The Republican National Committee (RNC) is receiving criticism for a tweet it sent to commemorate Presidents’ Day. The RNC’s Twitter account on Monday shared a graphic of various presidents with the words, “Happy Presidents’ Day To Such Great U.S. Presidents.” The presidents featured in the graphic were all Republicans, including Abraham Lincoln, Calvin Coolidge, Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump.

Politico argued on Monday that President’s Day should be canceled for including former President Donald Trump in the holiday. In an article titled, “It’s Time To Cancel Presidents Day,” the publication made the case that President’s Day is not woke enough, and that it “does a disservice to history” and “is less a show of genuine respect for American history than an insult to it.”

Nearing his first full year in office, President Biden has conducted fewer news conferences than any of his five immediate predecessors at the same point in their time in the White House and has given fewer media interviews than six of them did, according to a story on Sunday. The president has done 22 interviews with the media and held nine formal news conferences – six solo and three with visiting foreign leaders – an analysis by Martha Joynt Kumar, a professor at Town University and director of the White House Transition Project, found, the Associated Press reported.

When asked to name the president who has done the best job over the past 40 years, a majority of Democrats name Barack Obama. Republicans, by contrast, are divided between a president who served in the 1980s – Ronald Reagan – and the one who left office this year, Donald Trump.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) on Sunday morning posted a tweet with a picture of former President George W. Bush that said, "I like Republican presidents who win re-election" ahead of the airing of a sitdown interview she did with "60 Minutes.". The Worst U.S. PresidentsThe U.S. presidents whose administrations were the worst-run, most ill-fated, or most corrupt. The worst U.S. presidents of all time, measured by their negative impact on the nation, its citizens health and happiness, and its future prosperity. (In some cases - such as the popular selections of Warren G. Harding and Richard Nixon - the negative view of the president and his administration is due to various scandals and perceived corruption within its ranks. Nixon remains the only president to step down from the office amid threats of impeachment.) Much of a president's job - including serving...

Speaking sorrowfully to the nation from the White House last week, President Biden lengthened a chain that was already far too long, a chain of presidential remorse — and vows of revenge — over the loss of American lives in faraway conflicts few Americans understand. "We will not forgive, and we will not forget," said Biden, with an intensity he rarely shows, speaking of the deaths of 13 U.S. military personnel at the Abbey Gate to the Kabul airport are the latest additions to an honor roll that was also far too long. "We will hunt you down and make...

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice wrote in a new op-ed that the past four U.S. presidents share blame for the crisis in Afghanistan, adding that they all made mistakes that have culminated in the Taliban retaking the country this week. "The past years in Afghanistan have been difficult for every president, our armed forces, our allies and our country. The sacrifices of those who served — and those who died — will forever sear our national memory," Rice wrote in The Washington Post. "Each of us who held positions of authority over those years made mistakes — not because...

As a teenager, Trump (center) attended the New York Military Academy. He then entered Fordham University before transferring to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, as it was one of the few places that offered real estate studies. https://www.pollhype.com/gallery/15-of-the-brightest-u-s-presidents-ranked-by-iq-score/?utm_medium=57313874&utm_source=mgid&utm_campaign=PHPresidentIQ0331&utm_term=57313874&utm_content=8729628&adclid=b120ea489f0ada4be3c3f8d46ffa97d7&requestid=XDPKWQgG&h=42

Today we're going to try and use modern technology to breathe some life into the historical portraits of the very first Presidents of the United States by adding facial animations. The history teaches us that United States declared independence from Great Britain, on 4th July 1776, during the American Revolutionary War that lasted about 8 years. The Declaration of Independence has been largely written by Thomas Jefferson who was a member of five-man committee, appointed by the Continental Congress, that included John Adams, Roger Sherman, Benjamin Franklin and Robert Livingston. The revolutionary war ended with the Treaty of Paris on...

Hi. Welcome to On Politics, your wrap-up of the week in national politics. I’m Lisa Lerer, your host. Forty years ago, a new president stood before a joint session of Congress and delivered a simple message: “Our government is too big, and it spends too much.” Sitting in the audience, the junior senator from Delaware — a young Joseph R. Biden Jr. — couldn’t possibly have predicted how President Ronald Reagan’s words would come to define politics for generations. But for the decades that followed, Mr. Biden, along with most of his party, would operate in the shadow of Mr....

