DURHAM, NC, August 27, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) -- Christian freshmen at Duke University are refusing to read an assigned graphic novel depicting masturbation and homosexual intercourse. The university says the assignment was optional and won’t discipline the holdouts. Brian Grasso emerged as the spokesperson for the dissenters after he posted his decision on the Class of 2019’s closed Facebook page. Opponents have done their best to mock and deride the holdouts as ignoramuses who don’t belong at Duke, but Grasso has addressed all their jibes, first to Duke’s student paper and then in an op-ed in the Washington Post, intelligently...

Without a doubt, we — the church and its congregants — have hurt our witness to the world with our hypocrisy, thereby undercutting our moral and spiritual authority. Why should people listen to us if we preach one thing and do another? How can we expose sin in the society when we’re practicing sin in the church? On what basis can we speak out against same-sex “marriage” when we’ve allowed our own marriages to go to pot? The pedophile priest scandal in the Catholic Church not only inflicted terrible suffering on the boys who were abused, but it also terribly...

Democratic leaders will introduce a budget that once again includes $7.5 million Gov. Chris Christie eliminated five years ago for women's health services and led to the closure of six family planning centers, state Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg said.Christie said in 2010 he eliminated the funds as part of a wide array of cuts to close a budget gap. But in speeches to conservative groups in February and again last week, the Republican governor, who is mulling a bid for president, boasted he had "vetoed Planned Parenthood funding five times out of the New Jersey budget."Now that his true...

Authorities confirm to Channel 11's Rick Earle that a man who worked at Kennywood was arrested last Wednesday on child pornography charges. Investigators say they found child pornography on a computer owned by Lancos at his Greenfield Avenue home. Lancos was a seasonal employee who worked in the park's rides department.

Actress Rashida Jones is best known for her work in “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation.” But her latest project, a documentary called “Hot Girls Wanted,” explores the amateur porn industry, which she says rakes in gobs of cash by exploiting the gullibility of young women who thirst for fame and fortune. “So much stands in the way of them and that dream,” she tells Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric. “And the things that stand in the way are not being fully explained to them. “Their naiveté is really important as an engine for the porn industry, or at...

Porn stars may soon be forced to wear goggles along with condoms as part of a stricter set of rules for adult film sets. According to a proposed set of regulations in California, published on Thursday by the state Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board, goggles could soon be introduced as a way of preventubg the spread of STDs. The goggles were just part of a plan which includes film producers paying for medical visits and Hepatitis B treatments and making sure there are proper showers on set. The 21 pages explain in graphic detail the preventative measures aimed at...

The list of documents recovered from Osama bin Laden’s Pakistan hideout and released by US intelligence officials includes operational notes, family letters, political analysis and histories of Islamist militancy. But one portion of the document hoard seems unlikely ever to be declassified: Osama bin Laden’s porn collection.

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush is coming under scrutiny from social conservatives for investing taxpayer money in a company with ties to pornography. The former Florida governor invested $1.3 million from the state’s pension fund into Movie Gallery, a film rental company that offers X-rated films in addition to comedies and action movies, according to a report in the International Business Times. The report examined thousands of emails from during his tenure that show a strained relationship between Bush and the “religious right."

Conservatives in Florida were aghast: State documents said that Gov. Jeb Bush and other overseers of Florida's pension system had shifted retirees' money into a company called Movie Gallery, one of the largest film rental firms in America. Most of the titles were standard comedy and action fare, but a fraction were X-rated titles. In short, the state of Florida was investing taxpayer money in pornography. Bush recently released 280,000 emails from his two terms as governor (1999-2007), and buried in the trove are exchanges about the Movie Gallery investment that highlight the tension between Bush’s stance as a firm...

April 28, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) -- I’ve been saying for quite some time that pornography is dangerous for more reasons than those that we typically discuss. Pornography is not dangerous just because it is spiritually dangerous. Pornography is not dangerous just because it is addictive, unhealthy, and unrealistic. Pornography is dangerous because it is becoming a new ideology of sex, in which women are objects to be abused and consumed and men are sexual aggressors, using the girls and women to physically extract as much so-called “pleasure†as possible. When I first spoke on this issue at the University of Ottawa with...

One of music artist John Mayer's signature songs is “Daughters,” a sweet and simple tribute to the importance of parents' influence on their little girls. Here's the refrain: “So fathers, be good to your daughters, Daughters will love like you do. Girls become lovers who turn into mothers, So mothers, be good to your daughters too.” But when John Mayer isn't crooning about your beautiful daughters, he's looking at naked pictures of them, sometimes hundreds at a time before he gets out of bed in the morning. In fact, he often prefers that to an actual human being, according to...

COPENHAGEN, March 18, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A professor of sexology at Aalborg University has suggested that showing children pornography in school would help children better understand sexuality.Christian Graugaard said he hopes by watching hardcore porn, children will realize that it differs from real-life sex.Graugaard told the Danish public broadcaster DR that if children try to act out what they see online, it could result in "broken necks and disappointment," so he thinks schools should help teenagers distinguish between porn and real life. That process, he said, would involve showing them more porn.“Instead of having sex education be boring and technical,...

Here's one obvious sign that we live in a profane world. "Fifty Shades of Grey," the "mommy-porn" book turned into a movie, complete with its whips and chains and erotic punishment, debuted to far less controversy than "The Passion of the Christ" in 2004. The media toasted "Fifty Shades" as the biggest February movie opening weekend ever at $83.8 million, just a shade more than "The Passion." But Mel Gibson's Jesus film debuted on Ash Wednesday, not on Friday. According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, in its first five days, "The Passion" grossed $125.5 million; "Fifty Shades" stood at $98.5 million. It received...

According to Syrian doctors in a report in the British media, ISIS fighters are buying frilly underwear for their wives and sex slaves — and subjecting them to abnormal and sadistic sexual practices. They may well have learned this from pornography.

So I read Fifty Shades of Grey. This is the book written by female British author “E. L. James” that became a huge bestseller, devoured by pretty much every woman on Earth except my wife (or so she claims). I think I might be the only man who read this book. I did it sneakily, hiding the cover, especially when I was on an airplane, which actually is a good place to read this book because you have access to a barf bag.

Fifty Shades of Grey is easily seducing the North American box office, where it's poised to gross north of $26 million Friday for a historic $75 million to $85 million debut over the long Valentine's Day and Presidents Day weekend. Universal's film adaptation of EL James' S&M-laced romance novel will easily best the $63.1 million launch of Valentine's Day in 2010 to tie up the best showing of all time for the holiday. The range of $75 million to $85 million indicates that no one is exactly sure how the movie will perform or how front-loaded it is since there...

MONESSEN, Pa —At least five students at a Westmoreland County middle school were given word puzzles based on the erotic novel and movie "Fifty Shades of Grey" this week, and school district officials said they are investigating how it happened. James Carter said the word search, filled with explicit sexual terms, was passed out Monday to his son and other students in his eighth-grade class at Monessen Middle School. "I asked my son who passed it out, and he said the teacher passed it out," Carter told said. "I don't think this is what they should be doing in the...

It may have been touted as the steamiest thing in Hollywood - but movie critics rounded on Fifty Shades of Grey for being too light on the sex. In a barrage of reviews published on Tuesday night, most of those who sat down with the raunchy adaptation ahead of its 13 February release date lamented its 'run-of-the-mill' lovemaking. One critic pointed out that sex only makes up 15 minutes of the two-hour runtime. Another pointed out that there are no visible genitals, no orgasms - and not that much nudity.
