According to police, a homeowner fired on a suspect just before 3 p.m. Tuesday from the yard of his home, striking the suspect in the buttocks. A Las Vegas man used a handgun to prevent his apartment from being robbed, but he suffered a bullet wound to his left hand in the process, according to Metro Police. Officials said the suspect was breaking into the apartment on Tamarus Street, near East Pebble Road, around 10 a.m. when the owner pulled out his gun. The two wrestled for the gun when the shot was fired, according to officials. The suspect fled the scene on foot, according to reports, outrunning the police. Police in Reno went house to house in the middle of the night, pounding on doors and telling residents they had to evacuate as a roughly 400-acre blaze raged in rough terrain, destroyed homes and injured some people. At least one man is dead, after suffering a fatal cardiac arrest while evacuating. LAS VEGAS -- Three men plead guilty this week to stealing the identities of undocumented immigrants in order to fraudulently receive $4.4 million in Nevada unemployment benefits, according to a report released by United States Attorney Daniel G.
