WASHINGTON — On the eve of the 4/20 cannabis holiday, federal inmates again are wondering if and when President Biden will make good on his 2020 campaign pledge to free “everyone” locked up on marijuana charges. About 2,700 inmates are behind federal bars on pot-related charges — even though 18 states and DC now allow recreational use of the drug and two-thirds of Americans support legalization. ... In January 2021, then-President Donald Trump commuted the sentences of seven people serving life terms for marijuana — including two men who were given life without parole under the three-strikes provision of the...

A toxicology report for late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins shows the musician had multiple types of substances in his system at the time of death. "The toxicology test on urine from Taylor Hawkins' body preliminarily found 10 types of substances, including: THC, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and opioids," the Attorney General's Office of Colombia shared. "The National Institute of Legal Medicine is continuing medical studies to completely clarify the cause of death for Taylor Hawkins," continued the statement. The Attorney General's office will also continue conducting its own investigation. The Foo Fighters confirmed Hawkins' sudden death at 50 late Friday...

@RepMattGaetz Today I voted YES on the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act to remove marijuana from the list of Schedule 1 drugs, decriminalizing the substance at the federal level and enabling states to set their own policy. (1/2) Though not perfect (bad tax and spending provisions) the MORE Act is a step in the right direction as science has already proven the substance has healing properties in many chronic ailments. (2/2)
  • Cannabis manufacturer Select mixed up THC and CBD products, Oregon says, and that’s why unsuspecting consumers got high

The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission said Friday night that it has solved the mystery of why people were getting high on CBD products supposedly made from hemp, which ordinarily don’t contain the psychoactive ingredient THC. Oregon manufacturer Select, also known as Cura Cannabis, evidently mixed up two lines of products at its Portland manufacturing site, according to the commission. The company’s workers apparently confused a line of CBD products without THC with a line of recreational marijuana products that do usually contain the psychoactive ingredient associated with marijuana use.

FORDHAM HEIGHTS, the Bronx — A father riding the subway with his 4-year-old daughter in the Bronx was threatened and spit on after asking a man not to smoke on the train earlier in September, according to the NYPD. Police said it happened around 3:20 p.m. back on Sept. 5 as the dad and daughter were aboard a southbound D train. An unidentified man sitting in the same car was smoking alleged marijuana while riding the train, authorities said. The father, 35, asked the man not to smoke aboard the train, a which point the other man started yelling...

Democrat tricks, dishonesty, lies, and bad conduct should be met with the authority and ruthlessness of the rule book. That rule book being the Texas Constitution. After the legislative session, Governor Abbott called a special session to wrap-up a laundry list of legislation that our representatives were unable to complete. At some point, a cadre of Democrats abandoned their voters and skipped town, bringing the session to a halt. From my perspective, the most important task the legislature needs to accomplish is redistricting as the future stability of Texas is dependent on it. Though the Democrats derailed the legislature, the...

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Results from a study spanning over five decades found a relationship between marijuana use and violent behavior. The findings, published in Psychological Medicine, is in contrast with other literature associating smoking with feelings of peacefulness and relaxation. Investigators at King’s College in London followed 411 males between the ages of eight and 56 years beginning in 1953 observing them for over 50 years for the purpose of assessing the connection between long-term cannabis use and violence. Violence was defined by two outcomes: criminal convictions and self-reported data. Results showed males who smoked weed were 7.1 and 8.9...

An upscale Detroit restaurant has sparked an outrage among stoners and social justice warriors for posting their dress code on Facebook — which includes not stinking of marijuana. The Caucus Club Detroit also reminded people that hoodies and jerseys are not acceptable attire and that people should, at minimum, be wearing business casual attire if they come in to eat. “Seriously people, hoodies and jerseys are not business attire. Neither are ball caps 🧢 and sneakers 👟. Most importantly, if you smell like marijuana don’t even think of stepping inside the Caucus Club,” the post read. They also used the...

Over the last few months, various headlines have emerged suggesting the potential for cannabinoids, and in particular, cannabidiol (CBD) to treat the often deadly inflammation caused by COVID-19 known as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Now, researchers have begun exploring another popular cannabinoid- tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive compound in cannabis- for the same effects. For the study, the researchers exposed two groups of healthy mice to a bacterial infection called Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB), known to cause mostly fatal cases of ARDS in mice. In this case, the researchers treated one of the groups with THC immediately after being infected by...

