In a previous article on AmmoLand, the West Virginia case was described where the federal ban on possession of a firearm with the serial number removed, was found to be unconstitutional. The case is USA v Randy Price. Serial numbers were never designed as a means of confiscating firearms. They have been subverted for that purpose.Demanding that firearms have serial numbers and that those numbers are not removed so that firearms can be linked to particular individuals is key to setting up a system for gun confiscation. Those who wish for an unarmed population understand this. They have marshaled vast...
  • Dangerous Use of Serial Numbers Found Unconstitutional

The most dangerous use of a serial number on a firearm is as a registration number. In effect, gun registration is gun confiscation. It was not the intent for which serial numbers were made. They were created to track firearms with production changes and as a way for government arsenals to track the production and military use of weapons. A federal court recently held a law passed in 1990, which makes possessing a firearm with a removed serial (registration) number illegal, is unconstitutional. This is an important decision. It has relatively minor effects at this time. The law was a step...

On October 12, 2022, in the US District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, Judge Joseph R. Gordon granted a motion to dismiss the charge of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(k) as being facially unconstitutional. Judge Gordon was appointed by President Bill Clinton. From the decision:Assume, for example, that a law-abiding citizen purchases a firearm from a sporting goods store. At the time of the sale, that firearm complies with the commercial regulation that it bear a serial number. The law-abiding citizen takes the firearm home and...
  • West Virginia fed judge: Law against possession of guns with obliterated serial number unconstitutional

A West Virginia federal judge has ruled unconstitutional the government law against possession of firearms with obliterated, altered, obscured or removed serial numbers. U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin's ruling, if it isn't overturned upon appeal, would strip away an important tool for law enforcement in investigating gun crimes.

A secret memo marked “URGENT” detailed how the House Democratic Caucus’s server went “missing” soon after it became evidence in a cybersecurity probe. The secret memo also said more than “40 House offices may have been victims of IT security violations.” In the memo, Congress’s top law enforcement official, Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving, along with Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko, wrote, “We have concluded that the employees [Democratic systems administrator Imran Awan and his family] are an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems and thereby members’ capacity to serve constituents.”...
  • SN on Kansas Mass Shooting Suspect's Facebook Glock a Mismatch?

The recent horrific shooting in Kansas has drawn national attention.  On the facebook page of the dead suspect ( I will not mention his name here) was this picture of a Glock pistol.  It is a bit unusual. If you look closely, and enlarge the picture, you can almost read the entire serial number.  The serial number on the slide and the barrel appear to match, but they seem to be mismatched to the frame.  The frame seems to be a generation 3; the serial number on the slide and barrel, a generation 1.  You can see the accessory...
