It's wonderful that Ralph Klein and Stephen Harper are working to raise our profile in Washington, but for every silver lining there is a cloud -- and in this case it's a glowering thunderhead named Al Gore. Last week, Ralph was in the U.S. capital promoting Alberta, and specifically the oil-sands as a reliable source of energy. This week it was the PM's turn, with a meeting Thursday with birthday boy George Bush, and earlier a working dinner with heavy hitters from the president's cabinet. It's still news to most Canadians that our country is America's No. 1 source of...

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 29, 2006 -- A new behavior prediction tool is forecasting a landslide victory for former Democratic Vice President Al Gore in the 2008 presidential election. However, should Hillary Clinton gain the Democratic nomination, any potential Republican challenger will win the presidency. These are among the surprising findings reported by Dr. James N. Herndon, a media psychologist with Media Psychology Affiliates. Using a new research tool called Affective Encryption Analysis, Dr. Herndon led an investigation into the likely outcome of the 2008 Presidential election. “Affective Encryption Analysis is a new behavior forecasting tool that looks at...

I need advice -- does anyone know about surgery to cure snoring? Have you had it, or do you know anyone who has had it? I've exhausted all other non-surgical possibilities (nasal strips, C-PAP oxygen masks, different mattresses, sleep positions, etc.) and nothing works for me, so I am considering surgery. The procedure is called "uvulopalatalpharyngoplasty." If you know anything about it, I'd appreciate hearing from you. In essence, I'm trying to find out: "Does this surgery work?"

Dear Yankee, I really can't say it was wholly a pleasure to receive your criticism, mainly because you have a good point: "What is most different about Southerners compared to other Americans is their relentless self-obsession. Y'all talk about the way you eat and y'all talk about the way you talk. Y'all talk about what it is to be from the South… ." What can we say? Guilty as charged. But allow me to point out why Northerners don't talk about being Northerners: (a) that condition is not as interesting, and (b) y'all won The War. History's defeated tend to...

Ortho is promoting promiscuity and unsafe sex in young UNMARRIED women. A commercial for birth control devices by OrthoEvra shows a young woman saying: "My life goes a million miles a minute, so remembering to take the pill every DAY can be such a hassle. So I thought the weekly patch might be a good thing." The problem is, this young woman is NOT wearing a wedding or engagement ring on her left hand's 'ring' finger but she is instead wearing a large EXTREMELY OBVIOUS ring on her NEXT finger (closer to her thumb) which typically indicates an unattached...

I will do anything for a hotdog and if you gave me some polish sausage I...

Hello fellow conservatives I am a junior at the University of North Carolina and I am planning on going to Cancun for spring break. I would just like to have some good advice on how to avoid the evils of spring break while enjoying spring break. I know this is very hard to do as it will be tough to control myself as I see a hole bunch of hot girls walking around in their little bikinis drinking cornonas and margritias. The though of that makes me crazy. As a good conservative I have never kissed a girl and won’t...

SEXY actress Jessica Alba has revealed watching a scantily-clad Beyonce on TV helped her feel comfortable playing a stripper in new film Sin City. The 23-year-old Latino lovely flashes her curves in the movie adaptation of the cult comic, which also stars Bruce Willis, and she admits she found the prospect very daunting - until she watched gorgeous Beyonce in her music video. She said: "I get self-conscious, but you have to just embrace it and go with it. "I was so nervous during Sin City because I play a stripper. I wore chaps and little underwear. My butt cheeks...

Anyone have any ideas on why Scorsese is so smitten with Leonardo DiCaprio? First he casts this wooden, talentless, scrawny-ass pretty boy in Gangs of New York, and loses the Oscar; then 2 years later casts him as Howard Huges, a role in which every critic deemed Leo dreadfully miscast. How could the guy who brought us GoodFellas think that gluing a fake mustache on Leo would pass him off as a middle-aged Huges? I literally burst out laughing when I saw the trailer for Avaiator and Leo's little pubescent attempt at facial hair! It reminded me of the Brady...

LOS ANGELES — Uncertainty was in the air for Hollywood's big night Sunday, with an Academy Awards show potentially packed with drama yet lacking the box-office muscle to ensure a decent TV viewing audience. Unlike last year, when "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" dominated the awards as expected and flat-out front-runners took all four acting prizes, the 77th Oscars shaped up as a mixed bag, with only "Ray" star Jamie Foxx (search) a virtual lock to win. With no huge hits among top nominees, Oscar organizers worried that TV ratings could dwindle for the live...

