Former President Barack Obama is on the Vineyard. The 44th president of the United States arrived on Saturday, and is expected to be on-Island for much of August, according to multiple sources. Throughout his presidency, Obama and his family took summer holidays on the Vineyard, and showed a fondness for Chilmark.

A man who was arrested at a New Mexico compound where 11 children were found abused was training kids to commit school shootings, court documents revealed. Authorities raided the compound on Friday after a monthslong search investigating a 3-year-old boy's disappearance led them to the property, where the children were discovered hungry and living in squalor. A judge agreed to appoint an independent “firewall” lawyer to review pretrial evidence related to special counsel Robert Mueller’s case against Russians who allegedly interfered in the 2016 election.
