On this date in 1774,* in the British official John Malco(l)m was tarred and feathered and mock-executed by enraged Bostonians during the tense run-up to the American Revolution. Malcom’s militant Loyalism put him sharply at odds with his city’s’s rising Patriot ultras — the sorts of people who, just a month before, had provocatively dumped British East India Company tea into Boston Harbor. Malcom himself hadn’t been proximate to that event but as a customs official he’d made himself obnoxious on the docks before. In October of 1773, he seized a ship in Falmouth,** threatening “to sheath his sword in...

An Iraqi refugee who raped a 10-year-old boy at a swimming pool has had his conviction overturned because a court didn't prove he realised the boy was saying no. The rapist, identified as Amir A, 20, violently sexually assaulted the boy in the changing room of Theresienbad pool in Austria claiming it was a 'sexual emergency' because he had not had sex for four months. But an appeal court in the country accepted the defence lawyer's claim that the lower court had not done enough to prove he knew the schoolboy was saying no and overturned the conviction.

In what can only be called a colossal Freudian slip, Hillary’s vp nominee admitted on Thursday that Democratic policies are harmful to white Americans. Kaine was speaking to a group of black Baptists in New Orleans when he suggested that in order to have “equity” between the races, white people must submit themselves to a state of repression similar to what black Americans have experienced.

The Purdue University staffer who allegedly threatened online to rape pro-life women handed in his resignation Monday after refusing to apologize for his comments. Jamie Newman quit Monday morning amid outrage from students, the local community and pro-lifers across the nation, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier. “Yeah, I just quit,” Newman wrote in an email to the newspaper. “Tell the world.” Purdue spokeswoman Julie Rosa said they accepted Newman’s resignation, which they believe is “the appropriate outcome” to the situation. Last week, Students for Life of America reported discovering Newman’s violent comment while monitoring online discussions about its...

President Barack Obama will propose a $10 per barrel charge on oil to fund clean transportation projects as part of his final budget request next week, the White House said Thursday. The proposal would have difficulty clearing the Republican-controlled Congress. Oil companies would pay the fee, which would be gradually introduced over five years. The government would use the proceeds to fund high-speed railways, autonomous cars and other travel systems. "By placing a fee on oil, the President's plan creates a clear incentive for private sector innovation to reduce our reliance on oil and at the same time invests in...

President Obama announced a new executive order on Tuesday which authorizes federal agencies to conduct behavioral experiments on U.S. citizens in order to advance government initiatives. “A growing body of evidence demonstrates that behavioral science insights — research findings from fields such as behavioral economics and psychology about how people make decisions and act on them — can be used to design government policies to better serve the American people,” reads the executive order, released on Tuesday. The new program is the end result of a policy proposal the White House floated in 2013 entitled “Strengthening Federal Capacity for Behavioral...

Maury County, Tennessee is in the heart of the Bible Belt. So it’s understandable why the local church ladies got all shook up when they discovered that school children had been forced to declare, “There is no God but Allah.” Seventh graders at Spring Hill Middle School spent three weeks covering Islam in a Social Studies class – enraging some parents who say the lessons crossed the line into indoctrination and proselytization. “I am not pleased that my 12-year-old was taught the Islamic conversion prayer,” parent Brandee Porterfield told me. Could you imagine the outcry from liberal activists if the...

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius defended Obamacare in a very contentious interview with Daily Show host Jon Stewart on Monday night. Stewart pressed Sebelius on why businesses get a one-year delay on Obamacare but individuals do not. After several attempts for an answer, Sebelius eventually said individuals could delay Obamacare for a year -- by paying the penalty. JON STEWART: So this is what some would consider the first mall that's been created [for purchasing health care insurance]. KATHLEEN SEBELIUS: You bet. The first -- new rules for companies. STEWART: So why is it that individuals, though,...
  • Oppose Joe Manchin’s Veterans Gun Ban & National Gun Registry

02/06/2013 3:33:01 PM PST · by Red in Blue PA · 17 replies
Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Reports out of Capitol Hill reveal that just-reelected turncoat West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin is about to stick a big knife in the back of American gun owners. And to make matters worse, he’s lying about what he’s doing. Both Manchin and House anti-gun crazy Carolyn McCarthy are claiming to be “working with NRA” to enact gun bans and national gun registries. NRA says flatly that Manchin is lying, and we believe he is. (The Hill, 1/24/13) Ironically, Manchin was the “gun owner’s best friend” on November 5 2012 — the day before his reelection to a...

