  • Falsely Accused Tea Partier to ABC's Brian Ross: 'What Kind of Idiot Makes That Kind of Statement?'

    07/23/2012 8:31:41 PM PDT · by tsowellfan · 97 replies
As NewsBusters previously reported, ABC's Brian Ross on Friday falsely accused a Tea Party member of being the "James" Holmes that orchestrated the movie theater massacre in Aurora, Colorado. "Jim" Holmes during an interview with the Daily Caller had some harsh words for his accuser saying, "What kind of idiot makes that kind of statement?” “Really, seriously, how do we take a journalist seriously when it’s pretty clear they really haven’t done any sort of check on their facts?” told the Caller's Alex Pappas: Holmes informed Pappas that ABC News didn’t contact him before Ross went on air. In fact,...
  • Mother of James Holmes Says She Didn’t Tell ABC Her Son Was the Killer [Updated](ABC lies AGAIN)

    New York Daily Mag ^ | July 23, 2012 | Joe Carscarelli
During the chaotic aftermath of the Colorado shooting on Friday, a particularly chilling moment came when ABC News spoke to the mother of suspect James Holmes by phone. The network reported that the woman, reached in California, "told ABC News her son was likely the alleged culprit, saying, 'You have the right person.'" The article also said that Holmes's mother was "apparently speaking on gut instinct" when she "immediately expressed concern her son may be involved in the shooting death of at least 12 people overnight." Today, she disputed that account, claiming her quotes were misused. If true, that would...
  • Brian Ross of ABC Takes Heat for Another Blunder

n television journalism, few reporters are as controversial as Brian Ross of ABC News. The investigative correspondent has landed major scoops and won prestigious awards for his reporting on the Peace Corps, Solyndra, and U.S. antiterrorism efforts — to name just a few. And yet, he has also produced more high-level haphazard reporting than perhaps any other reporter on television. Ross came under attack again Friday when he reported that James Holmes, the suspect of today’s theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., may have connections to the tea party — basing that on a single web page that listed an Aurora-based...
  • Why Did AP Do a 1,500-Word Expected Poverty Rate Writeup Months Before Census Bureau's Report?

    NewsBusters.org ^ | July 22, 2012 | Tom Blumer
In September 2010, the Associated Press prepared an advance report on the expected surge in the Census Bureau's official poverty rate, which rose from 13.2% to a 15-year high of 14.3%. Their stated preoccupation was not with the associated pain, but with "the unfortunate timing for Obama and his party just seven weeks before important elections when Congress is at stake." Well, this year's official poverty rate will very likely be the highest seen since the mid-1960s, and there's a presidential election coming up. What's the AP, aka the Administration's Press, to do? It looks like the strategy is to get...
  • Thanks ABC: Falsely Accused Tea Party Member Now Receiving Threats

ABC's Brian Ross may have apologized for linking Colorado Tea Party member James Holmes to the alleged violent "Batman" shooter who killed 12 and wounded 59 others in the early morning hours today, but that hasn't stopped threats against Holmes from rolling in. More from Twitchy:   More from Breitbart: Holmes is a 52-year-old Hispanic conservative who joined the Tea Party after becoming disillusioned with the Republican party. "It was freaky," said Holmes, describing his reaction when ABC News speculated that he was the culprit who entered a crowded theater and opened fire on dozens of innocent men, women, and...

No one can say we weren't warned. Twenty-two months ago Jed Babbin profiled ABC's "investigative reporter" Brian Ross, whose "fabulist record" had by then extended to nine years. How many more years will ABC give him before he's retired?

James Holmes, the suspect arrested in connection with the mass shootings at a screening of the new Batman movie early this morning in Aurora, CO, could be a registered Democrat, according to documents obtained by Breitbart News. Earlier, ABC News' Brian Ross and George Stephanopoulos speculated on Good Morning America that Holmes was a Tea Party member, based solely on a name appearing on a Tea Party website. The James Holmes for whom Breitbart News has obtained documentation is 25 years old (the suspect has been reported as 24 years old). He has links to addresses in both Colorado and...

