NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — An American diplomat who police say was speeding crossed the center line in his SUV and rammed into a full mini-bus, killing a father of three whose widow is six months pregnant, officials said Friday. U.S. Embassy officials in Nairobi rushed the American and his family out of Kenya the next day, leaving the crash victims with no financial assistance to pay for a funeral and for hospital bills for the eight or so others who were seriously injured.

Talk about deja vu all over again. There was something awfully familiar about Bill Clinton's hissy fit on Fox News last Sunday. What was it, exactly? The finger-pointing? The raised voice? The way he kept interrupting his interviewer? The mounting furor that threatened to reach red-in-the-face levels despite the pancake makeup? The attribution of base motives to a reporter who'd dared question him about something he'd done? Or, in this case, what he hadn't done to prevent a terrorist attack on this country. It was an operatic performance. All the Sturm und Drang was there, if not the art. But...

The Note: 9/11/2006 One Nation BY MARK HALPERIN, DAVID CHALIAN, TEDDY DAVIS, MATT STUART, and EMILY O'DONNELL with KARUNA SESHASAI, CATRIN JONES, MONA RAPHAEL, and ERICA ANDERSON — - WASHINGTON, Sep. 11 In this week's New Yorker, David Remnick turns in an excellent and truly must-read behind-the-scenes look at Clinton's post-presidential life and travels. For those interested in all things Clinton, it has Bill Clinton on the record saying things he normally won't say on those terms ("I am sick of Karl Rove's bullshit." and attacking the Washington Post's Sue Schmidt), and talking about presidential politics, including saying John Edwards...
  • Sen. Clinton Blasts Bush's Anti-Terrorism Record

Bush's Anti-Terrorism Record (CBS/AP) SCHENECTADY, N.Y. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a possible contender for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in 2008, on Monday criticized the Bush administration for failing to do enough to protect the country from terrorists. Clinton's comments came after authorities in the United Kingdom last week said they thwarted a terror plot involving airplanes bound from Britain to the United States. Conspirators allegedly planned to blow up as many as 10 planes flying from Britain to the United States using liquid explosives, which the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's security equipment cannot detect in carry-on luggage. "We've done...