LOS ANGELES Feb 27, 2005 — Morgan Freeman won the supporting-actor Academy Award on Sunday for his portrayal of a worldly wise ex-prizefighter in Clint Eastwood's boxing saga "Million Dollar Baby." Freeman became just the ninth black actor to win out of nearly 300 recipients in the 77-year history of the Oscars, joining such supporting-performer winners as Cuba Gooding Jr. for "Jerry Maguire," Whoopi Goldberg for "Ghost" and Louis Gossett Jr. for "An Officer and a Gentleman." "I want to thank everybody and anybody who ever had anything at all to do with the making of this picture. But I...

LOS ANGELES - Apropos for an Oscar ceremony in which a boxing movie was one of the leading nominees, host Chris Rock came out swinging Sunday night, unleashing his acerbic wit on anyone and everyone in Hollywood — including himself. Rock kept it clean compared to the profanity that fills his standup comedy routine. But he slung the mud in a way that kept the audience laughing. "All right! Sit your a---- down!" he shouted after walking on stage in a white tie and tux and receiving a standing ovation from many in the star-studded crowd. Then he let 'em...

The word "funny" is not the first thing that springs to mind when you hear the name "Gore." Last year, when Miramax announced it had commissioned Kristin Gore, daughter of Al, to write a comic novel about a single woman working in Washington, Jay Leno turned the book into a punch line of his own. "It's about a Capitol Hill staffer who works with a congressman on a health-care subcommittee," he said. "Apparently that boring gene doesn't fall far from the tree." Turns out, yes it does. "Sammy's Hill" is a laugh-out-loud literary debut, certain to draw comparisons to "Bridget...

Tokyo - A Japanese airline pilot nodded off twice while at the controls of a domestic flight last month - in front of a transport official who happened to be on board for a routine inspection. The 50-year-old All Nippon Airlines pilot has been grounded pending an internal probe ordered by industry regulators, company spokesperson Kunio Shibata said on Friday. Shibata said the 80 passengers on the flight from Tokyo to the south-western city of Ube were never in danger because the Boeing 767-300 was flying on autopilot at the time of the March 23 incident. He called it "extremely...

Wisdom of the Father, Folly of the Son Paul Craig Roberts Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003 Americans will regret that Bush II did not read his father's memoirs, "A World Transformed." Written five years ago, George Bush Senior explained why he didn't go after Saddam Hussein at the end of the Gulf War: "Trying to eliminate Saddam ... would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. Apprehending him was probably impossible. ... We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq. ... [T]here was no viable 'exit strategy' we could see, violating another of our principles. Furthermore,...

Here’s everything you wanted to know about sleep disorders but were too tired to askBy Cheryl Sherry Post-Crescent staff writerWayne Winistorfer never had a problem falling asleep. Staying awake was another story. The 47-year-old Oshkosh man had a long history of snoring, headaches upon awakening and extreme sleepiness despite what he thought was a decent night’s rest. It runs in his family, he said. “The women that married into my family always joked about the family that could fall asleep at the table. It’s just the way several of us are. It’s the family pattern,” Winistorfer said. He is far...

This isn’t the first time in our history that we’ve had the possibility of dangerous weapons in the hands of a leader we didn’t trust, and this won’t be the first time we’ve responded to this possible threat with a military assault. In 1992, the U.S. federal government conducted a military siege at Ruby Ridge, ultimately killing Randy Weaver's dog, son and wife. Mr. Weaver was suspected of being a cult leader, hording weapons and ammunition for anti-government purposes. The government was never able to prove their allegations, but ends-justify-the-means justice was the explanation for the loss of life. Did...

It was a Friday evening, and Chad Traywick and his wife, Darda, had just returned to their Houston, Texas, home only to find themselves surrounded by swarms of police – including the SWAT team and a van from the coroner's office. After police pulled the shocked couple from their truck and patted them down, Det. John Hill informed Traywick that the police wanted to search his house. As the detective explained, a local photo-finishing store had called police to report that Traywick had apparently beheaded and mutilated a newborn baby and had taken pictures of the infant. The SWAT team...

I think we can make posting much easier and enjoyable if people would better back up their posts with keywords. For example, if you post an article on President Bush, add a keyword called "President Bush". This would make a simple search for posts much easier when considering if a certain topic has already been posted, and give the moderators a little more free time :)
