A middle school teacher at Hempstead's Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School was in a classroom Wednesday afternoon when a parent went past a security checkpoint and waited outside her door to confront her, police and union officials said. The parent, later identified as Annika McKenzie, 34, insisted in engaging the teacher for reasons that haven't been disclosed. The teacher was heard asking the woman to get a security pass and then calling for security before things got worse, police said.

PITTSBURGH — A Norwin High School health and physical education teacher was arrested on charges of dealing heroin, officials said. Agents charged the defendant, 37-year-old Lisa Rodnicki, with one count each of delivery of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of heroin, Attorney General Kathleen Kane said. According to the criminal complaint, agents made a controlled purchase from Rodnicki utilizing a confidential informant, who paid Rodnicki $300 for 45 bags of heroin. BOSTON - A Massachusetts teenager's confession to police that he killed his math teacher cannot be used in his murder trial, a judge ruled Tuesday even as he allowed a bloody box cutter and other key pieces of evidence to be admitted. The ruling came in the case of 16-year-old Philip Chism, who has pleaded not guilty to raping and killing 24-year-old Danvers High School teacher Colleen Ritzer on school grounds in October 2013. The Michigan Education Association has dropped an unfair labor practices complaint against Grand Rapids Community College, and also dropped its request for suspension of an election to “decertify” a union local which represents college secretaries.
