I have been working on my taxes over the past couple of days. I try to file early, and not wait until April, because, from experience, doing taxes early and in a more leisurely manner, is less stressful than spending sleepless nights a couple of days before April 15. But I hate filing income taxes just as much as everyone else, and I am well aware that the income tax goes against the values on which this country was founded. Our founding fathers, Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton, Franklin, Washington, etc., would have been on my side, but their views no longer...

The cache of documents at the Ansar al-Islam compound, including computer discs and foreign passports belonging to Arab fighters from around the Middle East, could bolster the Bush administration's claims that the two groups are connected, although there was no indication any of the evidence tied Ansar to Saddam Hussein as Washington has maintained. There were indications,...

Government worker Ian Jarman is unhappy that he has to wear a tie to work — so he is accusing his management of sex discrimination. Jarman, 46, said Monday he is taking his complaint against Job Center Plus, a government employment agency, to an employment tribunal. "It is ridiculous. I have done this job for 26 years without wearing a tie and it has never affected my ability to do the job," said Jarman, from Birmingham in central England. "It is sexual discrimination. The dress code says that female members of staff can wear an open-necked blouse. Why should male...
