LOS ANGELES, November 9, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – A referendum passed on Tuesday is drawing attention to the unhealthy conditions of the pornography industry—and how pornographers profit by placing young people at risk of diseases from syphilis to AIDS. On November 6th, Los Angeles County voters passed a referendum requiring pornographers to wear condoms to cut an outbreak of disease. Critics say porn producers, who make $14 billion a year, put money over safety by insisting that sex scenes with condoms don’t sell.  The industry threatened to move its studios, 90 percent of the which are located in the San Fernando...

(WORDS on screen - AUDIO repaired) Long time radio newsman/commentator Paul Harvey created the original of this homily around 1965. It was updated as the years went by and therefore versions of it vary over time. It is a warning to America about its own decay. This audio has been corrected for proper speed and pitch and is good as I can make it at this time. Unfortunately, phasing and background noise persist.

Wall Street's post-election sell-off may gather steam in the coming weeks as worries mount about the looming fiscal cliff and technical weakness suggests a possible correction ahead. The benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 closed below its 200-day moving average - a measure of the market's long-term trend - on Thursday for the first time in five months, and ended below it again on Friday. More than half of the Dow components are trading below key technical levels. "I don't think you have to panic here, but I think you really want to be looking for the market to move lower...

  • Petraeus to Try to ‘Put Life Back Together’ Before Any Benghazi Testimony

The ranking Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee said he’s spoken to former CIA Director David Petraeus about still testifying on the Benghazi attack — and the answer is not now. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) said on ABC’s This Week this morning that his committee wasn’t told about the Petraeus investigation — reportedly centering around his mistress and emails — until Friday, when the general’s resignation was announced. “He and I have already had a conversation. You know, he’s trying to put his life back together right now and that’s what he needs to focus on,” Chambliss said in regard...
  • The most important people in society

I was thinking about Veteran's Day, where we are as a country, and those who died to protect what we are now squandering away. I started thinking about those who really are the most important people in our society - the ones who make the most difference and whose jobs mater the most. My conclusion - soldiers. The least important and easiest to find - politicians and entertainers. Thought this was an appropriate topic to discuss, given that we are now living under the umbrella of political celebrities, media celebrities, entertainment industry celebrities, etc.

General David Petraeus was the hero of the winning surge in Iraq. But he also has the distinction of becoming America’s first politically correct field commander. His strategy in Afghanistan was in line with that of the Obama administration by putting the emphasis on winning Muslim hearts and minds as a higher priority than military victories or even at times the safety of American soldiers. There’s a reason why President Barack Obama made him CIA director. Leaving aside the question of the resignation’s relationship to the Benghazi debacle, in some ways, his fall is more discouraging than the election results....
  • The Koch Brothers Turn On Chris Christie and Warn Him About Setting Up Obamacare

The Koch Brothers think-tank, Americans for Prosperity, handed down a warning to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for not rejecting provisions in the ACA to submit health insurance exchange plans ahead of the health law’s full implementation. Republicans were already furious with Christie for praising President Obama’s rapid response to the super-storm Sandy that ravaged parts of the East Coast last week, and now the Koch Brothers are pressuring him to reject a New Jersey exchange bill to rebuff the ACA’s requirement before a November 16 cutoff date for states to set up health insurance exchanges. If states fail to...
  • The Voters who stayed Home (bitter pill: Republicans re-elected Obama)

The key to understanding the 2012 election is simple: A huge slice of the electorate stayed home. The punditocracy — which is more of the ruling class than an eye on the ruling class — has naturally decided that this is because Republicans are not enough like Democrats: They need to play more identity politics (in particular, adopt the Left’s embrace of illegal immigration) in order to be viable. But the story is not about who voted; it is about who didn’t vote. In truth, millions of Americans have decided that Republicans are not a viable alternative because they are...
  • Concealed Carry Referendum Passes In Ten Illinois Counties

    cbslocal.com ^ | 8 November, 2012 | NA
SPRINGFIELD, IL (IRN) - The point man for “concealed carry” in Illinois is somewhat encouraged by the results of advisory votes in 10 counties Tuesday. “I think it shows the frustration that people have with the lack of advancement on the issue with the legislature,” says Todd Vandermyde, lobbyist for the National Rifle Association in Illinois. While some would say an advisory referendum carries no weight, Vandermyde disagrees, saying it spotlights the Chicago and suburbs vs. Downstate divide on concealed carry. He says he’s awaiting the results of a federal court case which could strengthen concealed carry as a right,...

House majority leader Eric Cantor talked to an FBI official in late October about former CIA Director David Petraeus' involvement in an affair, a spokesman for the congressman told CNN Sunday. Doug Heye said Cantor had a conversation with the whistleblower about the affair and the national security concerns involved in the matter. The New York Times reported Saturday that on October 31, Cantor's chief of staff phoned the FBI to inform the agency about the call between the congressman and the FBI official. The Times reported Cantor learned of the whistleblower through Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Washington. A spokeswoman for...

The state, with its main duties, the taking care of everyone, defines what is important from now on. One might say that our people coldly looked the Leviathan in its eyes. They did not flinch as he brought them into his body. These are dramatic observations, no doubt. We now wait to see what happens next. We have established who is in power. We will not pass this way again. And in establishing who is to rule us, we reveal our own souls. The liberty to do whatever we want that Aristotle spoke of while describing democracies is now firmly...

Am told that Petraeus did not testify to the committees while under oath. Am told that Petraeus did not want to return to the Hill under oath next week and confront the inconsistences in his remarks about the CIA's part in the fiasco. The impolite word is "lie." The White House developed the "hateful video" explanation on September 11/12. It was nakedly fallacious. Petraeus did not correct the record in public. The election stalled a full Congressional inquiry. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will not take to the idea of a commission, however Senatior Diane Feinstein has the whip hand...

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would start out as a dominant favorite in the 2016 Iowa caucuses if she chooses to run for president, a new survey from Public Policy Polling finds. The PPP poll, which was shared exclusively with POLITICO, shows Clinton taking 58 percent of the Iowa vote in a hypothetical presidential run. Vice President Joe Biden trails far behind at 17 percent, followed by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo at 6 percent and Massachusetts Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren at 3 percent. None of the other Democrats tested – Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, Massachusetts Gov....

The Inside Track On Obama's Victory And Romney's Defeat As some of the campaign's richer inside scenes and better kept secrets, here are some of the highlights... The Obama quants Basically, the Obama campaign had a roomful of Nate Silvers, physically separated from the rest of its campaign operation and the precise nature of their work a closely held secret. From the beginning, campaign manager Jim Messina had promised a totally different, metric-driven kind of campaign in which politics was the goal but political instincts might not be the means. Romney on Benghazi: "We screwed up" (snip) Mitt Romney felt...

While evangelical leaders have long protested that evangelicalism is politically diverse and is a theological identifier rather than a political one, it appears that evangelicals are more politically unified than ever before... We know less about evangelical voters this year than we did four years ago because exit polls did not ask as many voters about being a "born again or evangelical" Christian. According to pre-election polls, white evangelicals backed Romney by nearly a four-to-one margin. Romney received a larger slice of the evangelical vote than any previous Republican presidential candidate. At nearly 80 percent, evangelical support for Romney was...
