he Rev. Billy Graham has issued a written warning to America's churches: "Prepare for persecution." The renowned preacher and founder of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association penned a commentary that was posted on his website last week and is slated to appear in the November edition of Decision magazine. In the magazine, Graham notes that the American church has been largely unfamiliar with persecution, writing that this "immunity to persecution that Christians in our country have experienced in the past two or three centuries is unusual."
  • Iraqi Lawmakers Reject Bill that Would Permit Reconversion of Christian Children

In a 131-57 vote, Iraq's parliament has rejected a bill that would have permitted children of Christian converts to Islam to become Christians again, according to an AsiaNews report. Under Iraqi law, if one parent converts to Islam, all of the children automatically become Muslim. The bill would have permitted Christian children in this situation to reconvert to Christianity at the age of 18, as was once permitted in Iraq and still is permitted in the autonomous region of Kurdistan.

Americans are becoming less religious, judging by such markers as church attendance, prayer and belief in God, and the trend is more pronounced among young adults, according to a poll released on Tuesday. The share of U.S. adults who say they believe in God, while still high compared with other advanced industrial countries, slipped to 89 percent in 2014 from 92 percent in 2007, according to the Pew Research Center's Religious Landscape Study. The proportion of Americans who say they are "absolutely certain" God exists fell even more, to 63 percent in 2014 from 71 percent in 2007.The percentage of Americans who...

The fact that more than sixty percent of the Irish electorate supported an amendment to the nation's constitution recognizing same-sex "marriage" caught many people by surprise last spring. They may have been clinging to an outdated image of Ireland as a bastion of devout Catholicism. Unfortunately there are further disturbing changes that are being advanced. One is more symbolic. Many, including a former news director of the national radio and television station, are asking that the broadcasting of the Angelus be dropped. It is viewed as an anachronism in an Ireland that has "an increasingly multi-ethnic, multi-faith population," and is...

Americans with no religious affiliation have supplanted Catholics as the largest such group in the Democratic Party, according to a new Pew Research study set to be released on Tuesday. “Nones,” as the religiously unaffiliated are called, make up 28% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning adults, Pew’s Religious Landscape Survey found, compared with 19% in 2007, the last time it studied the issue. Christians overall still make up a majority of the Democratic Party, 63%. Catholics comprised 21% of the party as of 2014, down from 24% in 2007, the Pew study concluded. Evangelicals remain by far the largest single religious...

Despite having “stomach pains” at having to do it…the peaceful little town of 5,000 inhabitants who make their bread and butter from tourism and come together to put on the world-famous Passion Play of Christ will now accept 300 refugees in a vacant shopping building near the train station. Buchenwald, Dachau, youth hostels, churches have been turned over to the invading force. And now this. Nothing is sacred.Eight hours long, Oberammergau’s Passion Play is an epic performance that still attracts audiences from around the world. Passion Play (thanks to Faustina):The Oberammergau Passion Play was first performed in 1634 and...

Kirill called those who suffer for their stand supporting...

The Christian owners of Gortz Haus Gallery in Grimes, Iowa, had to close down their business completely after they were charged with discrimination for refusing to hold a same-sex wedding at the venue, but now they say they have a reason to be "pretty tickled." Richard Odgaard and his wife, Betty, had to close their business, a gift shop and bistro, in August, about two years after they told a gay couple from Des Moines their facility couldn't host a same-sex wedding. The Odgaards were subsequently forced to pay a $5,000 settlement for refusing to host a same-sex wedding ceremony....

One of the signs of the end times is a proliferation of deception and false teaching. That time may be here, as the deceivers have infiltrated formerly solid evangelical churches. In addition to John's broad update on the state of the world, be prepared to be shocked with what you see and hear as John exposes the heresy and false teachings that are infiltrating congregations and universities worldwide. From Liberty University's hosting of Brian Houston, to Passion Church's Halloween intro in Minneapolis, MN, leaders are straying from strong Biblical messages to entertainment venues where style outweighs substance. John also addresses:...

(CNS photo/Daniel Karmann, EPA) (July 28, 2014) (October 29, 2015, Bonn, kath.net/Forum Deutscher Katholiken)  We are experiencing in our days a frightening decline of the Catholic Church in Germany. So many people have left the German Particular Church that it urgently needs to stop and reflect; an evaluation of the situation by the bishops is indispensable. The frightening thing about the whole development is that now the older generation is leaving in great numbers—the very Catholics who supposedly...
  • Misguided Compassion Threatens to Become the Downfall of Europe

Europe is like Judas, betraying its Christian tradition with the traitorous kiss of false compassion in order to obliterate the last vestige of Christian civilization in EuropeEurope has assumed the posture of the Good Samaritan as a response to the tsunami of refugees and migrants flooding the continent. Politicians and public authorities are in the grip of emotional do-good-ing. Critical voices and questions are attacked with a barrage of accusations of inhumanity, lack of compassion or outright racism. Any intelligent political debate on immigration has therefore been silenced and replaced by a grandiose show of emotion. Danish police gave up...

Moscow, October 29, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said he believes that Christian moral values in Western society have become secondary in a situation of the abundance of migrants who belong to a different religion. "Radical changes in spiritual life occurred in the West in the past few years. Western countries have stopped identifying themselves with the Christian tradition. On the basis of the fact that not only Christians now live in the West, they have gone to the idea of society in which Christian moral values should not dominate," the patriarch said during a meeting...

The committee for New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade is considering removing Ireland's saint from his place of honor. Saint Patrick's Day Parade, Inc., the corporation responsible for organizing the annual festivities, is holding a meeting Thursday to vote on potential revisions to the corporation's bylaws. Among the items on the agenda is the "removal of the section which states 'The Parade will be held in honor of St Patrick, the Patron Saint of the Archdiocese of New York and the Patron Saint of Ireland.'" I have grave concern about Carson's positions on many issues (illegal immigration, fetal tissue research, foreign policy), but no issue is more concerning to me than how he could be an effective Commander in Chief. Dr. Carson is an elder in the Seventh Day Adventist Church which has since its founding taught pacifism. Founded in the 1860's during the Civil War, those of the Seventh Day Adventist faith have served in the military in non combatant roles. Dr. Carson has, I believe rightly so, denounced those of the Muslim faith as qualified to be President, but does he himself have...

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Virginia man said the bishop of a local Catholic diocese forced his removal from the top job at a diocese-owned assisted living home because he's gay and married to his partner of 30 years. John Murphy filed a discrimination claim against the Catholic Diocese of Richmond with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission last month. He said he served as executive director of the Saint Francis Home in Richmond for about a week before two deputies of Bishop Francis Xavier DiLorenzo told him that he was being fired because his marriage goes against church doctrine. Murphy...
