PM reportedly says Israel doesn't plan to apologize to Turkey before publication of Palmer report, which places some responsibility for Gaza flotilla fiasco on Turkey’s shoulders. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu refused requests by US Secretary of State Hilliary Clinton on Tuesday to apologize to Turkey for the deaths of nine IHH activists aboard the Mavi Marmara in May 2010, Army Radio reported on Wednesday. Netanyahu said that Israel does not plan to apologize to Turkey at the moment because it is still waiting for the publication of the Palmer report, Army Radio said. The report, whose details have been widely...

A correspondent for the liberal magazine The Nation is reporting that CNN and CBS have sent camera crews to join the new Gaza flotilla preparing to set sail from Greece in order to break an Israeli navy blockade. He also says he’s heard the New York Times has sent a reporter. The messages came from Joseph Dana, who is in Greece and will be riding along with the flotilla, and his Twitter account. At first glance, it might not seem odd that major news outlets are supposedly sending crews to cover the flotilla considering the debacle that ensued when the...

Anti-Israel and anti-Semitic postings at my.barackobama.com show why Obama wants Israel behind per-1967 "Auschwitz Borders"A Google search of site:my.barackobama.com and "Israel Lobby" underscores the fact that Barack Obama is anti-Israel despite his and Democrats' lip service to the contrary. This is the only conceivable explanation for Obama's otherwise inexplicable demand for Israel to return to the pre-1967 borders that everybody knows to be indefensible against Arab aggression, and within which Israel was subjected to terroristic attacks by Arabs in complete control of Gaza, Judea, and Samaria. The following statement from Emily, a moderator who supervises the content of my.barackobama.com, tells...

When you run into a mine field, there's something that's been known to happen: land mines go off. When scores of people charge at the border of a sovereign nation with Molotov cocktails and an assortment of other arms spotted in the crowd, another thing has been known to happen: the people on the other side of that border recognize a threat to their personal safety as well as their national sovereignty, and try to stop you. Of course, the headline circling the globe at this point is "Israel fires on protestors," plus a casualty estimate. As with the protests,...

Syrian TV reported 12 “Palestinian” Syrian Arabs dead Sunday afternoon as the Arabs attempted to provoke Israel on the anniversary of its victory over their armies in 1967. The IDF and rioters were reported to be playing a cat-and-mouse game since the morning hours, with about 1,000 Arabs standing on ridges near Quneitra and Majdal Shams. Occasionally, dozens of Arabs ran toward the border fence and tried to break through it, then ran back when they came under fire. An anti-tank mine was reported to have exploded in an area that was teeming with rioters. The detonation may have been...

A ship flying US colors and carrying 34 passengers is set to joint this year's Gaza-bound, IHH-sponsored “Freedom Flotilla 2” in June, the New York Times reported. snip This year's American vessel, named The Audacity of Hope after US President Barack Obama’s best-selling book, is being organized by an American group called “US Boat to Gaza.” Obama links to the Audacity do not end there, however. Prof. Rashid Khalidi, director of the Middle East Institute at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a friend from Obama’s time in Chicago, is among the supporters of an appeal launched...

A couple weeks back I joked about the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ being more reminiscent of ‘Springtime for Hitler’. I should have known that the Arab world is beyond parody. Considering that Mein Kampf and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are perennial best sellers in Egypt, it is no wonder that the new party is having little trouble attracting members.

CAIRO – Egypt will open its only crossing with the Gaza Strip this weekend, the Cairo military government announced Wednesday, significantly easing a four-year blockade on the Hamas-ruled territory but setting up a potential conflict with Israel. Egypt's official Middle East News Agency said the Rafah border crossing would be opened permanently starting Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except Fridays and holidays.

The IDF has increased its presence along Israel's borders with Syria and Lebanon over threats of renewed clashes similar to those on “Nakba Day.” Organizers of the anti-Israel marches earlier in the week are calling for a similar march Friday, the Muslim day of prayer, beginning after mosque services end. Calls to Arabs to march on Israel have gone forth on social networks, and have gathered tens of thousands of responses. A group calling itself the “Intifada Youth Committee” called for “A march in memory of the Nakba Day martyrs, [a march] from surrounding countries and from Gaza on Israel's...

President Obama's call this afternoon for Israel and the Palestinians to redraw boundaries based on 1967 lines has already generated backlash. "The dream of a Jewish and democratic state cannot be fulfilled with permanent occupation," the president said in a wide-ranging, Mideast speech at the State Department. "The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both...

In message delivered by his assistant at Uruguay conference Ban Ki-moon says occupation is morally and politically unsustainable and must therefore end. 'A way must be found for Jerusalem to emerge as a capital of two States,' he adds. WASHINGTON – United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon slammed Israel's policy and called for the division of Jerusalem on Tuesday. In a message delivered by his assistant at a UN regional meeting in Uruguay, Ban said: "The target date for completing the Palestinian Authority’s two-year State-building program is fast-approaching." The occupation that started in 1967 is morally and politically unsustainable, and must...

What began as a local escalation is steadily transforming into a broader conflict that the sides will apparently have difficulty stopping. While the headlines are focusing on the Katsav trial, the protests in Syria and the implications of the earthquake in Japan, a small war has been going on for a week now along the Gaza border. Israeli communities near the border are receiving a daily dose of mortars and rockets, and the Israel Air Force has been attacking Gaza. What began as a local escalation is steadily transforming into a broader conflict that the sides will apparently have difficulty...