The Republicans shamelessly turned what should be a routine matter into a pointless constitutional confrontation. And the White House responded as most administrations do at some point: it invoked executive privilege to make a political problem go away. (snip) Executive privilege cannot and should not be allowed to shield the executive branch from regular, valuable Congressional oversight. There was no reason the House committee and the Justice Department could not work out a deal to produce the documents requested, or some form of them. Instead, they show again that every issue, large or small, can be turned into ammunition for...
  • Mitt Romney has a Solyndra-like failure in his past, too: report [Oops...]

Mitt Romney has made a bankrupt solar power company the symbol of President Obama’s inability to jumpstart the economy - but he has a similar failure on his resume, according to a report. Romney has repeatedly ripped the Obama administration for sending federal funds to Solyndra, a California alternative energy company that went belly-up. Decrying the White House’s decision to give Solyndra a $535 million federal loan as “crony capitalism,” Romney even held a surprise campaign stunt at the Bay Area plant Thursday. But a day later, a Massachusetts solar panel company that received a state grant while Romney was...
  • Washington Post Makes Correction to Romney Hit Piece Without Notifying Readers

It is customary when a newspaper makes an after-publication correction or change to an article for it to notify readers that an alteration has taken place. Some time after the Washington Post published a 5000-word hit piece on Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney Thursday, a key edit was made to the article without such a notification.

You won’t hear it anywhere else but here – insiders have told us WTVJ reporter Jeff Burnside was fired last Friday for allegedly editing the Trayvon Martin 911 tape, the same tape NBC aired on ‘Today’ in early April. Allegedly, his firing wasn’t announced internally and so far there is no information whether NBC made a conclusion if the edit was misleading on purpose or if it was an oversight.

Voice recognition experts who spoke to The Daily Caller questioned the methodology and conclusions of a voice-identification analysis published by the Orlando Sentinel on March 31. Using two different forensic methods, the Sentinel’s chosen authorities determined that a scream heard in the background of a widely aired 911 call was not that of George Zimmerman, the man who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26 A police recording of the call captured part of the struggle that ended Martin’s life. The Sentinel’s reporting has landed a blow against Zimmerman’s self-defense claims, suggesting that it was Martin, not Zimmerman, who...

Americans are sharply divided by race in their opinion of the shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Florida by a Hispanic neighborhood watchman. A Gallup/USA Today poll finds that most black Americans (73 percent) think Trayvon Martin's shooter, George Zimmerman, would have been arrested if Martin had been white. Only 33 percent of non-Hispanic white people said the same thing. The racial divide on Zimmerman's guilt was also big: 51 percent of black people said Zimmerman is "definitely guilty" based on the information available, compared to only 10 percent of whites. About 20 percent of both whites and blacks...

The media dishonestly going after the president of the United States is wrong, but it goes with the territory, and the target in that case is the most powerful man in the world. That is something completely different from the media using lies and half-baked information to label as racist and a liar a private citizen while he's in hiding for fear of his life.

(Reuters) - An internal NBC News probe has determined a "seasoned" producer was to blame for a misleading clip of a 911 call that the network broadcast during its coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting, according to two sources at the network. NBC News brass interviewed more than half a dozen staffers during its investigation of the misleadingly edited 911 call placed by George Zimmerman just before he shot the unarmed Florida teenager, said the sources, one of whom is an executive at the network. The clip aired on the network's flagship "Today" morning show last week. The edit made...

Critics say the "Today" show attempted to incite racial anger when it cut crucial seconds from audio of a phone call placed by George Zimmerman just before he killed the teenager. In Interview With Piers Morgan, George Zimmerman's NBC News is being excoriated in some circles – with competitor Fox News Channel leading the charge – for selectively editing audio of the 911 call placed by George Zimmerman just before he killed Trayvon Martin. The NBC segment in question featured anchor Ron Allen and ran on the Today show on Tuesday. On Thursday, Sean Hannity and guest Brent Bozell played...
