Sarah Palin and the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle There is a principle in quantum mechanics holding that increasing the accuracy of measurement of one observable quantity increases the uncertainty with which another conjugate quantity may be known. In simpler terms, the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle states that you cannot make a measurement without affecting the results of the measurement. The mere fact you make the measurement influences the accuracy of the results. Some thinkers have elevated the uncertainty principle to the status of a philosophical principle, called the principle of indeterminacy. How does this principle apply to Vice-Presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin?...

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Talk about your pushy New Yorkers. Strutting into Jacobs Field for the weekend, the Yankees made themselves right at home. They bullied the Cleveland Indians before leaving with three wins and the same confidence that has made them champions many times before. "I feel like we're the team," Andy Pettitte said. When weren't they? Pettitte didn't have much trouble with Cleveland's lame lineup and Jason Giambi homered for the second straight day as the Yankees beat the Indians 5-3 to complete a series -- and season -- sweep on Sunday. Written off in May when they trailed...

The former Baywatch star appeared in Jett's new music video ACDC in May and the two have reportedly been close ever since. Rocker Joan Jett and Carmen Electra were spotted indulging in a steamy kissing session after Jett's recent concert in Los Angeles. The former Baywatch star appeared in Jett's new music video ACDC in May and the two have reportedly been close ever since. A source who was backstage after the concert tells American publication Star, "They weren't even trying to hide it. They were fully kissing and going at it." "There were very physical with hugging and kissing...

Robert Pastor intends to give away U.S. sovereignty to a newly forming North American Union exactly as he gave away the Panama Canal to Panama during Jimmy Carter’s presidency. As we are taught in grade school, George Washington is the Father of our nation. If the North American Union comes into existence as the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) asserts, then we all better get prepared for a new hero. Robert Pastor is the person most likely to be proclaimed the father of the North American Union, a designation consistent with his decades-long history of viewing U.S. national interests through the...

I see so many people asking to be put on the 'ping list', what does that mean? I also see that you can be 'pinged' if something you are interested in is posted. Are you notified someway? Thanks

THESE ARE THE SENATORS WHO VOTED TO GIVE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS TO ILLEGAL ALIENS REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL PARTY, THESE POLITICIANS NEED TO BE DEFEATED IN 2006, 2008 OR 2010, WHENEVER THEY NEXT COME UP FOR OFFICE. SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW; THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES NEEDS TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION -- THAT IS, UNLESS THEY DO NOT MIND SHARING THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY WITH FOREIGN WORKERS WHO NEVER PAID INTO IT AND AMERICAN CITIZENS ARE BEING LEFT OUT. Grouped by Home State Alabama: Alaska: Stevens (R-AK), Yea Arizona: McCain (R-AZ), Yea Arkansas: Lincoln (D-AR), Yea Pryor (D-AR),...

I am curious why none of the media covers the most important aspect of the Malvo shootings. If you look at Newspapers on the dates when the shootings are underway you discover something I find quite interesting. The shootings begin to dominate the news the day before the debate on the Iraq war starts and they catch them the day after the declaration of war??? If you ask most people "do you remember the debate about starting the second Iraq war", they will all answer "yes of course". But if you followup with the question "name one point in the...

I recently received a reply to a post that stated: "This should be beneath a "freeper". Sad." So I asked.. what is it that makes a FReeper? My reply (and I will admit was tasteless) was also questioning. It stirred controversy and was removed? Why Moderators? Can you not tell me? Did it not meet with your "FReeper" mentality? According to all posted guidelines it should be listed but no, you chose to delete it. Yes.. I'm the first one IBTZ, I'm sure you'll nick me for speaking up..

Thought it might be fun to get a little off the serious news stories and ask about this. You know the songs. The ones that many women love and guys just roll their eyes and pretend to like so they can make out. So, what are you favorites?

The taxes/"fees" on my telephone service just went up ...again. Am I the only one who finds an 80% (79.483) tax just a shade outrageous? Any links to groups fighting this extortion would be appreciated.

Fellow Americans, there comes a time every mans life when we must give up ourselves before we are worthy to recieve. There comes a time in this war on terror when in order to protect liberty, we have to give it up in the mean time for safty. That's right folks. Today, Americans have forsaken the creator for the creation and have decided that they would value our "civil liberties" than protecting western civilization and rich white people from the tender mercies of radical Islamic terrorists. Selfish liberals insist and whine that Bush has no right to spy on Americans...

Yaa, you repukes are not doing so well, huh? Imagine, you repukes control the presidency, both houses of Congress, and appointed 7 of the 9 Supreme Court justices. Yet the Supreme Court thre out sodomy laws in all 50 states and recognized the right of government to seize land for any reason. And you couldn't pass your Social Security changes could you? Sorry, that was your last shot. Come November, we're going to start seeing more Democratic faces in the House. It's the end for you guys. You guys are celebrating when Bush's numbers go *up* to 45%. Then Faux...

