Friday, 7 March 2003 Due to no one’s fault but my own (lack of planning on my part and work or family commitments on the part of USAF1991 and spinner55) I was flying solo again on Friday and Saturday. I arrived at the Stephenson County Courthouse at about 4:40pm on Friday, and while I was still getting my stuff out of the car I got the first reaction to the “HONK IF YOU SUPPORT OUR TROOPS” sign. A police officer in a cruiser parked across the street honked and extended his fist in support. I smiled and gave him the...

1,200 turn out with flags in square; 300 opponents show at Central Library Nearly 1,200 supporters of a war against Iraq withstood heavy snow and bitter winds Saturday to stage a rally at Cathedral Square in downtown Milwaukee. About a mile west, nearly 300 assembled inside the Milwaukee Public Library in a rally for peace and celebration of International Women's Day. Views at both rallies reflected the national debate that continues as the world watches the U.S. buildup of nearly 300,000 troops on the borders of Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Polls show most Americans support President Bush but would like the...

Demonstrations Support Troops, Peace March 9, 2003 By TINA A. BROWN, Courant Staff Writer Concerned that the discord between America's leaders and allies might dishearten U.S. soldiers getting ready for war with Iraq, families and friends of American troops rallied in Manchester Saturday. "We support our troops no matter what," said Sara Reid, of Vernon, whose son, Joe, left for the Middle East in January. "I pray for peace everyday," she said as she gripped an American flag. Reid was among about 300 men, women and children gathered in the parking lot at the VFW Anderson Shea Post No. 2046...

Members of the DC Chapter of Free Republic are conducting a surprise FReep of the March for Peace organized by NOW and the Code Pink Ladies and it is going on as I type. The Now and Code Pink Ladies will be joined by Raelian women (and Raelian men in touch with their feminine side) who plan a disrobing ceremony in front of the White House. Reports from the scene tell me that there's a bunch of Howard Stern fans who came to the White House today for the unveiling. Positioned on the North side of Lafayette Park, inside the...

Today was a great day in the town of Milledgeville, GA. A pro-Military and pro-America rally was organized by fellow FReeper eyespysomething. It took place in front of the courthouse in the downtown historical district. Approximately 200+ pro-America people turned out for the events which started with a color-guard presentation and various guest speakers. A singer was present, giving wonderful renditions of patriotic songs for the crowd. There were only 2 anti-American demonstrators present and accounted for. They boldly displayed thier "War for Oil" and anti-president Bush placards at the rear of the crowd. LBGA, .45MAN and myself arrived late...

Once again today two hundred odd peace protestors, anarchists and America-haters gathered at the junction of Hwy 51 and 70 in north central Wisconsin. I arrived scotto voce at 10am. By 10:30, the bulk of the useful idiots had gone home. I sincerely believe that the strong positive vocal support of vechicular traffic for Old Glory and my signs caused these folks to turn tail and run. I only had to explain the difference between assult and battery to one persistant idiot.

We had a beautiful day for the PIttsburgh Rally for Freedom at point state park. Some early birds like Badray gathered on the remains of the ramparts of Fort Pitt between ten and eleven. My son (prisoner6sson) and I were going to take the west busway. We waited for the 10AM bus but it never came. Dittos with the 10:20. It turned out the bridge that passes over the busway near my house decided to start falling apart and so there was basically no bus service. Luckily Daughter got home from dance school with the van so we jumped in...

Just got back from the Support Our Troops Rally in Milwaukee. LouD started us off with an inspirational speech (could you post a link or repost it here?). Charlie Sykes, Jeff Wagner, and Scott Walker made speeches and a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient was recognized. The wind howled and the snow began to fall, but spirits were high and attendance was outstanding.
