Deputies say a man in Pensacola, Florida, who was trying to shoot seven puppies was shot by one of the dogs. The man was holding two of the shepherd-mix puppies when one of them wiggled and put its paw on the trigger of the man's .38-caliber revolver, making it discharge. Escambia County deputies say 37-year-old Jerry Bradford was shot in the wrist and was treated at an undisclosed hospital. A Madison County mother believes her daughter's death could have been prevented if an Anderson police officer had not shot her dog to death last month. Andrea Hill, 26, died after suffering an epileptic seizure Saturday, RTV6's Jennifer Carmack reported. Hill's mother, Linda Hall, said her medically trained black lab, Max, alerted her whenever her daughter was having a seizure. "My dog wasn't here to let me know she had a seizure and she suffocated," Hall said. Max was shot to death by an Anderson police officer Feb. 6. <p>SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. — A pharmacist shot in the leg during a robbery yesterday turned the gun on his attacker, shooting him twice, police said. Ronald Huel Cole, 61, of Shelbyville entered Renegar's Drugstore at about 2:30 p.m. and demanded a shot of the painkiller Demerol, said Police Chief Austin Swing. Cole had a .38-caliber pistol in his hand and about 75 rounds of ammunition, police said.</p>

A 22-year-old woman was wounded when a handgun that had been hidden inside an oven discharged when she opened the door, police said. Colsaun Bailey, the 17-year-old alleged owner of the gun, was arrested, though police said they did not believe he fired the weapon, The Journal News reported Wednesday. "We are operating on the assumption that nobody picked up the gun and fired it," police Capt. John McCoy told the newspaper.

<p>Grundy County Director of Schools Benny Joe Nunley, 49, was charged yesterday with criminal attempt to commit murder, according to authorities. ''Mr. Nunley has been arrested, and his bond has been set at $20,000,'' said District Attorney General Mike Taylor. The superintendent was taken yesterday afternoon to the Grundy County Jail to be booked. He posted bail about 3:15 p.m., according to jail records.</p>

The state Pardon Board voted unanimously Tuesday to recommend that the governor release a man serving time for shooting his daughter's accused molester. The decision by the Louisiana Board of Pardons means Allie "Bo" Johnson, 47, can leave prison now if Gov. Mike Foster signs off on the recommendation. Johnson, who has been in prison for almost three years, was sentenced to seven years after pleading guilty to attempted manslaughter.