Bush’s giant Right Wing Noise Machine (RWNM) loves to preach about the Bush economic miracle. In fact, the RWNM’s current thinking is Bush doesn’t spend enough time talking about his economic triumphs. If only he did, then everyone would fall in line and believe in the great Bush economic miracle. There is one problem with this argument: it’s a lie. Any way you look at the Bush economy, it comes up short. Today, I want to compare Bush’s job creation record with other economic recoveries. As usual, Bush comes up way short. The national Bureau of Economic Research has identified...

Why does anybody support George w Bush as President? He is clearly the worst President I have ever seen -- a complete disaster. And before you say anything, I have been a registered Republican for 25 years.

After reading all of the crap that people have been saying regarding Adult Private Social Clubs, I felt that I had to post an article and give my opinion. I am sick and tired of all the religous groups that are saying that there are drugs, prostitution, minors, non-consenting people, and just immoral people at these clubs! First of all, who do these people think they are to decide what is morally right or wrong for me? I believe that I have a good set of morals. I am a law abiding, tax paying citizen, I work full time and...

Lies of omission about 9/11 -- stoking fears of terrorism THEY WANT YOU TO BE AFRAID The following post was censored by freerepublic.com shortly after it was posted on their "public" forum on 9/11/04. That forum is designed to appear as though it is a community forum open to all, but this post only received three responses before it and its replies were deleted, and a repeat posting at 4 am PST on 9/20/04 didn't stay online for 5 minutes! Someone is apparently watching closely over the content of the freerepublic.com forums and censoring them 24/7 (though they might have...

You people are jerks. Not likeable jerks either, but the kind folks would like to smack in the back of the head with a shovel. Think Judge Snells from Caddyshack or Neidermier from Animal House.

Concluding Question: The Meta-Group and the United States Government It seems clear that the meta-group, with its influential connections on at least three continents, was powerful enough to effect changes, through the Russian 9/11, in Russian history. The question arises whether they could similarly effect changes in American history as well. As we have seen Russian sources claim that the U.S. Government has had access to he meta-group, for such especially sensitive projects as the assassination of Abu al Walid al-Hamadi. They claim the meta-group's involvement in a number of U.S.-sponsored regime changes in eastern Europe, from the overthrow of...

Put it here and keep it out of the threads.I don't think anyone finds it funny anymore. Someone please, add Bush's Fault to Lake Superior State University list of blacklisted words. Face the music. It's time you bite the bullet and go back to the drawing board to find something more cutting edge. No pennies for your thoughts, just better late than never because your beating a dead horse beyond the shadow of a doubt.

This is the vainest vanity I've vanitized. My blog (http://bibchr.blogspot.com/) just went whack on me, out of nowhere. Look! The right side panel is on the floor! I did nothing, I changed nothing. I can't figure the code problem. Blogger hasn't answered me, readers have no idea. My guesses haven't worked! FR has the best assortment of techiegeeks I know -- and I use that as a term of respectful endearment. So I turn to you. Anyone with a clue? Please, ping your tech FRiends if you haven't one. (A clue, I mean... not a friend.)

I used it twice today...why do I feel like a "snitch"? Most times I use it, like today, its for language. Am I wasting the Mods time or what? I never expect a response from the Mod or expect what I report on to be acted upon...I use it simply as a, "Hey I saw this and maybe you should know about it" kinda tool.

Many argue that communism will never be possible because of "human nature". The essence of this false argument is the belief that a communist society would consist of an all-powerful central government that would tell everybody what to do--and would therefore undermine the creative initiative of individuals and the search for happiness. • This argument is based on two false assumptions: (1) It assumes that a communist society will look like the former Soviet Union, or the current China, North Korea, etc (ie: corrupt police states with a feudal-style ruling class) (2) It assumes that people will only work in...

Gas costs so much. I cant afford it. Why want Bush do something? Don't say he can't. His daddy or his handlers could be on the phone in 2 minutes with the Rothchilds and by 1 week, oil prices would be under $20 and gas would be 1 dollar a gallon. You know it and I know it. Why want he? Do you know? Is there sombody we can call? Plaese advice.

