A new poll released Monday by the Pew Research Center suggests people are having difficulty telling the difference between fact and opinion. People participating in the Pew study were provided five statements, including “spending on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid make up the largest portion of the U.S. Federal budget,” and five opinion statements, including “Democracy is the greatest form of government.” They were also two statements that were ambiguous. Just 26 percent of the adults surveyed correctly identified all five factual statements as factual, according to the study. And just 35 percent identified all five opinion statements as opinion....

Mitt Romney on Monday came out against President Trump’s policy of separating migrant families at the southern border, saying that the U.S. needs a “more compassionate answer” to illegal crossings. The former Massachusetts governor and current Utah GOP Senate candidate retweeted former first lady Laura Bush, who wrote an op-ed criticizing the policy as “cruel” and “immoral.”

Even before her 18th birthday, Maria had already been enslaved by a gang of human traffickers and held in captivity for four months in her homeland of Mexico. While a prisoner, Maria witnessed a sickening trade in human life and recalls how young girls were drugged, forced into prostitution and then murdered. What makes Maria's story so special is that she was one of the lucky ones who were able to escape.

On Monday, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe refused to testify to the Senate Judiciary Committee about the IG report’s findings on the FBI’s handling of the Clinton email investigation. McCabe invoked his 5th Amendment rights on Monday after failing to receive immunity from prosecution in exchange for his testimony.
  • Gov. Murphy condemns Trenton arts festival shooting [tr]

Gov. Murphy on Monday condemned a weekend shooting at an arts festival in Trenton that injured 22 people and left one of the suspected gunmen dead and he vowed to bring those responsible for “the lawlessness” to justice. Murphy praised law enforcement officers for their response when gunfire erupted early Sunday morning at the Art All Night event at the Roebling Wire Works warehouse. Authorities said Monday that several officers fired their weapons during the encounter with at least three suspects. It was unclear whether the wounded were struck by police or the gunmen. Authorities say the shooting began amid...

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir is out with her first TV ad of the campaign Monday and it will sure gain some attention. Sitting at her kitchen table, with her handgun by her side, Vukmir discusses death threats she received during the acrimonious state debates, such as Act 10 legislation. "Ever have someone threaten your life for what you believe in? I have," Vukmir, a state Senator from Brookfield, says in the ad. "When Scott Walker and I beat the union bosses, cut billions in taxes and defunded Planned Parenthood, the left couldn't take it," she says. "With President...

. Debra Opuda likes her life in Stafford, where she's satisfied with her municipal services, especially the responsive and caring police department, and she's happy with a population that's more ethnically mixed than when she moved in 18 years ago from Bergen County. But it was Opuda's concerns about illegal immigration that prompted her to vote for a slate of candidates in last week's Republican primary running under the "Make American Great Again" slogan in support of President Donald Trump's positions. The MAGA slate swept the GOP races for mayor and all six township council seats, ousting the entire more...
  • Trump Is a Born Dealmaker, Let Him Do His Thing

President Trump is a businessman and a deal-maker—we knew that when we elected him. His administration operates differently from any other previous presidential administration, including in diplomacy, where deals are truly an “art form.” So, it is not surprising President Trump threw protocol out the window when he met last week with Chairman Kim Jon Un, the first-ever meeting between a sitting U.S. president and North Korean leader. Those disappointed with the outcomes of the summit posit that Kim, not Trump, benefited most, suggesting the U.S. gave up more than it got, following in the footsteps of previous U.S. administrations....
  • As Nashville Rapidly Expands, Residents Worry the Metropolis Is Growing Too Fast

    06/18/2018 1:16:38 PM PDT · by RedMonqey · 73 replies
NASHVILLE— Kathleen Ervin moved here 12 years ago from the Northeast, drawn to the relaxed atmosphere, green parks and relatively low cost of living. But in the past five years, her commute time from her 1950s ranch house in the Glendale neighborhood to her job about 12 miles away has tripled on some days to 45 minutes because of increased traffic. Developers are buying nearby properties, tearing them down and building “tall skinnies”—multistory homes geared toward wealthier home buyers. “We hear all this talk about how Nashville doesn’t want to become Houston, Nashville doesn’t want to become Atlanta,” said the...

The Department of Justice's (DOJ) inspector general is investigating former FBI Director James Comey's handling of memos he wrote to memorialize his conversations with President Trump. DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz revealed the probe during testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday afternoon. He said Comey's memos are being investigated after the watchdog received a referral from the FBI and that the IG would release a report on its findings. “We received a referral on that from the FBI. We are handling that referral and we will issue a report when the matter is complete, consistent with the law...

The political, theological, and cultural left in America believe in using children as pawns. They do it on as many different fronts as they can. They lie about doing it, and then lie about lying about doing it.It’s stomach churning because their pretend outrage is almost always about why Donald Trump shouldn’t be president, rather than what’s best for actual children.I’ve had enough!A Facebook post on Saturday declared with righteous indignation: Isaiah 10:1-2    “Woe to those who make unjust laws, to deprive the poor of their rights & withhold justice from the oppressed…”This post was in response to a Time magazine...

June 18, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Jim Obergefell, the man whose name will be forever associated with the institution of genderless marriage in the United States, said he “was heartbroken and devastated,” by the Supreme Court’s Masterpiece Cakeshop decision.   But more than that, Obergefell is frightened.  Very frightened. It’s not the actuality of the ruling that scares him; it’s the boogeymen he has concocted in order to shoo away any second guessing about the high court’s judgement in his favor three years ago.   “After deciding in favor of marriage equality in Obergefell v. Hodges,” asked Obergefell in a commentary...

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush is calling on President Donald Trump to end the “heartless” policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the U.S. border. “Children shouldn’t be used as a negotiating tool,” Bush tweeted on Monday. “@realDonaldTrump should end this heartless policy and Congress should get an immigration deal done that provides for asylum reform, border security and a path to citizenship for Dreamers.” The failed presidential candidate’s plea came in response to President Trump’s tweet in which he vowed to stop “some of the worst criminals on earth,” from using children to illegally enter the U.S....

DEVON, England, June 18, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) -- Another royal wedding is about to dominate the media, albeit for a very different reason than Prince Harry and Meagan Markle’s recent nuptials. Lord Ivar Mountbatten, third cousin once removed to Queen Elizabeth, has announced he will be “marrying” James Coyle, marking the first same-sex “wedding” in the extended British royal family. Ivar came out as homosexual in 2016, several years after divorcing his wife Penny Mountbatten. The couple had three daughters, who are currently 15, 20, and 22 years old. But despite their divorce, Penny told the UK Daily Mail she’s so...
  • Postcard-sized trade agreements would solve our problems By Ambassador

While overshadowed by other remarks during the Group of Seven meetings last week, President Trump suggested that trade agreements could be “much simpler” and that they should eliminate all barriers to trade. The president’s instincts that trade agreements could be both simpler and more comprehensive are correct. Paradoxically, simpler agreements could go further than existing lengthy agreements in eliminating trade barriers. In fact, the surest way to eliminate all trade barriers would be through a simple, postcard-sized Free Trade Agreement (FTA). A postcard-FTA would involve a single but comprehensive obligation whereby each party would agree “to treat foreign goods, services...
