According to insiders, NBC political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd is the rightful heir to Gregory, but he has not been officially offered the job. Other names said to be in the frame include “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie, who comes from a political background but is unlikely to be released from the flagship morning show where she’s hugely popular. Guthrie is also due to give birth to her first child next month and will return to “Today” after maternity leave. MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” team of Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have also been said to be angling...
  • Did David Gregory on Meet the Press violate the law by holding up a 30 round magazine?

Let's get an arrest warrant out for David Gregory.

On NBC's Meet The Press,' just now (May 13, 2012: Jamie Dimon said it's not fair to blame 'all banks,' you know of a particular bank that does something wrong go after that specifically. I accept all criticism. I am now "barely a democrat." Asked: 'What do you mean "barely a Democrat," Are you not a Democrat anymore? I mean I am still a Democrat... but BARELY... The current admin. - (environment) very 'anti-Business.' I don't blame the president but the Democrats were much more destructive than the Republicans.

Did the Secretary of Defense need to be defended . . . or jerked back into line? Hillary Clinton apparently thought so. It was a stunning power play. On Meet The Press this morning, after Defense Secretary Bob Gates conceded that Libya is not a "vital interest" of the United States--but before he could complete his comments--Hillary cut him off. She launched into a minute-and-forty-second monologue seeking to justify US military involvement in Libya. Gates had to sit and take it . . . and never got to say another word. View video here.
  • Matthews Furious As Olbermann Lifts His Lines

Another chapter in the ongoing Matthews-Olbermann feud, or simply Chris's frustration with a technical glitch? Yesterday, a catfight broke out between the two when Olbermann suggested Matthews had stolen an idea from two female pundits, and later made a hand gesture mocking Matthews gabbing [YouTube here, h/t Undercover Black Man]. Were the warring duo at it again this evening? You be the judge. Click on the image to the right to view the video. Again co-anchoring the MSNBC desk with Olbermann tonight, Matthews was just about to throw it to Luke Russert out on the convention floor. The son of...
  • AP's 'Centrist' Obama Just Another Liberal

(AP) London, March 2, 1867: Karl Marx, a rising star among centrist economists, announced today the publication of the first volume of his work, 'Das Kapital'.OK, perhaps I exaggerate a tad. But is there any man of the left that the MSM is unwilling to cast as a "centrist" or moderate, particularly when he is seen as a potential Democratic presidential nominee? The Associated Press offers a perfect illustration of the phenomenon this evening. This article reports Barack Obama's indication on today's Meet The Press that, earlier protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, he is indeed contemplating a run for the...
  • "Feckless and Misdirected": Today of all Days, Why Did Katie Cuff Congress?

by Mark Finkelstein March 10, 2006 If ever Congress might think it was in for some Perky-One praise, it was this morning. After all, the kids on the Hill had just dealt President Bush a humiliating defeat on the ports deal, while safeguarding our terminals from those fanatical furriners. But - surprise! - Katie came not to praise Congress, but to bury them. In her interview of Tim Russert, Couric quickly turned the talk to the fact that "only 5% of the cargo coming into this country is checked. It might be one of the biggest national security threats we...
  • Howard Dean: Osama bin Laden Had Nothing to do with 9/11

DR. DEAN: I said I wasn't sure, but I said I thought there probably were. But the thing that really bothered me the most, which the 9-11 Commission said also wasn't true, is the insinuation that the president continues to make to this day that Osama bin Laden had something to do with supporting terrorists that attacked the United States. That is false. The 9-11 Commission, chaired by a Republican, said it was false.
