Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) called for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign Thursday morning over allegations that he met with Russia’s ambassador twice last year then made a statement indicating otherwise during his confirmation hearings. McCaskill has joined the dog pile of Democrats calling for Sessions’s resignation over the debacle. She threw some additional shade in the Attorney General’s direction Thursday morning by tweeting that she’s never met with Russia’s ambassador in the 10 years she’s served on the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services. {..snip..}

NASCAR champ Carl Edwards seems to be open to trading his driver’s seat for a spot in the U.S. Senate. The 37-year-old didn’t exactly rule out challenging Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, a Democrat whose second term in office expires in 2018. “I believe firmly in the principles that the U.S. was founded upon. If I could help, I definitely would consider it,” he texted to the Associated Press on Wednesday.

Terry Smith, a political science professor at Columbia College, speculated in a Wednesday piece for KBIA's Talking Politics that Edwards will challenge U.S. Sen. If Mrs. Clinton is forced to drop out of the 2016 presidential race due to her illnesses, and the Democrats choose centrists Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, or Claire McCaskill to replace her, would the Democratic base be enthusiastic, or would their turnout drop to where Mr. Donald Trump wins in a landslide?

Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said she did not believe Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump when he said his comments urging Russia to hack into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's email were "sarcastic" and she believed he violated the Logan Act and should be "investigated for that".

JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KTVI) – Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich died Thursday as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 54. Clayton Police Chief Kevin Murphy said officers were called to the auditor’s home in the 7100 block of Wydown Boulevard just before 9:50 a.m. for a reported gunshot victim.They found Schweich on the floor of his residence with a single bullet wound. Chief Murphy would not disclose where the gunshot wound occurred. Schweich was rushed to Barnes Jewish Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
