LAKE OZARK, MO (KOMU/CNN) - A bar is getting criticism for a doormat that's being called racist. The makeshift mat of NFL jerseys started as a stance against anthem protests. Jason Burle has been running a Lake of the Ozarks bar for almost two years, a project that gives a nod to his military roots. His father served in the Navy from 1969 to 1973 during Vietnam. He, too, served in the military, and now his son. In the “hallway of heroes” around the corner from the bar, there is a reminder of what the Snafu Bar is really about....

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints now owns the printer’s manuscript of the Book of Mormon — for $35 million, the sellers say. The Community of Christ, formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, announced the sale, and the price tag, on Wednesday. The Independence, Missouri-based church has owned the manuscript since 1903. Steven E. Snow, LDS Church historian and recorder, confirmed the acquisition, calling the document both a spiritual and historic treasure. Church officials did not immediately confirm, but also did not challenge, the stated sales price when contacted Thursday.
  • Why Did the Judge Acquit a St. Louis Police Officer of Killing a Black Man?

Why Did the Judge Acquit a St. Louis Police Officer of Killing a Black Man? Bob Adelmann The decision on Friday to acquit a white St. Louis police officer in the fatal shooting of a black man back in December 2011 predictably set off rioting in the city. It didn’t occur to the rioters that, according to the evidence in the case, Officer Jason Stockley’s use of force was reasonable, to defend his own life against a potentially lethal threat exhibited by Anthony Lamar Smith. It didn’t matter that the judge found that the state failed to prove its allegation...

FULL TITLE: Kansas suspends abortion doctor for failing to take a sample of a 13-year-old's fetus after she 'had sex with her 19-year-old boyfriend' Kansas suspended a former Planned Parenthood doctor's state medical license for failing to preserve a fetal tissue sample from a 13-year-old girl's abortion so that it could be sent to authorities after she allegedly had sex with a 19-year-old. The State Board of Healing Arts concluded that Dr Allen S. Palmer violated Kansas law during the December 2014 abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park. Kansas requires fetal tissue...

A St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter is among the 80 people arrested by St. Louis police late Sunday after protests in the city turned combative. The newspaper reports on its website that Mike Faulk was covering the protest and its aftermath when he was taken into custody as police cleared a street early Monday. The report doesn’t say if Faulk has been charged or released. City police say they will release a statement later.

Once again, big city Democrat politicians have failed us. A deep societal wound was opened this past weekend in the Show Me State, with Ferguson, the false clarion call of “Hands Up Don't Shoot,” and the Black Lives Matter marches all still fresh in our memories, another. The acquittal on Friday of a white cop on trial for murder for fatally shooting a black man in 2011 after a high-speed chase was immediately met with demonstrations and violence including attacks on police, property, and the media. That was predictable, but what was equally and sadly on display were incendiary comments...

Destroying libraries? Sure. This is what the left supports. While the media keeps lying that the St. Louis race riots are "peaceful protests" (as it has been doing in response to every black nationalist race riot since Ferguson), here's what the left's racist black nationalist thugs are actuallu up to. Trashing libraries. The Schlafly branch in St. Louis suffered broken windows at the hands of the racist thugs. The library reopened at midday after the staff went "literally... book by book" to check for glass fragments, said library director Waller McGuire. He arrived at the library at 2 a.m. Saturday....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen a single article on Free Republic, or on any place I frequent, talking about the three nights (so far) of rioting in St. Louis after that verdict. St. Louis police is reporting on their twitter that just tonight, there has been significant damage done to businesses in the downtown area, chemicals thrown at police, arrests, injuries received by cops, and weapons and ANTIFA/BLM flags confiscated from violent criminals. See the link above for more information, as I don't know how to post pictures from twitter onto free republic, unfortunately.
  • Jason Stockley, whose acquittal fueled riots, speaks out without shame: ‘I did nothing wrong’

Jason Stockley, the former police officer whose acquittal sparked three days of riots and protests in St. Louis, says he did not murder Anthony Lamar Smith. “I did nothing wrong,” Stockley told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “If you’re telling the truth and you’ve been wrongly accused, you should shout it from a mountaintop.” Stockley, 36, was acquitted by Judge Timothy Wilson of first-degree murder in the 2011 shooting of Anthony Lamar Smith, a 24-year-old black man with a lengthy police record. During his 28 years on the bench, Judge Wilson has ruled both for and against police. Before the shooting,...

St. Louis police say there were 33 arrests, 11 injured officers and property damage to Mayor Lyda Krewson's house during Friday protests. They also say there was damage to two police vehicles, the St. Louis Public Library and 10 businesses as protesters marched downtown and in the Central West End. St. Louis interim police Chief Lawrence O'Toole says Saturday evening that five officers were taken to hospitals after being hit with bottles or bricks. The arrests of protesters included many for failure to disperse, resisting and interfering....

By early evening, protesters had dissipated from downtown and were gathering in the Central West End. Hundreds filled the street there as they marched through the neighborhood. ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - A Missouri judge on Friday ruled a white former St. Louis police officer was not guilty of murder in the 2011 shooting of a black man, sending hundreds of protesters to the city's streets to voice their anger. With the National Guard on standby in case of violence, authorities appealed to protesters to march peacefully in a state that has seen racially charged clashes in the past. Jason Stockley, 36, was acquitted of first-degree murder for killing Anthony Lamar Smith, 24. The former policeman, who was arrested in May 2016, was accused of planting a gun...

Abortion activists are thanking Satanists this week for making it easier for Missouri women to abort their unborn babies. Together, the abortion giant Planned Parenthood and The Satanic Temple have been fighting viciously to promote abortions and block efforts to protect unborn babies and moms in Missouri. “Abortion access in Missouri is getting easier thanks to Planned Parenthood and Satanists,” a headline at the liberal news site Slate said Tuesday. Breitbart reports the Satanists and the largest baby killing business in the country managed to gain a few victories in the state through their joint efforts this year. For the...

ST. LOUIS • Former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley was found not guilty Friday of murdering a man while on duty. St. Louis Circuit Judge Timothy Wilson's highly anticipated verdict found a white former St. Louis police officer not guilty of first-degree murder and amed criminal action in the December 2011 shooting death of a black drug suspect after a high-speed pursuit and crash. Activists, with support from some of the city's black clergy, had pledged disruptive protests ahead of St. Louis Circuit Judge Timothy Wilson's verdict.

The Democratic Missouri lawmaker who said on social media she hoped President Trump would be assassinated was publicly censured by the state's Republican-led Senate Wednesday. "Again, I apologize for the Facebook posting," Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal said in a statement released to local media after the reprimand measure passed the Missouri Senate 28-2. "However, I have made it clear that I will not resign. The voters of my district elected me to represent them. I will work tirelessly for the remainder of my elected term to bring about positive change for my constituents and all Missourians." The same legislative body failed...
