Palestinians militants in Gaza launched at least 50 rockets into Israel on Wednesday in a fusilade that prompted a senior Israeli minister to call for a full-scale military takeover of the coastal enclave. The missile salvo was aimed at neighbouring Israeli towns and villages, causing residents to flee for shelter, although there were no reports of casualties. Three of the rockets were said to have been shot down by Israel's Iron Dome missile defence, while another exploded near a library in the town of Sderot.