I like feeling wanted, but over the past several months I've noticed I'm getting pinged for things that I don't know (and unfortunately don't really care) about. The only ping list I remember signing up for is PJ's DUmmie FUnnies. Most of the other stuff is interesting, and it's nice to be invited into conversations, I'm just wondering if this is a common occurance with FReepers...or am I just odd? And really most of this stuff didn't start until I started with DUmmie FUnnies... or maybe that's the only time I really started noticing it. Any answers? Thanks

So, I just want to share how NOT to do something with you allIn Central Florida a group is advertising a place called "The Villages" as a great place to live.....BUTThey don't tell you where it is, and when you call the number, even THEY don't know where it is.....Now imagine all the money these fools paid to the ad agency to develop the ad and campaign, the money they paid to the stations to run the ad, and the phone company to answer the calls, and yet nowhere is the location of the "Villages" known.....I don't know about anyone...

Welcome to the ongoing vanity saga of my new backyard Koi Pond. A while back, I created a frantic post after discovering that Great Blue Herons were eating my Koi, so I asked FReepers for advice. Later, after installing a "Scarecrow", an infra-red, motion detecting, water sprinkler, I created a second post describing my success in using this device to ward off the Herons and preserve my expensive fish. During that thread, some folks requested that I post some pictures of my newest pond. So, after picking up a very cheap digital camera on Ebay, I started taking pictures. I...

If Osama bin Laden ever buys a rap album, he'll probably start with a CD by KRS-One. I read an old post through here about a teen that was thrown out of her house because she got pregnant.. And that she wanted to put it up for adoption. That is why I am posting today. My husband and I are 24. He is in the U.S. Army and I am a housewife. My husband and I have been trying for over 4 years to have a child of our own. We were just told we will never be able to because we both have problems. We want so badly to have a complete family. We have looked into...

Newly signed up as lightingguy, he has lurked as long as I have posted and only just now, with the bait of free Fantasy Football (w're the Stow Steelers in League 2), have I managed to get him to finally put the other foot in! We have travelled the journey from the left to the right pretty much in step over the years and he is truly my best friend and the one I believe intended for me by...

Has America ever captured the leader of a foreign country that was our enemy before? Revolutionary War: Nope. 1812 War with Canada: Nope.Spanish/American War: Nope.World War One: Nope.World War Two, Germany: Nope.World War Two, Italy: Nope.World War Two, Japan: Close, but I don't think we actually took the Emperor into custody.Vietnam War: Nope. This is an unprecedented event. Our behavior will be scrutinized. I have no doubt we will behave honorably -- it is our way -- but this is a precendent-setting event and will probably be the model for all other countries we invade, should the need arise. That...

A stock broker, on his way home from work in New York City, came to a dead halt in traffic and thought to himself, "Wow, this seems much worse than usual. He notices a police officer walking beween the lines of stopped cars, so he rolls down his window and asks, "Officer, what's the hold up?"The officer replies, "Hillary Clinton is depressed, so she stopped her motorcade and is threatening to douse herself in gasoline and set herself on fire. She says her husband is running around on her more than ever and the Democrats told her to forget about running...

LOS ANGELES -- Congratulations, Bud Selig, you're off the hook for the All-Star Game tie. The baseball commissioner is looking like Winston Churchill next to the six commissioners responsible for concocting a system that prevented the No. 1 team in college football from playing in the national championship game. "The polls are clear," USC coach Pete Carroll said. "There's not even a question as to who the No. 1 team in the country is." The Trojans are No. 1, but they will play in the Rose Bowl against No. 4 Michigan. No. 2 LSU and No. 3 Oklahoma will play...

I'm in a debate on another forum. If I'm anticipating correctly, I need some on-line pictures from left-wing rallies in the U.S. where protesters had signs that equated the Star of David to the swastika or carried a mock Israeli flag with a swastika in place of the Star of David.

Rush has spent the last several minutes likening Bush to Nixon. Nixon gave us OSHA and the EPA. Bush is giving us Prescription Medicine benefits for seniors. Rush says the Republican party cannot claim to be the party of smaller government. This sounds likme the OLD Rush of 10 years ago! Go Get Em Rush!

ESPN to Show 'Straight Eye for the Homo Guy' (2003-08-15) -- The Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) announced today that its fall lineup will include 'Straight Eye for the Homo Guy', a new show based on a similarly-named program on another network. On each episode a team of five heterosexual males will do a "makeover" on one homosexual man. Preview screenings of the pilot showed the five guys uncomfortably shuffling around the menswear section at Wal-Mart picking out trousers for a guy named Maurice, who they refused to take with them. The men get frustrated after about 30 seconds...

Apologies for the vanity post. But I want to rant a bit.In the past few months, ping lists have proliferated to the point of annoyance. And it is especially irksome to find oneself on a list without having requested inclusion. There's a word for this: .Ponder this question, Chester: Did I ask to be on your #%&@ing ping list? No? Well, then. Draw the logical conclusion. If I wish to be on your ping list, rest assured you'll be the first to know. But while you wait with bated breath for my entreaty to be a party to your wisdom,...
