I'm watching the "he said he said" debate with baseball player Roger Clemens and his one time trainer being played out in the national press and television media with no small amount of bewilderment. I'm watching the Congress participate in this circus with no small amount of horror. Scores of top athletes may be using a designer steroid drug, says the scientist who identified it. Don Catlin, molecular pharmacologist at UCLA's Olympic Analytical Laboratory, led an eight-man team that identified the previously undetected steroid, according to the New York Times. The team conducted tests that suggested that up to a half-dozen athletes in track and field had used the drug, Catlin said. He thinks other athletes were probably using similar unidentified drugs.
