Federal, state and local law enforcement agents arrested 14 foreign-born gang members and associates Tuesday in Jasper, Huntingburg and Evansville, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Securities Investigations unit. “Street gangs pose a growing public safety threat to Indiana’s rural communities,” said Daniel T. Jackson County sheriff's deputies on Wednesday shot and killed an armed man guarding a marijuana garden deep in the woods north of Sams Valley. The sheriff's SWAT team was searching for the garden on BLM property at around 7 a.m. when they encountered a man armed with a loaded shotgun, law enforcement authorities said. MEXICO CITY – Mexican Federal Police freed two kidnapped journalists held captive since last Monday in the northern part of the country by an organized crime group, officials said Saturday. The two were in a group of four journalists who were intercepted last Monday in the La Laguna region, which includes areas in the states of Coahuila and Durango in northern Mexico. One of them, Hector Gordoa of Televisa, was released Thursday in good health. Mutliple shootouts and grenade explosions throughout Reynosa left some residents trapped inside stores and prompted authorities to ask others to stay indoors. It all started around 8 p.m. Sunday but Reynosa city officials reported that the incidents ended around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
