Donald Trumps private meeting Thursday with Senate Republicans designed to foster greater party unity ahead of the national convention in Cleveland grew combative as the presumptive presidential nominee admonished three senators who have been critical of his candidacy and predicted they would lose their reelection bids, according to two Republican officials with direct knowledge of the exchanges. Trumps most tense exchange was with Sen. Hillary Clinton's New York ties are not fooling "Saturday Night Live." The sketch show toyed with the Democratic front-runner's election results against Bernie Sanders and her return to the "Fat Apple" to encourage support two weeks before the primary. Clinton doppelganger and SNL cast member Kate McKinnon had her candidate playing to Yankees and "Meets" fans before re-enacting Clinton's viral - and failed - attempt to use a Metrocard at a Bronx subway station. So it was with some trepidation that I tuned into SNL last night to watch my old friend Donald Trump host in an eagerly awaited and hugely hyped encounter. I make no pretence of having hugely enjoyed Trump’s campaign to date. Not because I support all the contentious things he’s said, nor because I agree with him on issues like guns, immigration or climate change. Larry David was back on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend to reprise his all-too-perfect Bernie Sanders character. And despite Sanders's win in Michigan last week, the big joke was how limited his base of support remains -- and its propensity for shenanigans on social media.
