(CNN)Bernie Sanders has assured Vice President Joe Biden that he'll eventually endorse his Democratic primary rival Hillary Clinton, Biden told an interviewer Thursday. But the Vermont senator quickly pushed back, saying, "We're not there quite yet."

Participants were smudged, meaning the smoke from the sweetgrass was wafted over them before they could enter the sacred circle and begin a Wiccan ritual to support Sanders ahead of Oregons primary on Tuesday. Welcome to the Feeling the Bern ritual, Leigha Lafleur, 41, told the gathering as she prepared to lead them in the amplification of positive energy of Bernie Sanders and the progressive movement.

Nikolai Bukharin was executed by shooting in Moscow on March 15, 1938. He had been revered as a giant of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, as one who even worked side by side with Vladimir Lenin himself. Alas, Bukharins Marxist chickens had come home to roost by the time he was shot like a dog during Josef Stalins reign of terror. His execution marked the pinnacle of Stalins show trials of high-level officials. You see, Bukharin invested in building a political system that inevitably puts the reins of power into the hands of just a few strongmen who end up...
  • Jake Tapper Corners Sanders on the Recent Acts of Violence Shown by His Followers

During the Democratic Town Hall Sunday night, CNN moderator Jake Tapper pressed Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders on the topic of his passionate followers, some of whom have shown their strong political allegiance with displays of aggression. With many comparisons drawn between the candidacies and followers of Sanders and Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, the issue of aggressive political passion has become more heated than at any other point in this election. Tapper preempted a question by noting that he was looking to play devils advocate on a point regarding the the differences between Sanders supporters and those of Trump....

Sanders scored several Super Tuesday victories, but his demographic base isn't diverse enough to earn the Democratic Party's nomination. Bernie Sanders will live to fight another day. The senator was expected to win overwhelmingly on Super Tuesday in his home state of Vermont, and his campaign would have stalled if that were the extent of his victory. But he won in Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Colorado, and ran a tight race in Massachusetts, giving his political revolution a new lease on life. His rival Hillary Clinton won overwhelming majorities, as expected, in the Southern states: Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, and...

The context of the amazing outpouring and response to Bernie Sanders campaign is the uprising underway for a more just society. Across the country, pressure is mounting and social movements are building for a livable wage, to end racist attacks and police brutality, to stop fast track for TPP in the interest of jobs, the environment and democratic rights over corporate rule, to expand Social Security and end student debt. Bernie Sanders is attracting thousands at each event because he presents a specific program squarely on the side of the 99%, challenging income inequality and financial domination of the country...

It’s long been known that the only self-professed socialist in the Senate spent time on a kibbutz, or communal farm. Nothing wrong with that. But so tight-lipped has Mr. Sanders been about it that the Israeli daily Haaretz put its reporters on the mystery. “One of Israel’s best-kept secrets” is how the paper described the name of Mr. Sanders’ kibbutz. At one point it thought it had found the senator’s name in a kibbutz archive, but it turned out to be a Bernice Stamder. Haaretz finally solved the mystery last week, with the discovery, in its own files, of an...

Bernie Sanders relies on Millennials' youth to sell his promise to make college "free." Here's what every American—young and mature—needs to know about college debt before voting in November. "This is 2016! In many ways, a college degree is equivalent to a high school degree… We should have free tuition at public colleges and universities. That should be a right of all Americans regardless of the income of their families!" Sanders declared during last week's Democratic debate. So, Sanders knows what year it is. Great. We figured that out two months ago. What he didn't admit to the Millennials in...

... isn't he a Socialist? Bernie Sanders is a democratic socialist. He believes that our current economic system isn't doing enough for poor and middle-class Americans and that democratic change is needed to create a more fair and just America. But this isn't radical or scary! Many of the programs instituted by Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson that we take for granted today — such as Medicare, the 40-hour work week, the minimum wage, and Social Security — can be considered socialist programs.