“Because they are trying to find out whether or not there is any impact on the use of marijuana, not in leading you to other drugs, but what it effects—does it effect long-term development of the brain,” said Biden. “And we should wait ‘til the studies are done. I think science matters.” Charlamagne responded: “I think we got, I think we got decades and decades of studies from actual weed smokers." “Yeah, I do,” said Biden. “I know a lot of weed smokers.”

A hemp field near Fresno, Calif., is marked with a no trespassing sign that indicates the plant growing here is hemp, not marijuana. Photo courtesy of Fresno County Sheriff's Office =================================================================== EVANSVILLE, Ind., Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Across the country, newly legal hemp plants are being mistaken for their close cousin, marijuana. And they're attracting thieves. "They thought they stumbled upon the field of dreams," said Ashleigh Baldwin, a hemp grower in Coopersburg, Pa., who experienced two people stealing hemp from her fields last summer. "It really does look, smell and feel a lot like marijuana." While a hemp is...

Today the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finally confirmed that the vast majority of patients with vaping-related respiratory illnesses have reported using cannabis products, typically purchased on the black market. Among 514 patients for whom the information was available, the CDC found, 77 percent reported using THC products. Just 16 percent said they had vaped only nicotine, although the types, sources, and brands of the products were not identified.Since people may be reluctant to admit illegal drug use, the true rate of THC vaping among the patients with respiratory symptoms is almost certainly higher. Prior data from...

Seeking answers, NBC News commissioned one of the nation's leading cannabis testing facilities to test a sampling of THC cartridges — 18 in all — obtained from legal dispensaries and unlicensed dealers. The findings were deeply troubling. Of the three purchased from legal dispensaries in California, the CannaSafe testing company found no heavy metals, pesticides or residual solvents like Vitamin E. But 13 out of the other 15 samples from black market THC cartridges were found to contain Vitamin E. CannaSafe also tested 10 of the unregulated cartridges for pesticides. All 10 tested positive. The products all contained myclobutanil, a...

Federal health officials issued a national warning Thursday against marijuana use by adolescents and pregnant women, as more states legalize the increasingly potent drug for medicinal and recreational use. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and Surgeon General Jerome Adams made the announcement, with Azar calling marijuana “a dangerous drug.” Officials said President Donald Trump has donated $100,000 — one-quarter of his annual government salary — toward a digital campaign to raise awareness of the risks. Trump has forgone his official salary since taking office. The warning comes as legal marijuana has grown into a $10-billion industry in the...

Dogs in the Roaring Fork Valley have found another way to get stoned other than the bo ring break-in of edibles at home: They are eating human feces tainted with marijuana. Dr. Scott Dolginow, who owns Valley Emergency Pet Care in Basalt, said he is seeing anywhere between three and 10 dogs a week that come in with marijuana toxicity. His working theory is that these dogs are eating human feces that have enough THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, in it to carry over for a second high. And they are finding these piles of pot-laced poop on trails...

The proof is in the pee. A federally funded study has confirmed, not surprisingly, that marijuana use went up in Washington state after its first legal pot stores opened in 2014. In fact, consumption appeared to double, at least in one major city, over three years — a conclusion scientists reached by way of the unglamorous work of analyzing raw sewage. “It’s stinky,” said lead author Dan Burgard, a chemist at the University of Puget Sound. “But we’ve worked with urine, we’ve worked with wastewater, and we’ve worked with port-a-potties. It’s not as bad a port-a-potties.” The research entailed driving...

Yet the cops barge in and toss his whole hospital room anyway. And the circumstances didn't prevent the police from humiliating him, either. You'd think he was maybe a dealer in a pimp outfit. Sousley ad a yuge bong, right? Nope. He playing some Hendrix and seen rolling some joints, right? Nope. He has some **pills that contain THC**. Yeah, for his PAIN. Cuz they're less...

Call it a buzzkiller from BuzzFeed. On Wednesday, online news site BuzzFeed reported that the Trump Administration is engaged in a "secret war on weed." BuzzFeed stated that the Marijuana Policy Coordination Committee told multiple federal agencies to submit "data demonstrating the most significant negative trends" about marijuana use. The goal appears to be to try to prevent further support for relaxing federal anti-marijuana laws. If the committee is successful in its efforts, companies with U.S. marijuana operations such as Scotts Miracle-Gro (NYSE:SMG), CannaRoyalty (NASDAQOTH:CNNRF), and Kush Bottles (NASDAQOTH:KSHB) could see their hopes of operating in a fully legal environment...
