Stephen Hockman QC, a former chairman of the Bar Council, reportedly suggested that a group of MPs and legal figures should be convened to plan how elements of the Muslim religious-legal code could be introduced. After speaking at an event organised by the website Islam4UK at the National Liberal Club, Whitehall, Mr Hockman reportedly told The Daily Express: “Given our substantial Muslim population, it is vital that we look at ways to integrate Muslim culture into our traditions. Otherwise we will find that there is a significant section of our society which is increasingly alienated, with very dangerous results. “There...

NEW DELHI (Oct. 24) - A Roman Catholic nun who accused a Hindu mob of raping her said Friday that she will not cooperate with local police, alleging that they stood by idly during the attack. Hiding her head and face behind a scarf, the nun told reporters that she was raped after a mob attacked a Christian prayer hall on Aug. 25 in the eastern state of Orissa. In her first public comments, the nun said a group of about 50 men tore off her clothes and raped her. Later, she said, she was paraded naked, together with a...

Ministers have adopted a new language for declarations on Islamic terrorism. In future, fanatics will be referred to as pursuing "anti-Islamic activity". Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said that extremists were behaving contrary to their faith, rather than acting in the name of Islam. Security officials believe that directly linking terrorism to Islam is inflammatory, and risks alienating mainstream Muslim opinion.

Why we should remember 9/11 By JAY AMBROSE Scripps Howard News Service Thursday, September 06, 2007 Let's quit making a big deal out of 9/11, some are saying as the sixth anniversary rolls around, and maybe you disagree as I do, but hold your arguments. A recent event speaks louder than our words could. It occurred in Germany, where police arrested three Islamic-fascists who had cruelty up their sleeves. They had their own recognition of 9/11 planned, but no reading of the names of the 3,000 who died in that day's attacks, no families joining to pray for the victims,...

Police racial slur scandal indicative of larger problem We have already forgotten the "Arabushim" (derogatory term for Arabs) scandal that occurred here two weeks ago - that's the nature of racism that hinges on self inflicted senility and the ease of sweeping it under the rug. For those who need a reminder: A police officer used the term "Arabushim" in referring to Arab participants in a rally in Umm el-Fahm. The message, sent out just before the rally, said "15,000 Arabushim have so far arrived at the rally." The police officer was dismissed and al-Quds was redeemed, because now the...

US PRESIDENT George W. Bush has refsued to comment on Israel's controversial move to withhold customs and tax monies collected on behalf of the Palestinians before Hamas takes power. But Mr Bush reiterated his demand for the radical group, which won a shock landslide victory in recent Palestinian legislative elections, to renounce calls for Israel's destruction and abandon violence. "So long as Hamas does not recognize Israel's right to exist, my view is we don't have a partner in peace, and therefore shouldn't fund a government that is not a partner in peace," he said. Mr Bush, who pushed hard...

Monday, February 20: • Author and commentator Ann Coulter on Usama bin Laden's latest warning and more cartoon protests
-
Steven M. Warshawsky's "In Defense of Ann Counter" is a well-meant, but misguided attempt to rally conservatives automatically behind Ann Coulter, even when she goes too far. Ms. Coulter usually makes the conservative case with principle and passion, in a memorable, often wickedly funny way. But sometimes she is thoughtless instead of thoughtful, in her zeal. Mr. Washawsky found it "very troubling that conservative commentators are so offended by a few harsh words for our sworn enemies." The latest Ann Coulter brouhaha is over her crude characterization of Muslims as "ragheads" during an enthusiastically received speech at a Conservative Political...

WND: On Sunday the Israeli Defense Forces found a Qassam rocket just outside Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's Sycamore ranch, located a few kilometers from Sderot, the town at which over 20 rockets were fired immediately following Israel's withdrawal from Gaza last month. Do you take responsibility for the rocket? ABIR: The period mentioned by the Israelis regarding that rocket is that it was fired three weeks ago. At that time we and Hamas launched many rockets, and I cannot confirm which of the two organizations is responsible for that specific attack, but it is obvious that the Palestinian resistance has...

A Saudi national who served as director of the Virginia office of the Muslim World League (MWL) has been deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on immigration charges. ICE spokesman Dean Boyd said Abdullah Alnoshan, 44, of Falls Church, was returned to Saudi Arabia over the weekend. He was arrested in July by ICE and FBI agents assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force. A criminal complaint charged Alnoshan with conspiring to commit immigration fraud by using fake employment documents to enter, exit and live in the United States. Alnoshan also was accused of seeking to deter...

SYDNEY, Australia — The racial unrest that broke out in Sydney's beachside suburbs over the weekend has spread to two other large Australian cities, where people of Middle Eastern descent were assaulted by whites, police said Tuesday. In New South Wales, where Sydney is located, lawmakers scheduled an emergency session of the state Parliament to consider legislation cracking down on the rioters who rampaged through the city's suburbs for two straight nights, the region's premier said. Seven people were injured and 11 arrested after youths rioted in the suburbs Monday night, smashing the windows of stores, homes and parked cars....

THE New South Wales Government is to give police tough new powers, including the ability to declare alcohol-free zones and the ability to search people and their vehicles in an attempt to quash the spiralling violence on Sydney's beaches. Police will also get additional powers to confiscate vehicles owned by people involved in social unrest. "These criminals have declared war on our society and we are not going to let them win," NSW Premier Morris Iemma said. With Sydney now bracing for more revenge attacks following two nights of violence, assaults, car-smashings and damage to property on Sydney's southeastern beaches,...

(Australian) TREASURER Peter Costello said radical Muslims would not be allowed to turn Australia into an Islamic state. Mr Costello said Muslims who wanted to live in a country governed by sharia law, which imposes strict limitations on freedoms, would be better off living elsewhere. "If you are somebody who wants to live in an Islamic state governed by sharia law you are not going to be happy in Australia, because Australia is not an Islamic state, will never be an Islamic state and will never be governed by sharia law," Mr Costello said. "We are a secular state under...

According to the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center at the Center for Special Studies (C.S.S) many celebrations of Israeli retreat are being organized by the Palestinian Authority, but numerous terror organizations are holding their own, separate celebrations. According to the report, the terror groups are awarding themselves and their terrorist activities the prize for having brought about the evacuation of the Israeli settlements. The report says that while PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas is speaking about further withdrawals through negotiations, both Hamas and the Islamic Jihad are reiterating that they have no intention of disarming, that their weapons are legal and...

KABUL, Afghanistan - Western pop videos, India's Bollywood movies and even Charlton Heston's "The Ten Commandments" have Afghanistan's fledgling cable TV stations in hot water. An appeal from the country's top Islamic judge this week prompted the Cabinet to order television networks temporarily off the air - just three years after a Taliban ban on TV was lifted. The spat is the latest in the battle for control of Afghan society between still-influential religious conservatives and liberals and entrepreneurs enjoying new freedoms. "The consequences are disastrous for Afghanistan," Saad Mohseni, director of Tolo TV, said Thursday. He predicted more restrictions...