The Democrats who are pushing Bernie Sanders are dangerously naïve. Because Sanders has a shot at beating Hillary Clinton in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary, and because some polls show him running better against the GOP candidates than she does, they imagine he could actually win the White House. He can't. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and others who predict that the Republicans would win at least 40 states against Sanders, are right. Let's remember that Bill Clinton didn't win in Iowa or New Hampshire in 1992.* And that the Republicans haven't laid a glove on Sanders (because they...

As polls tighten and self-described socialist Bernie Sanders looks more like a serious contender than a novelty candidate for president, the liberal media elite have suddenly stopped calling him socialist. He’s now cleaned-up as a “progressive” or “pragmatist.” But he’s not even a socialist. He’s a communist. Mainstreaming Sanders requires whitewashing his radical pro-Communist past. It won’t be easy to do. If Sanders were vying for a Cabinet post, he’d never pass an FBI background check. There’d be too many subversive red flags popping up in his file. He was a Communist collaborator during the height of the Cold War.

Bernie Sanders is no one's idea of a camera-ready presidential candidate. He's a "democratic socialist" running against an icon of the Democratic establishment. (And as satisfying as anti-establishment sentiment may feel for some right now -- the establishment is still pretty damn important.) His white hair is kind of wild, he's awkward, doesn't smile much, he hunches over and waves his arms when he speaks. He campaigns in rolled-up shirtsleeves and has pens in his shirt pocket. When it comes down to it, his radical policy positions and general cranky-grandpa vibe don't exactly scream "President of the United States."

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Democratic White House hopeful Bernie Sanders said Sunday that he is “very healthy” and will soon release his medical records, responding to a report that a prominent Hillary Clinton ally was preparing to press the 74-year-old senator to prove he's fit to be president. “Of course we’re going to release our medical records,” Sanders said during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Thank God, I am very healthy. We will get medical records out the same way that Secretary Clinton has gotten her records out. It is not a problem.” The issue came to the...

Bill O’Reilly, the host of Fox News’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” is threatening to flee the country if Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) — the self-described democratic socialist who is running for the Democratic Party nomination — is elected president. As quoted in the Huffington Post, O’Reilly said: “If Bernie Sanders gets elected president, I’m fleeing … I’m going to Ireland. And they already know it. … I shouldn’t say it publicly because that will get Sanders more votes,” he said. “But I’m not going to pay 90 percent of my income to that guy. I’m sorry. I’m not doing it.” O’Reilly...

After I wrote about the twisted codependency of Donald Trump and the media a few weeks back, some readers got in touch to complain that the attention paid to Trump had all but obscured the rise of Bernie Sanders. In an interview with CNN that week, Sanders himself made the same point, referring to a report that claimed network news shows had devoted 234 minutes to Trump and only 10 to his campaign. (Yes, 10 - for the entire year.) Judging from what's happening right now in Iowa and New Hampshire, Sanders and his avid supporters have a legitimate point....

Joe Biden may well be the most honest man in Washington. (barf) That's a very good thing if you are a member of the political press and, at the moment, not a very good thing if you are Hillary Clinton. Witness Biden's interview Monday night with CNN's Gloria Borger. Borger asked the vice president to explain why Bernie Sanders has found so much success in his challenge to Clinton for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination. Here's how Biden answered: BIDEN: I think that -- that Bernie is speaking to a yearning that is deep and real, and he has credibility...

On Friday, January 20, 2017, Bernie Sanders will be sworn in as our nation's 45th president. I explain why Sanders wins the Democratic nomination and presidency in my recent appearance on The Thom Hartmann Program. If you've disagreed with my thought process in the past, just watch the segment and you'll understand why Bernie Sanders is the true Democratic front-runner. American politicians don't set records with 2.3 million contributions (breaking Obama's record), draw crowds of over 100,000 people several months after announcing, and raise more money than every GOP candidate without massive political momentum. Furthermore, nobody in American politics goes...

While Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has again (for now) been put on the back burner of the major media, which are focused on the latest insults offered by Republican candidate Donald Trump, he has a far better chance than most pundits realize of winning the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary. It is far too early to make any serious predictions about any primary or caucus battle in either party, but I will predict one thing with high confidence: Sanders will perform significantly better in early caucus and primary states than polls suggest or insiders believe. The reason is that...
