This is a mystery that has me dumbfounded. I sometimes record old vinyl records one song at a time onto individual wave files. I then create a homemade CD. Several years a go I did this for an album that was never produced on CD. The album is Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes “In The Heat”. I have a new Ipod and took this homemade CD off the shelf and inserted into the computer. Much to my astonishment Itunes immediately displayed all album information including album name, all tracks, and the times of each track. Not believing what I...

Microsoft says it is no longer developing a Mac version of its Windows Media Player for Mac, following the announcement of a separate five-year agreement with Apple to develop Office for the Mac and Messenger: "We have no plans to provide future updates or product support for Windows Media Player for Mac," Adam Anderson, Microsoft public relations manager, told CNET News.com. Microsoft said that it had a made a "business decision" to halt development and product support because it was re-examining its business priorities: "Our focus really is in delivering the best experience to Windows customers." Ironically, the announced followed...

Is there a way (via some available sftware, perhaps) to save a Realauidio or Windows Media Player file so that it could be replayed from one's PC or burned to a CD? I like to listen to Rush on his 24/7 site, and to some football games, but wish I could download and save these programs, burn a mini CD and then listen while working in the yard. Can this be done?

Check this out: Yesterday Europe's antitrust czar, Mario Monti, ordered Microsoft to offer a version of its Windows operating system without the currently included Windows Media Player, which allows computers to play music, movies and the like. Oh, the commission also fined Microsoft $612 million for "bundling" Media Player into Windows. But that's not the weird part.

European Union Hits Microsoft With Record Fine, Orders Business Changes Mar 24, 2004 By Paul Geitner / The Associated Press BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - The European Union declared Microsoft Corp. guilty of abusing its "near monopoly" with Windows to foil competitors in other markets and hit the software giant with a record fine of 497.2 million euros ($613 million) Wednesday. The EU's antitrust authority said that "because the illegal behavior is still ongoing," it was also demanding changes in the way Microsoft operates. It gave Microsoft 90 days to offer computer manufacturers a version of Windows without the company's digital...
