Internet traffic and Web search measurement tools from several sources indicate that despite massive promotion efforts on MSNBC and in other venues, Politico.com is rapidly losing readers, especially outside of Washington, D.C. Measurements of U.S. Web traffic provided to The Daily Caller by Compete, Inc. indicate that the number of total monthly visits to Politico.com dropped by 31.8 percent during the 18-month period that ended on October 31. During that same period, and perhaps not coincidentally, Politico has come under sustained criticism from many observers, including Fox News Channel anchors and several prominent radio hosts, for exhibiting liberal bias in...

UPDATE -Mayor Emanuel is denying he is involved in anyway with the exchange of information regarding Cain's sexual harassment accusers. Herman Cain's campaign is revealing suspicions about who is behind the story regarding the former unidentified employees who accused Mr. Cain of sexual harassment in the late 1990's. According to a source who is friends with the Cain campaign, not only is the Rick Perry campaign involved but also the Mayor of Chicago and former Obama White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is likely involved with the sexual harassment accuser attacks. A friend of the Cain campaign believes a...

Jack Abramoff, the fedora-sporting former lobbyist whose name tends to be synonymous with a certain type of corruption scandal, accused Newt Gingrich of just that in an interview with David Gregory for the "Meet The Press" webshow "PRESS Pass." At about the 15-minute mark of the interview, Gregory asked Abramoff - who finished a jail stint over a year ago on influence-peddling charges and has been promoting his recently-published book - about the strategic counseling fee of over $1 million that was paid to Newt Gingrich by housing giant Freddie Mac. "What do you make of all that?" Gregory asked....

If there was a point of no return for Sarah Palin — when the former Alaska governor irreversibly undermined herself as a potential presidential canedidate — it may have come in the aftermath of the attack on Gabrielle Giffords, when Palin taped a video calling it a "blood libel" to criticize her for having targeted the Arizona congresswoman's district with a crosshairs symbol online. In their new book, Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, make it clear that they objected to Palin's imagery themselves, and that Giffords raised concerns about it at the time: "She was troubled that her district...

Was this sober political analysis, or merely an MSMer pining for the good old days of Speaker Pelosi? On Morning Joe today, touting a Politico Pelosi puff piece about her "golden touch," Mike Allen claimed it was "very possible" that Democrats would retake the House majority in 2012. Herman Cain, Joe Paterno and President Obama’s “hot mic” bashing of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dominated the news last week. Underreported and significantly more important was news federal spending increased in 2011 by $145 billion. That’s right, federal spending is still going up. Just over a year ago, conservatives around the country rejected President Obama’s big-government agenda. Prior to the election, House Republicans pledged to “roll back government spending to pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels.” Unfortunately, President Obama and his big-government allies did not share that goal, making real spending cuts hard to enact. Conservatives gave Republicans control of the U.S....

(Buried deep down in the 6th paragraph were the actual polling results) "In the full sample, based on four days of national polling, Romney finished second with 25 percent (behind Cain’s 27 percent). Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Gov. Rick Perry tied for third at 14 percent." ---break---The POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Poll of 1,000 likely voters, including 436 Republicans, was conducted Nov. 6-9 by The Tarrance Group and Lake Research Partners. The nationwide telephone survey had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Has MSNBC opened a bureau in Arlington, Virginia? Watch the assertively liberal cable news channel on an average day, and you’re likely to see someone from Politico appearing on-screen with the publication’s newsroom and logo in the background — perhaps on multiple occasions. A couple of weeks ago, Politico ran a story saying that while Herman Cain had been at the National Restaurant Association, two women had made sexual harassment allegations against Cain. Their identities remained anonymous. Two. Then a lawyer came forward saying he represented another anonymous woman. The press immediately started running the headline "A Third Cain Accuser". It turned out this person, Karen Kraushaar, was one of the original two anonymous accusers, not a new third one. Two, we're still at two. Then Gloria Allred trotted out Sharon Bialek, and the press immediately declared there was a fourth accuser. The...

<p>"At the press conference it was brought up that Karen Kraushaar had come out as one of the women, and we've come to find out that her son works at Politico," Block said.</p>
<p>Kraushaar told CNN Tuesday that she accused Cain of sexual harassment when he led the National Restaurant Association in the late 1990s. Details of her case emerged through her lawyer last week, but she refused to go public at the time.</p>

Mark Block: Did you know that the son of Cain’s accuser works for Politico? November 8, 2011 by Allahpundit I did not know that. He’s, er … not thinking of Josh Kraushaar, is he? “Her son works at POLITICO,†Block said of Karen Kraushaar, whose name POLITICO printed earlier today after other media outlets made her identity public…Block appeared to be referring to former POLITICO reporter Josh Kraushaar, who left for another outlet, National Journal, in 2010.Josh Kraushaar tweeted earlier in the day, apparently after getting questions, that he’s in fact not related to Karen Kraushaar, and simply has the...

Very interesting contrast between the way Politico treated accusations by Larry Sinclaire against Obama in 2008 verses posting anonymous accusations against Herman Cain today. Back then, they refused to even repeat the accusations. It seems to me that Larry Sinclaire and Ms. Bialek have about the same level of credibility. Shouldn't the same journalistic standards apply?

The Daily, the tablet newspaper, named one of the women who filed a sexual harassment claim against Republican front-runner Herman Cain while he was CEO of the National Restaurant Association. The woman, identified by the paper as Karen Kraushaar, now works as communications director at the Treasury Department's Office of the Inspector General.Cain has sought to downplay the charge — calling it frivolous — saying she overreacted to a gesture comparing her height to his wife's.But the paper spoke to friends and family members of Kraushaar who vouch for her honesty — saying she is not the type to bring false allegations.“She wouldn’t...

The Society of Professional Journalism’s code of ethics is apparently unknown to, and easily dismissed by, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell. On “Andrea Mitchell Reports” Monday, the anchor introduced Politico’s Jonathan Martin after playing a clip of former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain suggesting some reporters at an event in Texas check the Society of Professional Journalism’s “code of ethics.” “Jonathan Martin is the senior reporter for Politico and broke the original story,” she said. “I assume you read the journalistic code of ethics, whatever that is.” Martin replied by saying he had his copy “well-thumbed.”

Gloria Allred is supposed to appear today with the third Cain accuser, and at Google News, (among a few more news stories), it reads: CBS News: "Gloria Allred To Offer Up New Cain Accuser." The Daily Caller: "Gloria Allred To Represent New Cain Accuser." Question in its totality, since space in thread title does not permit: ...will Cain be afforded the presumption of innocence by the MSM? Secondly, (rhetorical question): is the onus of proof upon him to disprove or upon others to prove? No matter how badly the MSM says that he has supposedly handled this, the onus of...
