in Kansas, a soldier in Little Rock, and a guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington. He called the attacks brazen acts committed in once-unthinkable places, and said it is past time for Congress to strengthen hate crimes laws to prosecute violence based on gender, disability, or sexual orientation.

I'm angry when I see the unfair united effort to shut out true conservatives like Duncan Hunter. Many Christian Conservatives are acting like cowards. They fear men rather choosing the very best person. Even if that person is not well know with a lot of money behind them. They ignore Duncan Hunter's stand on the issues. The people are not listening to him. He has a definite plan and vision for America. All the Rinos are starting copying him. He makes them look bad. The Rinos only see money. For themselves. They are more afraid of Hillary Clinton and the believe...

Most of those who know me would agree that I am the epitome of a knee-jerk liberal: any time a discussion turns to matters political or touching on social policy, I can be counted on to immediately take a point of view somewhat left of moderate liberalism. It makes sense, of course – I was raised in a family of Chicago Democrats during the sixties and my parents, now in their 80s, still retain the liberal fire they had while my brother and I were growing up.It is no easy task, therefore, to admit to the fact that I now...

WASHINGTON - The FBI's raid on a Democrat's office rippled through Capitol Hill Wednesday, with Republicans demanding that the bureau surrender documents and other items its agents seized under what lawmakers said were unconstitutional circumstances. "I think those materials ought to be returned," said House Speaker Dennis Hastert, adding that the FBI agents involved "ought to be frozen out of that (case) for the sake of the Constitution." A day earlier, the Illinois Republican complained personally to President Bush about the Saturday night raid of Rep. William Jefferson (news, bio, voting record)'s legislative office, saying it violated the Constitution's separation...