(CNSNews.com) – Following the U.N. nuclear watchdog’s latest report on Iran, the Obama administration appears to be cool on some of the tougher steps members of Congress are proposing, such as bringing down the Central Bank of Iran. Russia and China, meanwhile, look unlikely to withdraw their customary support for Tehran, complicating any attempt to strengthen U.N. sanctions. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said there was “credible” evidence that Iran carried out “activities relevant to the development of a nuclear device” as part of a “structured program” until the end of 2003 – when Iran is known to have...

Obama seeks $4 trillion cut to deficit, higher taxes for rich ... Backs benefit programs, draws battle lines with GOP ... President Obama pledged to pare the projected deficit by $4 trillion in the next 12 years, vowing to protect the nation's most vulnerable while pushing again for higher taxes for its richest citizens. In a 43-minute speech that mixed appeals for a united sense of purpose with sharply partisan jabs, the president laid out his vision of a country strengthened both by fewer debts and a greater diligence to solving the problems of Medicaid and Medicare. In promising to...

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in LOVE. Eph 4:2 Ah, Rio and Carnival is so nice this time of year to visit as Dictator of a Country. While you continue punish your Country with illegal bans and regulations you enjoy the joys and festivities of Brazil with your family. Then of course since you have imposed unconstitutional moratorium on drilling for oil and your subjects are struggling to fill their tanks and pay their mortgages you make sure Rio’s gummit owned Petrobras will have plenty of money to drill in the way you forbid...

Washington (CNSNews.com) – After a combative question-and-answer period with Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) complimented the judge on her accomplishments but seemed less than satisfied with her openness. “I think your record is exemplary, Judge Sotomayor, exemplary,” Specter said while concluding his allotted time at Wednesday’s hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He then added, “I’m not commenting on your answers -- but your record is exemplary,” drawing a chorus of laughter from the audience. Specter had sparred with the Sotomayor on numerous subjects, including the Terrorist Surveillance Program, abortion, and televising Supreme Court proceedings. In...

In tough economic times, one would expect most people and institutions to do a little belt-tightening to save money. Not Congress, however, although that’s hardly news in Year 1 of Porkulus. However, Pelosi & Co have slipped into the budget a $90 million increase in incumbency protection that has gone almost completely unnoticed — and unquestioned: ~~~ The House wants to increase Members’ office budgets next fiscal year by almost 15 percent, partly because 2010 is an election year and lawmakers anticipate a surge in franked mail. In a recently released budget request, the House Chief Administrative Officer asked appropriators...

An alleged drug-dealer has been tarred and feathered during a paramilitary-style attack in a loyalist area of Belfast. The alleged drug dealer was tied to a lamppost, tarred and feathered. The attack comes at a time when the Ulster Defence Association has been warned that Government funding for loyalist-related projects will cease unless the organisation disarms and forsakes violence. Despite the Taughmonagh estate in south Belfast, where the attack took place, having a strong UDA presence, the paramilitary organisation's advisers insisted the group was not involved. Their denial was disputed by nationalist politicians and the cross-community Alliance Party. Frankie Gallagher,...

What it is, is; "jurisprudential mysticism" and "more liberal BS"... "Active Liberty: Interpreting Our Democratic Constitution" explains Justice Breyer's approach and applies it to some of the most divisive topics that come before the court. These include everything from freedom of speech and privacy rights to affirmative action and last June's Ten Commandments cases, which addressed the constitutionality of religious symbols on government property.
