A trend in radio: news, sports, and talk stations have been simulcasting on, or moving to, FM, or new talk stations have been established. Today Rush Radio 94.7 in Gifford, FL debuted. It had been Star 94.7, a rhythmic adult contemporary station, I think. They have a local show called The Morning Rush, then Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, and Jason Lewis. WXKS-AM (1200) - which snagged Rush Limbaugh from right-wing rival WRKO-AM (680) - fetched a 1.1 share of all Boston listeners older than 6 during the month of March, according to Arbitron ratings released yesterday.

Clear Channel has announced the host of the morning show on Rush Radio 1200 to be Jeff Katz. It seems like CC actually put some thought into this one. He has been on the air in Boston before on WRKO and he has had many other major market gigs (KNEW in San Francisco and WPHT in Philadelphia) and has most recently been on WFTL in Ft. Lauderdale and, before that, WBT.

Republican consultant Charley Manning is replacing the nationally syndicated Rush Limbaugh on WRKO radio starting Monday. Jason Wolfe, program director for WRKO-AM (680), confirmed to the Herald that Manning will take over the station’s weekday noon to 3 p.m. slot.
