Some names are just the wurst. Just four months after announcing that the hot dog-shaped Wienermobile was changing its name to the Frankmobile, the one-of-a-kind wiener on wheels is reverting to the original. Oscar Mayer announced Wednesday on Instagram that the Frankmobile is toast. The Wienermobile rides again. The name change announced by The Kraft Heinz Company in May was meant to pay homage to the brand's 100% beef franks and their new recipe. For fans of the original name, the change was, frankly, ridiculous. “It’s been a franktastic summer!” the Instagram post said. “But like you, we missed this...

I remember as a kid how exciting it was to catch a glimpse of the Wienermobile driving down the streets of Madison. A hot dog on wheels!? No way. That's like the coolest thing in the world. Sometimes if you were lucky enough this bad boy would be parked outside the grocery store and you could get a real close up look, maybe even a quick tour of the inside. You'd sing that catchy little song about wishing to be a hot dog, and then you'd go on about your day — and it'd be the best day ever because...

Oscar Mayer has made a new addition to its "WienerFleet." On Monday, the iconic hot dog maker — perhaps best known for its legendary Weinermobile — announced the debut of the WeinerDrone. The "first unmanned hot dog-carrying aircraft" is designed to carry and deliver one hot dog at a time, dropping the weiner into the hands of customers in remote locations from the sky. The WeinerDrone, along with the Weinermobile and the rest of the WeinerFleet, is traveling around the US this summer to deliver hot dogs and highlight Oscar Mayer's new recipe. In May, the company announced it had...

Kraft Heinz announced Wednesday that it will move Oscar Mayer and the company's U.S. meats business from Madison, Wis., to Chicago — a move that will add 250 jobs to Chicago's Aon Center. The company also announced plans to consolidate its production facilities during the next two years, which will result in the shutdown of seven North American manufacturing facilities: Fullerton, Calif.; San Leandro, Calif.; Federalsburg, Md.; St. Mary's, Canada; Campbell, N.Y.; Lehigh Valley, Pa., and the one in Madison. The closings will result in the loss of about 2,600 manufacturing jobs at the company, including 700 in Madison. About...

MENLO PARK, Calif., - A California startup analyzing food on a molecular level announced some hard news about one of the most beloved foods in the United States: 2 percent of hot dogs contain human DNA. Clear Food, the consumer guide wing of Menlo Park startup Clear Labs, said it analysed 345 hot dogs and sausages from 75 brands sold at 10 different retailers and discovered 14.4 percent of the products included ingredients that were not listed on the label. The startup said several of the tested brands had "hygienic" issues. "Hygienic issues occur when some sort of non-harmful contaminant...

Funny ad from Oscar Mayer - with corporate headquarters in Madison - is part parody of those soft-focus jewelry ads for women that appear during Christmas and Mother's Day, and part real thing. Too bad they couldn't get Jane Seymour to appear in it.

Disgraced Democrat Anthony Weiner dramatically resigned today after weeks of mounting pressure in the wake of a humiliating sexting scandal. Speaking from the same building where he launched his political career almost 20 years ago, he apologised to his wife, party and his staff for the wave of scandal and shame he has brought upon them. His resignation comes after immense pressure from Democrats and the President to quit in order to save the party, not to mention his own family, further embarrassment. He made the decision after having 'long discussions' with his pregnant wife, Huma Abedin, who arrived back...

What we can only assume is the worst couple of weeks in Rep. Anthony Weiner’s life continues. Andrew Breitbart appeared on The Opie and Anthony Show on Sirius Radio this morning in the latest stop on his “I Told You So” Tour and showed the hosts, Anthony Cumia and Gregg “Opie” Hughes a picture that he said he wouldn’t release; a fully uncensored photo that purports to be of Weiner’s genitals. Breitbart showed the picture on his cell phone which he passed around. Unsurprisingly, the hosts quickly snapped a shot of the screen and tweeted the image out to numerous...

Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York says he will not resign from his House seat.((snip)) It's not illegal to flirt, Brand says, and it's not illegal to lie to the press. That happens all the time. Also, there are no congressional rules for how to act online. Still, Democratic leaders have to decide whether to ask Weiner to resign and get the lewd photo scandal out of the spotlight, or let him stay.

A 17-pound dachshund is at the center of a bitter battle between his owners, who say he's a sweet dog who wouldn't hurt anyone, and the Colorado city where they live, which says the 10-year-old pooch is a "vicious" hound. Spork, who has been featured on animal magazine covers, bit a veterinary technician during an office visit for dental surgery, KDVR.com reported. Both the technician and the animal hospital filed reports with animal control, said Kelly Walker, Spork's owner. "I was holding him and he bit her on the chin," Walker told the station. She also says the vet tech...

I'm sure all too many of us have gotten disgusted with the idiotic antics of PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Well, with a little luck, it may be payback time. . . You see, driving home from grocery shopping yesterday, I heard an ad for Oscar Mayer's latest promotion: Win the Wienermobile for a Day: you just have to write an essay on how and where you'd use it. At this point, many of you are, no doubt, hearing a large-skulled lab mouse whisper into your ear: Are YOU pondering what **I'M** pondering ??? Yep. I am....

What happened? Hello? Hello? Anybody home? "MESSAGE TO DISABLED FLORIDIANS" December 1998, Florida By Governor-elect Jeb Bush "Talking with a variety of Floridians with disabilities and their families has helped understand a lot more about the lives, challenges and dreams of those with disabilities. However, I know that my education continues with everyone new I meet. People with disabilities are no different than anyone else. They want to work, have families, and live independently. As Governor, I would work hard to create an environment that gives people with disabilities every opportunity to be independent and play an active role in...
