Every Member of Congress and commissioned officer (civilian and military) in federal service as well as every enlisted service member takes an oath that requires they promise to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic …" This oath is required by statute. The Presidential oath, the only oath in the Constitution, does not contain that language:
