  • Liberal Sports Writer: ‘Politics Of Race’ Behind Seahawks Horrible Play Call

The Nation’s Dave Zirin (the same journalist who brought us the genius idea that not cheering for the Seattle Seahawks is racist) wrote a post-Super Bowl column attributing the Seattle Seahawks’ horrible decision to throw a pass on the one-yard line in the final seconds of the game was due to “the politics of race” and an anti-Marshawn Lynch conspiracy. (VIDEO: Patriots And Seahawks Fans React To Malcolm Butler’s Interception) The theory, as relayed by Zirin, is that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll called a pass because he wanted the young, clean-cut quarterback Russell Wilson to be seen as the...
  • Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin Appears To Mimic Pooping During Super Bowl Touchdown Celebration

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin is staying tight-lipped about his end zone celebration following a touchdown catch in Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday. After the former Stanford University wideout caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter against the New England Patriots, he stood over the ball on the ground and made a motion that resembled pulling down his pants, before squatting over the ball.

After a year full of discord and #outrage, Super Bowl advertisers went waaay somber. It’s as if they hoped to gently heal us, to spur reflection, to encourage us all to just, like, coexist with each other and consider each other’s struggles. Over the course of the night, there appeared dead children. Absent fathers. People forced to work during the Super Bowl instead of watching the game. There was Jeff Bridges helping us to conquer our nighttime anxieties. Frankly, the whole thing was sort of a bummer. I’m all in favor of marketers evolving beyond the farting animals and contused...

RUSH: So we had the Super Bowl last night. Folks, I don't quite know how to express this. I still feel cheated. I don't think that ended up being a pro-football game. I mean, it was, but that last call -- I've looked at it every number of ways. I've listened to every excuse offered. You know, it would be wonderful if Obama would actually stand up and take responsibility for his mistakes like Pete Carroll has. If Obama had made that call last night and it blew up, Obama would say (imitating Obama), "I knew nothing about it. I...

Everyone knew it was coming. Second-and-1 on the 1-yard line. Marshawn Lynch was waiting in the backfield, poised to do what he was put on this Earth to do: Get a touchdown — this touchdown. The football gods had telegraphed how they wanted the game to end, directing a floating ball straight into Jermaine Kearse’s hands. Beast Mode was going to drag the New England team kicking and screaming into the end zone if he had to. But the play call came in, Russell Wilson attempted a doomed pass that Malcolm Butler intercepted, and it was Seattle that punched and...

Warren Sapp should have gone to sleep. The 42-year-old Hall of Fame defensive tackle, who was covering the Super Bowl for NFL Network, was arrested early Monday at a hotel in Phoenix for soliciting a prostitute — around 7 a.m., according to TMZ. In addition to solicitation, Sapp also was arrested for assault. NFL Network suspended Sapp indefinitely, without pay, pending the outcome of the investigation, a network spokesperson said.
  • Nationwide was the most mentioned Super Bowl advertiser on social media — not for the right reasons

Nationwide ran two ads during the Super Bowl this year, but it was one that told the story of dead children (watch it below) that really got people talking. So much so that Nationwide has landed itself the ominous title of the most-mentioned advertiser on social media during Super Bowl XLIX, according to quickfire analysis from digital marketing technology company Amobee Brand Intelligence across Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The ad, which featured a boy talking about all the life achievements he missed out on because he died in an accident, was an attempt to raise awareness about the fact that...

GoDaddy may be off the hook. Insurance company Nationwide set off a Twitter firestorm Sunday with its first of two commercials in the Super Bowl, a 45-second spot featuring a young boy talking about all the things he won't be able to do in life ... because he's dead. Among the things the boy says he'll never experience: riding a bike, getting cooties, learning to fly, traveling the world in a boat with his dog and getting married. "I couldn't grow up," the boy says, "because I died from an accident."

There sure are a lot of Patriot haters and sore losers out there today. Including Big Guy.Never Won to miss an opportunity to stick his finger in the eye of the loyal opposition, Barry used the normally innocuous presidential half-time interview as an opportunity to spike his deflated balls.Barry’s Balls: Don’t touchWhen Savannah Guthrie asked BO if he was planning to take a more conciliatory approach with Congress now that the Republican are now in control of both houses his response was classic ball-spiker:  “My job is to present the right ideas, and if Republicans think they’ve got better ideas,...

There were plenty of explanations offered, first by Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, then by offensive coordinator Darren Bevell and quarterback Russell Wilson, but at the end of Super Bowl XLIX, with everyone left breathless, the question still hanging out there along with the confetti falling on the victorious Patriots: How in the world does Marshawn Lynch, as fearsome a runner as there is, not get the ball on second down from the New England 1-yard line in the final seconds? “We had it,’’ Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin said. “I don’t know how you don’t give it to the best back...

Am I the only person watching this "football game" (which is actually a good football game) annoyed by these annoying lectures, masquerading as commercials, about how powerful, capable, independent and valuable women are, so we barbaric men shouldn't devalue them, disrespect them (not actually a word) or hit them? Is this really what we need to be told while we're trying to just watch a ball game? I know the rest of the culture insists on this, but aren't men the primary clientele of the NFL? Why does the NFL have to subject us to this nonsense?

Will the Seahawks beat the Patriots? Now that Brady has his balls being held by the NFL. Will the issue of deflategate become apparent. Brady cannot pass squishy balls, thus the patriots lose to the Seahawks. Now that Kitten Bowl (hallmark) and Puppy Bowl (Animal Planet) are over. Bella and the Bulldogs (nick) female high school quarterback is over too. Lets have some real football, with the properly inflated balls and lets congratulate Aaron Rogers for making the MVP.

In his interview with The Gospel Coalition about his faith, his football career, and Super Bowl XLIX, Seattle Seahawks assistant coach Rocky Seto asked for one editorial favor. “Could we emphasize that Jesus is better than anything this world has to offer and that he is the greatest treasure in the entire universe?” Seto said. “Jesus is better than the Super Bowl.” Seto made the same comment—that Jesus is better than the Super Bowl—in an interview in December 2013. Less than two months later, the Seahawks won the Super Bowl. On February 1, Seto will win it again if the...

On Friday, Sniper stayed No. 1 with a mighty $10 million from 3,885 theaters for a domestic cume of $227.1 million for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow. Projections show the film earning as much as $32 million for the weekend, pushing its total to just shy of $250 million. This past week, the Oscar-nominated Sniper became the biggest war-themed film of all time, eclipsing the $216.5 million earned by Saving Private Ryan, not accounting for inflation.

Winners, Losers, And Unequal Pay: Lessons From The Superbowl For A Are you ready for some football? Super Bowl Sunday is a day for fun, food and friends - and a good time to enjoy friendly rivalries as fellow Americans, rather than seeing one-another through “liberal” and “conservative” lenses. That’s okay though, I’m ambidextrous. Then I have to scamper back to the mountain bunker to watch Tom Brady whup-up on the Seahawks (apologies in advance to Seahawks fans, if there are any) so he can pick up his 4th Super Bowl ring – because what can you do with just 3 when you have 5 fingers, on both hands? So, did my post title pique your...

(I know I normally write about politics, and if you want to read about that I suggest you check out my column from Thursday on the climate change hoax. It’s pretty good and has some good jokes in it.) I have to start out by saying there isn’t anything wrong with it, but the Super Bowl could be better. Yes, it’s been a rough year for the NFL…in every way except the bottom line. The wallets are full, but the reputation is damaged. That will fade over time, but the biggest day in sports is now almost an afterthought this...

Liberal activist groups have more than 200 “house party” events planned across the country this weekend as part of an effort to get Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, to run for president in 2016. The “Run Warren Run” campaign, comprised of members from the groups MoveOn.org, Democracy for America and Ready for Warren, is planning more than 200 “organizing house parties” in 46 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and Guam to try to develop ideas for how they can convince her to run.
