VIDEO In one of the DUMBEST ideas ever, Walmart has stopped accepting Samsung Pay. In other Walmart is now forcing us to use our physical credit cards rather than the much more secure method of Samsung Pay. Not only that we are now also forced to have another level of physical contact during the pandemic with Walmart via the process of physically inserting a credit card into their payment machines. My strong suspicion is that Walmart has taken this DUMB move in order to hype their Walmart Card because every time I complain about Samsung Pay being blocked an...

I've been using Samsung Pay on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and I really like it. No real issues until just a couple of days ago when I tried to use it at a Publix store. It didn't work even though I held the phone right over the same spot of the card reader that I normally do. I tried it again and again it didn't work so I ended up pulling out my Debit card and used that. Okay, I figured that maybe there was something wrong with that particular card reader. However, this morning I went to a...

Image: Salvador Mendoza/YouTube A security researcher has discovered limitations in Samsung Pay's security, which, if exploited by an attacker, could be used in another phone to allow someone else to fraudulently make payments. The magnetic-based contactless payment system, which comes standard in many newer Samsung phones, works by translating credit card data into tokens so that a hacker can't grab credit card numbers from the device. But those tokens aren't as secure as one might hope.Salvador Mendoza found that the tokenization process is limited and the sequencing of the tokens can be predicted. In an email prior to his Black Hat talk...
  • Apple Pay Is Crushing Samsung Pay

This Android phone maker's mobile payments service continues to lag Apple's own. Along with the launch of its iPhone 6/6 Plus phones, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) introduced its very own contactless mobile payment system known as Apple Pay. Unsurprisingly, with the launch of its own Galaxy S6 smartphones, Apple rival Samsung (NASDAQOTH:SSNLF) released its own, very creatively named mobile payment system known as Samsung Pay.Also, it would seem that Apple Pay is utterly crushing Samsung Pay.Billions vs. just hundreds of millionsSamsung recently bragged that its Samsung Pay service is now up to 5 million users and they have spent "over $500 million"...

Hackers Breached LoopPay, Whose Tech Is Central to Samsung Pay By NICOLE PERLROTH and MIKE ISAAC OCT. 7, 2015 WASHINGTON — Months before its technology became the centerpiece of Samsung’s new mobile payment system, LoopPay, a small Massachusetts subsidiary of the South Korean electronics giant, was the target of a sophisticated attack by a group of government-affiliated Chinese hackers. As early as March, the hackers — alternatively known as the Codoso Group or Sunshock Group by those who track them — had breached the computer network of LoopPay, a start-up in Burlington, Mass., that was acquired by Samsung in February...