Two key House Democrats will roll out legislation Thursday that would revoke a lifetime pension and other taxpayer-funded perks from former presidents who are convicted of felonies during or after office. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.), who leads the Democrats’ campaign arm, and Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) have authored the Restoring and Enforcing Accountability of Presidents (REAP) Act. It would reform the Former Presidents Act of 1958 by stripping past presidents convicted of felony of their $219,200 annual pension, office space and a budget to pay for staff. The legislation does not impact lifetime Secret Service protection for...

Now that Congressional Democrats have set the precedent that presidents who are no longer in office can be impeached, in flagrant disregard of the Constitutional provision that one of the consequences of impeachment and conviction is “removal from Office,” impeachment has become not only a weapon of partisan politics and naked vengeance, but a way to correct historical wrongs. What’s more, Trump is being tried for inciting a violent riot by telling demonstrators “to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” If that will fly, the “high crimes” don’t have to be all that high in the coming trials of...

Every living former US president is speaking out in the aftermath of riots descending on the US Capitol in an effort to disrupt Congress certifying President-elect Biden’s Electoral College victory. Members of Congress were forced to evacuate in gas masks after hundreds of the rioters overpowered Capitol Police and breached the building.

President Trump has granted a pardon to his former national security advisor Michael Flynn in a rare act of clemency. Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about contacts with Russian officials and he was fired after just 23 days on the job. However, despite the media uproar over Trump's actions with Flynn, Statista's Niall McCarthy notes that throughout his time in the White House, Trump has used pardons, commutations and other forms of leniency less frequently than other presidents, particularly his direct predecessor. You will find more infographics at StatistaAs one of the final acts of his eight years in...

Critics of President Trump have made several arguments against the importance of the presidential election for pro-life policy. Let’s investigate these one by one. The battle for America’s most powerful office just inherited a whole new layer of intensity. On Sept. 18, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg passed away, creating a new vacancy on the Supreme Court. Ginsberg had been a stalwart advocate and defender of abortion throughout her 27 years on the court. The vacant seat represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the pro-life movement to achieve the highly sought-after reversal of Roe v Wade. While only time will tell whether this...

Portraits of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush moved from prominent space to rarely used room The official portraits of former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were removed from the Grand Foyer of the White House within the last week, aides told CNN, and replaced by those of two Republican presidents who served more than a century ago. The Clinton and Bush portraits were moved into the Old Family Dining Room, a small, rarely used room that is not seen by most visitors. Photographs of the new portrait locations were reviewed by CNN, showing the Clinton and Bush...

I would like to know what Freeepers have to say about evaluating presidents through their use (or overuse/underuse?) of the veto. The first thing I noticed was POTUS 45’s low rate of use of the veto compared with other eras. How do Freeepers evaluate Trump’s use of the veto? Here are some facts: 298 years ago, on April 5, 1792, President Washington (should we now call him POTUS 01 or POTUS 1?) exercised the first presidential veto. If I am not mistaken, he blocked legislation that would have given Northern states more seats per head of population than Southern States....

The city of Charlottesville, Virginia, will not honor the birthday of Thomas Jefferson this spring for the first time since World War II. The Washington Post reports that the city will instead celebrate the demise of slavery this coming Tuesday. The holiday is known as Liberation and Freedom Day. It will commemorate when Union troops arrived in the city in March 1865 and freed enslaved people. The change is the latest example of this southern city reckoning with its history. It began when the city tried to remove its Confederate monuments. That inspired white supremacists to stage the deadly 2017...

Was Abraham Lincoln a conservative? Some people say right/left distinctions are no longer meaningful. In my own life I was born into a progressive family and absorbed that way of thinking. When I became older, I have learnt quite painfully how important and valuable maintaining western traditions is, when my own rights were trashed by modern misandry, leading me to create this blog: https://freedom-demokrasi-and-civilised-humanity.com/2017/11/08/freedom-demokrasi-and-civilised-humanity/ Where I write this it is already President Lincoln’s birthday. Who has ever been to Lincoln's birthplace Sinking Spring Farm in Kentucky? Did you learn anything about the man there which came to you from the...
