Among the various hot topics at Big 12 media days this week was one about a famous hand gesture. Opposing teams have been inverting the “Hook ‘Em Horns” sign forever. The reason? “S---,” legendary Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer recently told ESPN. “It’s just fun!” As a quick refresher, the hand signal in question is made by extending the index and pinky fingers while grasping the middle two fingers with the thumb. It’s supposed to look like the Longhorns mascot Bevo. Players from Oklahoma, West Virginia and elsewhere, however, prefer it upside down.

Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu (Calif.) taunted President Trump on Twitter Friday evening after the president signed a massive $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill. Trump threatened to veto the bill before ultimately signing it, decrying the bill's lack of funding for his border wall proposal. Lieu mocked Trump on Friday after the bill's signing, saying that Trump was "rolled" by Republican leaders in Congress who failed to secure a deal with Democrats over border wall funding or a legislative fix for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients. "Dear @realDonaldTrump: You wimped out. You failed to deliver on your veto threat....

P.S.: And Barry, if you like your letters, you can keep your letters Poor, poor O’Bam Bam having to receive all those letters from Donald Trump supporters gloating that America’s “great again”, which he takes as “taunting” him. “There’s been some letters that say, “I am so glad you’re getting out of here. Good riddance. You’ve been a horrible president,’ ” Mr. Obama said in a wide-ranging interview broadcast by NPR. (Washington Times, Dec. 19, 2016) “The president said he usually writes back.”

American Freedom Defense Initiative President Pamela Geller took to two morning news programs Monday to defend a cartoon contest and art exhibit held for depictions of the Prophet Muhammad as being held in defense of free speech, but outspoken real estate mogul Donald Trump said it looked to him like "she's just taunting everybody."

When one of the homes in C Blythe Andrews townhomes was burglarized this summer, the neighborhood crime watch group swung into action. Six women and a man began patrolling the property looking for suspicious activity. The activity was also looking for them. At the edge of the property, crime watch volunteer Julie Shaw says a group of neighborhood "thugs" gathered. "They hate crime watch," said Shaw. "They were like, you guys aren't going to do anything. 'F' Crime Watch." As the taunting grew, the volunteers say some of the men began exposing themselves. "They were showing us their private parts,"...

Its obvious, the Leftist/MSM is trying to bait these "Hate Groups" in hope of growing another McVeigh, Waco or Ruby Ridge so they can have something to point to to further demonize "Conservatives" by blaming us, you know the God, Guns and Religion types. Make no mistake about it, this is why we are seeing these stories, the left wants something to happen!
  • When Funny Faces Aren't Funny

You ever notice the annoying voices that owners use to speak to us? I can live with that but here’s a trend I’m happy they stopped dead in its tracks. (Jayna Hutchinson, a 33-year-old Vermont woman, was charged with cruelty to animals and resisting arrest after a police officer caught her staring at his dog in a “taunting/harassing manner.”) Dogs on the scene have reported to...

Some Plano students who are Jewish say they were pressured or taunted to pick up copies of the New Testament from school display tables during recent weeks. Their parents have called for changes in district policies that allow outside groups to distribute materials on campus. "Probably the one I heard the most was, 'If the Bible touched you, like, will you burn or something?' " said Jeffrey Lavine, 16, a sophomore at Vines High School. "I sort of played it down as a joke and everything, which it was, but it was definitely a meaner comment than what we're used...

Politically and in wartime, taunts have served an important purpose, to rally the troops and to pull just a few more drops of gas out of a nearly national gas tank. Remember John Paul Jones’ famous retort to the British “I have not yet begun to fight.” Remember Division Commander General Tony McAuliffe’s response to a German surrender demand at Bastogne, “Aw Nuts”, Douglas MacArthur’s “I Shall Return” and President Bush, standing on the rubble of the World Trade Center saying, “I hear you. And the people who did this will hear from us.”

’S Wonderful BY STEVE PIONTEK This is an advisory to those people who upbraid me every time I write a column involving politics and tell me that politics has no place in a magazine covering the insurance business. This column is going to be all about politics, so be warned that if that doesn’t suit you, pass this one by. For those of you who are still with me, you know that I’ve made no secret of my political persuasion over the years. So let me just get this off my chest here at the get-go and then move on....

Another Sign of the Intellectual Bankruptcy of Liberal Academia[Ed Whelan  01/22 09:56 PM] Geoffrey R. Stone, a professor of law at the University of Chicago, has offered his view that the Senate should not confirm Judge Alito. Here’s the critical link in his argument: “Whatever else Judge Alito may or may not have made clear about his views on such issues as abortion, federalism, and religious freedom, he has certainly made clear that he has no interest in restraining the acts of this commander-in-chief.” Unfortunately, Stone does not see fit to offer a single piece of evidence in support of...
