Burt Kwouk, who played martial arts expert Cato in the comic “Pink Panther” films, has died. He was 85. Kwouk’s agent, Jean Diamond, said in a statement that he “passed peacefully” on Tuesday. She didn’t give a cause of death. GENEVA — A member of the notorious "Pink Panther" jewel thief gang escaped from a Swiss prison after accomplices rammed a gate and overpowered guards with bursts from their AK-47s, police said Friday. Milan Poparic, 34, fled with fellow inmate Adrian Albrecht, 52, from the Orbe prison in the western canton (state) of Vaud late Thursday, according to a police statement. He is the third member of the Pink Panthers to escape from a Swiss prison in as many months, according to Vaud police.

COVINGTON, La.- A Louisiana wildlife official said a "black panther" reported near an office building outside of Covington was actually a domesticated cat. Maria Davidson, who manages the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries large carnivore program, said the feline, which was photographed Wednesday and reported to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office as a panther, was nothing more than an ordinary house cat, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Friday. In a world of movie remakes, it's not unusual to see a remake flop. Steve Martin's recent Pink Panther is, unfortunately, no exception. Pink Panther tops US box office A new version of The Pink Panther starring Steve Martin has topped the North American box office chart. The comedy made $21.7m (£12.4m) in its opening weekend, with Martin reprising Peter Sellers' 1963 role as the bungling Inspector Jacques Clouseau. O.K. I've recovered slightly from the marathon of 3 viewings of the new, and, BTW, great new movie Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I saw something during the previews that concerns me.
