EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures is talks to acquire feature-film rights for the classic sci-fi novel The Stars My Destination for producer Mary Parent. Written by Alfred Bester, the book (better known as Tiger! Tiger! in the U.K. for its opening-page reprint of a William Blake poem) follows a man who is shipwrecked in space for years when one day a rescue crew passes him by. Angered, he channels his energies into seeking revenge and begins scheming. The key art of the book is enough to get anyone intrigued.

The Federal complaint against Faisal Shahzad documents that the Pakistani-American tried to detonate a bomb in Times Square and received bomb-making training in Waziristan, Pakistan. Shahzad was tracked as a suspect since late Sunday night, and was added to a no-fly list as a possible terrorist. Yet, the Times Square bombing suspect managed to board Emirates flight 202 to Dubai on Monday night. Shahzad was arrested by U.S. Customs Border Protection (CBP) officials before it left the gate, but after the plane plane was fully boarded and the door closed. The threat of terror returned to London today after a car bomb was found outside a West End nightclub. The apparent target was Tiger Tiger in Haymarket, where up to 1,700 people were inside on 'ladies night'. It is feared the attack is the work of Al Qaeda militants, who plotted a similar attack on the capital's Ministry of Sound nightclub and Bluewater shopping centre. PICNICKERS in New York fled for their lives at the weekend after a circus tiger escaped from its enclosure and prowled across the city. The white tiger, named Apollo, embarked on a half-mile stroll after his trainers tried unsuccessfully to transfer him between cages. When the two enclosures accidentally separated, the 450lb feline took his chance for freedom and set about exploring the bustling Queens area of New York.
